I was worried based on all the negative reviews but I followed the instructions and it worked 1st time for me on Samsung A8. Took a few seconds for me to work out that once in capture screen you click the camera or video to actually capture. Clearly, once you are on the network to your camera you will no longer be on the network you were on previously. Also, if you say exit WiFi on camera the WiFi link is severed as expected. All good so far at least. hope this helps someone.
Disable mobile data to gain wifi connection. A poster mentioned that the Go Action app was the one to use with the safari3 4k. I have used both and the key to connectivity seems to be disabling mobile data. The Safari connect 4 app does not offer any prompts when having issues connecting to wifi in setup. Go Action app offered the prompt. It seemes to solve the issue with both apps. Both apps are working on my Moto phone. Both lag but the settings are the trade-off. works so far.....
The app cannot connect to the internet or the camera making it completely useless. It does not matter if the data connection is turned off as a previous reviewer suggested. Also demands location services to be on to use the app. I find that also unacceptable. Galaxy A5 2017.
I was very confused with the WiFi thing when I first downloaded the app. To get WiFi to work you need to have the safari create it's own WiFi. It shows you how on the little instruction book. It's only a 4 star because it can get quite laggy and freeze at times.
Absolutely terrible. Will connect for a second then will close out of the app and say it's not responding. If the app does stay open it just keeps saying "device preparing" and doesn't let you do anything. Do not buy this terrible camera or download this crappy app.
Does not work with Pixel 3 and Safari 3. Sent bug report and emails. Initial response was fast but after sending screen shots of the issue there has been no response or action to fix the problem.
Dont lose hope of the Safari 3 or 4. These cameras are super awesome. The batteries and case and accessories all share with the gopro 4,5,6,7. It's awesome! But!! Android users, do yourself a favor and download GoAction. My gf's iPhone uses Safari app perfectly. Android will not connect at all. (But you can connect usb and works great for reviewing and downloading files) This is where GoAction comes in. Your phone becomes a remote. You can do your slow motion, timers, remote monitoring, so much more. This app hasn't worked since an update back in early 2017. Tested on a pixel, Samsung s5, Samsung s7, pixel 3 xl.
pretty cool. app wifi doesnt work very well, just connect wifi on your device then connect within the app allows you to choose your options from there.
Terrible connection management, I've installed the app multiple times in an effort to get the app to connect but it simply doesn't. Website and support have not been helpful. Avoid getting a safari action camera if possible
What a piece of junk app. Asking for permission to access my location but then won't work unless I accept? Why bother asking? Plus trying to connect to the camera is an absolute wasted effort. Absolute garbage app. Don't even bother installing it.
I also had trouble connecting to my Samsung S9+. Turned off auto reconnect to my home WiFi in the WiFi menu and then I was able to connect to the camera.
freezes everytime try to connect, i leave for my holiday tomorrow and i dont have time to go buy anything else thanks safari .....you are garbage. GoPro is the way i go from now on.
Continuously crashes on Samsung S9. Unusable. Safari4 camera. Have to use GoAction and shut off mobile data to work with camera.
The camera quality is good but connecting to the app and the quality once transferred is garbage
got this for Christmas and was really hoping for a camera for Christmas. But I cant get by the fricking wifi screen to control from my phone. Kts enfuriating. I'm getting a job And getting a gopro.
Spent 4 hours trying to connect Safari 4 to Pixel 2 XL. Bought before reading reviews. I think that was a mistake.
App works well as described & connected immediately with no difficulty.

Won a SafariCam Wifi at work during a raffle. Seemed rough around the edges, but the price was right. I'm having the same problem everyone else is when trying to connect to the camera via wifi to adjust everything from my phone. Wish I still kept the older version of the software around, since it worked fine on my old phone. Let this be another lesson in how with off-brand stuff, what you save in money bites you back threefold when it comes to product longevity and support.
READ THIS REVIEW IT WILL SOLVE FRUSTRATION. The camera is excellent and has been used in many applications. The app on the other hand is almost absolute garbage because of the WIFI. To solve this issue, disconnect your mobile data, but keep your wifi connection open. Should connect right away. Such terrible integration, but after this camera and app started working well. Almost a write off but can gladly now use it.
