SAFires
It utilises data from the South Australia Country Fire Service data feeds on fires with your current location provided by the phone GPS.
Using this information the application is able to provide a list of fires showing the nearest ones first, helping you to understand your current situation.
The information is reliant on both the accuracy of the phone's GPS and the data recorded on the CFS's website.
This application does not cache any data, so Internet access (either Wireless. or 3G) is required to access the data.
Be aware that while P4G has utilised "best efforts" to provide this information to you, it is not intended to replace other sources of information on the fire situation near you. Also remember that fire and weather can change quickly.

This was a very useful app but since upgrading to Android 11, I dont receive notifications any more and cannot set a watch zone (either through settings or long press on map...) I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling with no success. Samsung S10.
When I switch to map it doesn't work just goes black. When I try and add a zone it only allows me to put my home address in not my property address aswell. This is a stupid app. I thought they were doing one like the old one.
I love it it's simple easy to use, especially if you need to look at it quick for fires were they are. Also if close to home were. you might need to evacuate. Does it give us warning noise if a fire close to home. Especially that I have 6 animals, 5 are cats i need them in there crates to put in the car. Sometimes our lives are very busy. I didn't know about the fires didnt see the news. Especially if not home & I need time to get home to get animals & myself to saftey. A alert sound be good
The audible alerts are great but ive noticed today they take about 20 mins after being listed in the notifications before they are sent? is there a way to speed this up? 20 mins is a long time if you live in a bushfire zone!
Good functional app. However definitions do not cover all the icons that appear on the map. Eg satellite icons, warning icons.
A good, effective app. It would be good to be able to turn off notifications for tree down and fire alarm.
This used to be the best app. Now it doesn't work. Can't set watch zones. No map. Doesn't work.
Watch zone has no delete option, i set watch zone foe 60km range and gave me fromm 220 kms away not good at all. I thinking of deleting app.
Its getting better. Unsure about timelines of data, and setting zones is a little tricky
Very handy app but could do with an option to attach a notification tone to it when emergencies do occur in a watch zone
Next to useless if you want to set up a watch zone!!! NSW RFS app is fantastic for NSW. Thus app is useless for SA!!
I was charged for this app. It was like 1.03 USD but don't remember seeing that there was a charge for it what up with that
Accurate and upto date but fires in my watch zone did not trigger an alert.
Seems to have improved but still slow to update completed fires.
It has stopped alerting me of incidents in my watch zones, all app settings are on
can't set watch zones or alter notifications.

KISS PRINCIPLE SUCCESSFULLY APPLIED (Keep It Simple Stupid). This app doesn't do all that I want YET! Like similar apps eg AlertSA once did, but this has a massive, fundamental and significant difference - IT'S MAINTAINED & CURRENT!!! At the time I'm composing this it's the only one that is, that's ultimately significant! So do yourself a favour, look at the date of the latest update in the blurb of any other relevant app, especially the paid subscription apps and you'll notice they aren't maintained and this one is. That's half the reason I'm calling this the best in the South Aussie market. The other half of the reason is that it isn't complex & difficult to use. This app's invaluable and priceless. If it had roads info, eg flooded, 4wd only, closed etc I would want for nothing. If it had a link to share on Facebook like it has Twitter I'd even go so far as to give it a perfect 5 stars rating.
It's currently the best fire alert app than what is available atm but it needs more options to choose what kind of notification you want to hear about e.g. Fires in watch zone not every tree down in the zone in a 20km area
Easy to use and reliable. During recent fires in SA all notifications came through when needed and updated accordingly. Only thing that would be good to add is the coloured watch and emergency zones like in the cfs website and the fire maps which would eliminate switching between multiple pages and apps. Watch zones dissapear randomly too?
