Unable to play downloaded videos. Worked once but now continues to fail. Running on a pixel 4a. Makes the app unusable and I'm stuck watching through the browser. Really happy to see they're trying to support offline mode but until it works properly unfortunately I have to give it a negative review. On the positive side I love the content OReilly creates.

Okay app on the phone, but it is a pain to change chapters. I know it helps protect DRM or lowers what yall have to load at a time or whatever reason for it, but it is annoying! Continuous scroll is a must have feature for phone reading. Also, can't read it on an ereader, so its either the computer screen or the phone screen. Better than nothing and it functions so 3 stars. As a side note, it seems rather ironic that O'Reilly is the go to publisher for computer books and the app UI is mediocre.

I enjoy reading using the program, however I feel it can be more immersive. I find Google Chrome to be immersive, as an example, because once the reader scrolls down a page, the chrome hides itself, leaving the reader focused on the page. As another example of a program that provides an immersive mode that is excellent for reading, I suggest using the Liquid mode of Adobe Acrobat. Reading is an experience, you have to make it compelling.

nice library (on the website) but the download function doesnt work it just starts, puts an unremovable notification on my screen and doesn't load it needs more error checking and user feedback. The search function seems to fail often and tell me there are no books in oreily livrary at all. I have been able yo read a few books though even though the UX could use some work.

The books are great, but the Android app has so many flaws. My main issues are around 1) the pairing: I get the membership via work, and need to pair the app/device which is fine, but it quickly unpairs (who knows why) and having to go back to my work email to sort it out is major hassle. I read these on the go, away from my work stuff. Hence I leave it unpaired and can't use the app until much much later. 2) the app is slow, mainly rendering the text which takes forever after screen goes off

I have used O'Reilly for several years. This app made access so much easier. Between reading on my tablet and listening on my phone it is the perfect way to learn and increase skill set. The app works great and has not let me down. O'Reilly has the most robust library I have found and titles that are current. It's a must have to keep up with the ever changing environment.

Content is great, app is close to unusable. There are many bugs e.g. logs you out automatically after a few days and although your downloads are in the list it can't 'find' the content. Downloading is a different story altogether.

Very Bad Audiobook Listening Experience. It is the worst I have ever seen. The progress does not save correctly, you can not use the phone when listening, as the app should be always opened.

Password saving mechanisms don't work with the way they have their login set up. This coupled with regular logouts makes using this app a pain. Reading mode isn't full screen as it should be. It doesn't seem to remember what videos I've been working through on my PC.

I can't make this work. If I rotate the screen, it just hangs and stay for ever clocking. I can't download any book it just hangs or fail without giving any error message. In general it is very slow and for me it is a complete waste of time.

Good idea with terrible implementation. Doesn't work offline even you downloaded a book, often lost reading position, often reauthorization requirests. Spontaneous jumps across opened book. All these could be OK for a free application, but absolutely unacceptable for your price.

One of the best apps I've ever encountered. Enjoying the free trial and very likely to subscribe. Was able to access the exact video course I was looking for!

Books fail to download for offline use and there's no error information as to why, just a never-ending loading indicator. Opening books online had the same problem. I appreciate downtime sometimes happen, but also expect an app to fail gracefully and inform the user of the problem rather than remain in an infinite loading state.

Disaster! Casting works horrendously. Forces your phone into landscape mode and you can't leave the video (on your phone) even though you are watching it on another screen.

The other reviews are no joke; when downloading it just shows a permanent notification that it is downloading. Create playlist screen is unresponsive/ just showing "Saving..." for a long time. And if you switch out of the app (to write a review) and go back the "create" button no longer works. Perhaps the developers could make good use of some of the content.

Several books I've been studying are properly formatted which is awesome, but others that I want to study are not well formatted, and it is a better to use a desktop web browser. I like the fact that it keeps the history so I can go back and check which book I have used, but it would be great if the history shows when it was the last time. Also, the progress by book and chapter is great, but when following guidelines on reading specific page numbers, I just have to do it based on my knowledge.

Great UI, thanks for making an effort and focusing on reserving the attention of the user on only the thing that matters because imagine if there was an explore page that shows up right when you clicked the app icon, idk bout you but i would see every book on the platform cuz i am cat-curious.

O'Reilly is great. O'Reilly's app is horrible. It's buggy and slow. It freezes when tabbing between it and other apps. Clicking a link inside a book freezes the app. Really poor experience overall. There's no pagination or horizontal scroll, just an endless vertical scroll. Highlighting, Notes and Bookmarks are also really poorly executed.

Wasn't able to view content. Had to fiddle around until I found a place to reenter my credentials. The book I am reading froze after the layout rotated.

Application is slow, not handy, I mean you need to scroll down from the top each time you open the table of contents, but honestly the content is fascinating.

Logs out and corrupts downloaded books by itself (login was done on the same day so there should be no expiration). The only reason for me to install this app was to gain offline access for flights, useless for that use case.

More than a year after my initial review, I find this app being far from a decent user experience. Severe performance issue and basic functionality not working. Tried to download a book, so I can read it offline and the download did not work and it messed up my home page....I probably have to refresh the app. Content is good but I clearly prefer other apps for reading simply because all the others are far better.

Only way to have an offline copy of the book is through the app but the app needs an internet connection to log in... Wish they mentioned that, I wouldn't have wasted so much time without a book.
