It would be so much more helpful if, on the app, it told you what was "sold out" instead of not knowing until your order arrives - only to find several items were unavailable. I don't know if this is an app bug or the picker's fault, but in Nov, 2021, I had every item marked NOT to substitute but when the order arrived, several of the items were not what I had ordered. Had this happen once before, as well.

Terrible experience. They charged me $150 MORE than the total of my order then seemed irritated when I complained and demanded a refund. The shopper substituted a $15 item for a $3 item and didn't even bother to ring the bell when they dropped the stuff off. So it was sitting outside for who knows how long. My order was also incomplete and was missing certain things. I will NEVER use this delivery service again and might not even shop in store with them anymore.

All the fun of having groceries, without the hassle! In our experience, the Safeway delivery service is an absolute crock. Too many missing items, and over 2-3 hours late for several months straight. But the pick up service? Awesome! For over two months now, every week, they were only late once. The orders are almost always completely fulfilled. The app itself has a few quirks, mostly about how you search, what terms you use. But I'll never go back to DIY shopping. This is the best!

I love the online delivery, it's quick and efficient. It saves me SO much time. The app is nice, I like the shop aisles option as well as search bar. I also appreciate the option of viewing ingredients on items. I wish there was a way to not use the plastic bags, though. I'd rather have loose items, but I realize that might be more difficult for employees.

Spent forever navigating this app to order the items I wanted. When I try to check out, it tells me that my code to save $20 and get free delivery is on there twice (it's not), and one must be removed. So I remove the only one there, and it adds the $20 and delivery fee back on. I add the code again, it tells me it's on there twice. No matter what I do, it doesn't work. Free delivery & $20 off motivated me to give delivery a try. But I guess I'm not getting groceries. What a waste of time.

The app is so terrible. When you are looking through your past purchases and select one to repurchase, it adds it and then returns to the top of the list again instead of staying at the same place as you were on the list. I have 700 items I've purchased from Safeway. It is so annoying to have to refind your place each time you select something to add to the cart. No joke it just took 40 minutes of fighting and spinning through items over and over to add 17 items to my delivery. Unacceptable

There are a lot of issues with this app. It is far from intuitive. Changing an order from delivery to pick up is nearly impossible. I had to go to the website to fix it. When my password didn't work, it kept sending me back to the log in screen when I hit "forgot password." Plus a million other issues I have had just today using this app for the first time. I thought I'd only get my $20 off/SAVE20 on delivery. Now I can't apply it, as it isn't my 1st order. BS!!

Several times I've been charged for items that have never shown up and items have been substituted for not even close to what I ordered, even though I know where to find it in the store. It is the cheapest grocery delivery service out there but you get what you pay for. If you don't mind something going missing every order, or, in one instance, them claiming there is no chicken in the entire store, despite asking for substitutions, then it's OK and convenient.

The biggest problem with having your groceries delivered, is the fact that you don't get the option to select something else if they don't have it. Many items are often sub'd (by poorly selected replacements) or they're just out of stock altogether. You'd think after they assembled your order, they could call you to go over the things that they couldn't find and have a list of replacement items for you to pick from before your delivery went out, I guess that'd be too good of cust service.

This app is user-friendly. The first order experience was perfect, but the second order was dissapointing. 7 food items were missing that I was charged for ($19.75 value). Then I got 3 extra jars of spaghetti sauce that I didn't order. Refund was very easy--just call the delivery/pick up customer service. I had an option to have a money refund back to my account (3-5 days) or missing items to be delivered again. My excitement using their delivery/pick up service has now changed.

I used this APP and it worked excellently!! It was easy to use and had plenty of choices for the items I needed. The delivery service is excellent! Very accurate! If you have someone who can't go shopping due to mobility problems try this. You have to search for the bargins they have the same things you can find in the store.

Surprisingly quick and decent. Doesn't throw a lot of UI nonsense or pointless friction or advertising at you, it just makes it quick to find and add things to your cart, or make changes. It's a little weird that it's not just part of the main Safeway app, but when it's this straightforward and usable I really can't complain. If only other ordering systems would be half as good.

Wish it had an *any size AND any brand* option too. I wish they had an option to change quantity to 0 (in addition to the remove link), so it doesn't refresh immediately after each item, and then an update button at the bottom. It could just be my slow internet The drop down to change substitutions is annoying. It takes too long and sometimes scrolls up by itself. Also it should have those options right underneath the item without having a drop down.

It takes special skills to build a search engine that does not find anything. I tried several items that I knew were available in the store and on Instacart, but this search found nothing. Another issue: cannot edit the search line; the moment you touch it, it is cleared, and you have to retype the whole thing again. There are more, but this is enough for the review

It would be nice if there was some kind of warning before you got the physical groceries that they were out of items. Over half my order was missing, when I went I. The store there were su substitutes for several things, but the receipt claimed there wasn't. Not worth the time since you have to enter the store to complete your order anyway. I only tried the pickup feature.

Frustrating. I always select same brand, different size only for substitution on my orders but on too high of a percentage of deliveries I get different brands--in my house we have food allergies & health concerns that limit what we eat. Food that ends up wasted because it doesn't get eaten & I can't even find someone to take the food from us. I can't trust the results so I can't use the app for delivery any more. Great idea, too often poor results.

great application. was able to order all my groceries on the Safeway app on my smart phone. Sometimes you have to type in individually the item you want is it may not appear in the general category you're interested in. but it is very convenient and overall an excellent tool to order groceries and have them delivered to your home with nothing you have to do personally

I still have difficulty navigating the program it takes so long to find the products I want. Dont see where I can use my reward points. I also don't like that the program doesn't show the sale price and then I have difficulty understanding the steps taken to show the price change. However i like yhat i don't have to carry the groceries in from the car.

Just No. At first I could not sign into the app on my phone. Sign in and other difficulties on Safeway's website go back a long time, too. They seem to have fixed that one thing for me but perhaps causing other concerns in the process. It's also very difficult to place an order. There's no way for me to build off past orders, although they make it look possible, and you spend a lot of time trying. The workings of the app, and the online shopping process in general are unbelievably clunky.

I gave 2 stars because the app itself is fine and the delivery itself is fine. The product "availability" is extremely disappointing. I have never been to a grocery store where there are no limes, zucchini, milk, etc. but without fail 1/4 of my order is always "out of stock". However if I order from Safeway through Instacart, they can get me every item I ask for. There's no use in paying double the delivery fee for safeway if I have to reorder my groceries every time to get what I want.

The delivery people are very nice, refunds, scheduling & rescheduling are easy, but it could be better. Most of the discounts and coupons available in the Safeway App don't transfer over and I think every order I've had was missing at least 1 item. Also I haven't figured out if they can use reusable bags, so I now have a LOT of plastic bags. When I asked if they would take them back I was told they'll just throw them away.

Hate this new app. Hard to navigate and find what I want. I don't get my clipped offers when I check out. I end up having to go to customer service each visit. Last visit it removed my rewards coupon I used my points on. Every time I open it, it goes straight to delivery/ pickup order. I have to figure out how to change it every time. Everything now seems random and disorganized. Will not be using or shopping Safeway anymore because of this new updated terrible app.

I like the app well enough, it's pretty easy once you get used to it. Though Safeway doesn't take their own giftcards online, which I didn't know so I still have to shop in-store. There also doesn't seem to be a function connected to the main Safeway app and the deals list I selected there, even with the same login, so I had to find them a second time. I'd also really like a filter for different diets, like vegetarian especially, or maybe kosher.

Safeway is easily the worst delivery. For one, they bombard you with promo emails... then they refuse to give you the promo. I signed up for a service that was supposed to be free, but was still charged. When I called, they said I did something months ago that made me ineligible for the promo. They told me I wouldn't be getting my money back. They also deliver late about 80% of the time. I even had it where they showed up at 11pm (delivery window 4pm to 8pm)! I was asleep!

The application is easy to use at first, but horrible customer service and unreliable online shopping program. I placed an online order yesterday at safeway for the first time. I received the confirmation email for delivery after selecting my desired time slot. Unfortunately, the delivery never came through. I did not receive any cancelation notification or email. I thought the order was just simply delayed, but it never showed up. I am unable to check the status of the order through the app.
