＜Main functions and its utilization＞-Receiving Earthquake Early Warnings and Tsunami Warnings Before using the Application for the first time, select locations for which you wish to receive warnings from the Settings Menu (you may select a maximum of five locations (in Japan only))(*). Users will receive notifications when Earthquake Early Warning for local earthquakes of seismic intensity level 4 or greater, Tsunami Warning, Eruption Alert, or other special weather warnings are issued for the selected locations. Also, please note that notifications will NOT be given if more than one month has elapsed since the last update of location settings. (*)(*) It is necessary to activate the GPS, if you wish to set locations by using Location Information Service (GPS). The Location Information Service is also used to obtain information of your current location to allow the application to display both your current location and the earthquake location on a map.-Earthquake List Information on past earthquakes (seismic intensity level of 3 or higher) can be viewed (a maximum of ten records).-Weather Warning List Weather Warnings (heavy rainfall, flood, windstorm, blizzard, heavy snowfall, high wave, tidal wave) and special warnings (heavy rainfall, windstorm, blizzard, heavy snowfall, high wave, tidal wave) issued for the selected locations can be viewed.-Volcanic Warning List Currently issued volcanic warnings can be viewed.-Evacuation flow chart Actions to be taken during a disaster are shown in the form of a flow chart.-Communication cards A set of question sentences that can be used when asking questions to people around you during a disaster. -Links Links to other sources of information that may be necessary during disaster situations (contact information of embassy, nearest tourist centers, etc.), and other information concerning disasters and tourism.-About seismic intensity scale Explanation concerning the intensity of an earthquake is provided (according to the seismic intensity scale).-About Weather Warnings Explanations on Weather Warnings and appropriate responses to the warnings are available.-About Volcanic Warnings Explanations on Volcanic Warnings and appropriate responses to the warnings are available.
While the Application and Earthquake Early Warnings/Tsunami Warnings information are free, communication charges related to download and use of Application shall be borne by the user.
We will not be liable for any losses and/or damages resulting from the use of the Application.

For three days before the hurricane hit, I tried to use this app, but it refused to move past the "select your country of origin" screen and asked me to try again later. Now, the morning after, I just tried it again on a whim and it worked. Guys, I understand that you want to collect survey data, but maybe not being able to do that shouldn't make the app stop working and not give vital emergency information.
Able to select language but unable to select country of origin. Application won't run without this selection being completed. Please fix this so it works properly. It is not useful to have an application for foreigners in Japan if it doesn't work. If this was for Japanese public it would have been fixed immediately!
Daily loud alarms about hot weather -- NOT useful! I installed this app a year ago so that I could stay informed about tornadoes and earthquakes when in Japan. Never had any alerts. But in July 2020 it suddenly started giving frequent LOUD alarms about hot weather, even though it isn't actually particularly hot. Also, under the medical section it contains no mention of covid, which would seem a greater safety concern than normal summer weather... Uninstalling...
Doesn't work with Galaxy note 8. It can't save English / Japanese configuration. (Error) Update: it is working now. I took my phone out of it's case and completed the configuration. Another issue was typhoon Hagibis and Internet connections in Japan.
Great app with lots of useful information and advice for travelling in Japan. Guides on what to do in an earthquake or how ambulances work, for example, are clearly written. Thankfully didn't need any of it, but it was reassuring to have it installed just in case!
It worked during summertime for heat warnings, but didn't get any warnings during the last typhoon, even though the areas I selected were on purple and red alert. I am considering uninstalling, it seems useless when it really counts.
Can't get past the 'select country of origin' page after selecting English for language. No matter what country I choose, it'll load for a bit and then an error message flashes up saying I can't select that country because it can't be saved.
Exactly same issue as : It keeps failing when trying to add country of origin. It would be great if this can be fixed, otherwise its useless. Crucial day, and app is failing.
** 8/11/2019 ** ** Update ** Thank you developers team, now it is working. ............................................... The app is not working. It stops at the beginning at 2nd step asking about the country. There is no way to continue ! Please, try to fix it.
I select country of origin, then I get an error saying that this modification could not be saved. Using Android 9. The app does not work.
At first it was great to get the emergency warnings in English. For the last week or so every single morning at 7am I've been getting a "heat advisory" notification. It's not even hot yet guys. Don't make me uninstall this app over it.
Useless. The app fails immediately after selecting the language and country of origin, saying "this modification could not be saved".
I downloaded this because the Japanese government said to in the wake of this big typhoon that's hitting tonight. You have to put in "Country of Origin" after selecting your language at which point the app crashes. Guess I'm riding the biggest typhoon since 1958 out without any tips
Cannot get past the Country of Origin slide. It keeps saying this modification cannot be saved, please try again later. Edit: Thank you for replying, I hope it works out for the future travelers.
It keeps failing when trying to add country of origin. It would be great if this can be fixed, otherwise its useless.
Does not work. After selecting English it gets stuck in place of origin and cannot proceed any further. It does not load any country selected at random too. Is it really helpful for tourists?
A typhoon is about to hit my area and im trying to find information on evacuations. The app wont even let me set up which country im from. Therefore, i cant even ise the app. Very frustrating!
This is just a waste of your time. I thought this would help me with the typhoon Hagibis but I can't even put the language and the country from. To think that it is the first interface of the app.
It is not working when needed most (immediately before typhoon 19 hits): after selecting the language and country of origin it keeps loading and then gives an error that does not allow you to proceed.
Still no support for Android 9 after many months of them being aware of this bug. Terrible timing since the super typhoon is coming
Just like everyone else, I can't get past the select country phase. What a joke, especially after the foreign minister released an announcement recommending this app be downloaded. g
Need an option to turn off the stupid heat advisory warnings... Yes I know it is hot and humid outside in Japanese summer, I don't need to be reminded of it everyday...
I got a tsunami warning telling me to run for high ground even though the tsunami was headed to Miyagi and I am far far away in Kanagawa. If this app is going to be like the boy who cried wolf what is the point? response to response- if other apps like yahoo can give relevant alerts in japanese why can't this one? giving someone an alert to run for high ground due to a tsunami when that person is nowhere near the tsunami zone is worse than pointless. it creates fear and panic for no reason.
Great app! Provides updates! Essential phrases for a foreigner living abroad! Multiple weather updates! Love it!
Unfortunately, first attempt to set it up failed with origin country. Now it just keeps crushing. Points for a good idea.
Useless app. Asks me to input country of origin. App doesn't let me progress further. Terrible! Uninstalling!
Sadly, it is impossible to install this app on Android 10. It would have been helpful during Typhoon Hagibis.
The app doesn't work as of 9/14/2018. After launching the app and trying to choose language, it crashes. Tried multiple languages but it still crashes and doesn't continue to setup. Using Google Pixel 2 smartphone with Android 9 Pie. This app would be very useful as I live in Japan and all alerts come in Japanese and in an emergency it's difficult to try and translate into English.
