This uses tonnes of cell data and no way to configure how many pictures it takes or for how long it records an event. The remote control app cannot "Stop Eye", it just doesn't work. t waits for ever and times out. Of course it has internet - how else could I get the events I so badly want to stop????? The remote app cannot do any configuration of the device being used to detect motion. And no website either to manage. So you MUST be at the device itself to configure. So much for doing a place and forget setup.
I used this years ago and have come back to it again. I was happy then and happy again going through the functions, updates and improvements. Works well as a security camera or in my case keeping people's hands off my tablet. (my case covers the front camera) when opened it sends me a text message immediately. Plus takes their pic times about 20. Easy to view and clear pics, or save them. Glad they continue to make it better. Happy customer!
The software is unreliable. Often fails to connect even though network is running fine, and after these failures the phone running the control app needs to be restarted before the software can connect with the camera device. Ridiculous. Even then, it will report connection failures for many minutes before it finally reports that the eye is armed. And after event deletion, the app stupidly reports it can't find that event. Amateur, incompetent software. And support is very poor-euther there is no response to a bug report, or we're told that bug is already fixed. The app doesn't even register itself correctly in Androud Nougat, which offers to install it on a phone where it's already running. A waste of time and money.
5 stars if you make a set of pictures scrollable. Very annoying to click photo-click back-click next photo-click back... My cat ran away and we've been trying to lure her back. Thanks to this app I've discovered that the neighbor cat has been taking advantage of our traps. Very useful. Going to turn the alarm function on tonight to see if I can scare it away for good.
This could be so good, but many flaws. 5 min cooldown minimum between detections is ridiculous. Also you cant swipe or scroll through the captured images. You have to back out of each image to view the next one. And you cant delete individual images, only entire event folders. Fix these issues and this is a great app.
I have a phone mounted in my car. I find that when setting to the lowest level of detection it still triggers too easily. I would like to see the option to only trigger if it detects sustained movement for a set period of time ie 10 seconds. Other then that I really like this app.
This App is soo good, and so much better than others I have tried out such as expensive Ring and Uniden Solo Mk.2 both of which had to be returned for a refund because of their useless Apps. I am disappointed to hear that Salient Eye is closing down, it seems because of lack of revenue, and maybe lack of support from Google. If Salient had a more expensive plan than the current one of just $2.99 a month I would have gladly paid it. Anyhow I am extremely sorry to see you go Salient Eye and wish you all the best for your future projects as you are clearly very talented.
Installed on Samsung Galaxy S3. Works fine with front camera, but not the back. Front cam displays, detects, notifies properly. Back cam black screen on the device and snow on the remote. All permissions granted. Reinstalled app, restarted phone, all the standard troubleshooting. Presume it is a driver issue. App is good, just not for this device.
This is perfect for me. I can leave this app running on a old phone in my allotment shed. I will get a message that tells me if someone is in there, pictures/video and even have the option of an alarm going off if I want to. Thank for such an amazing solution for my shed issue
I have installed this application due to a reason that it being required and I have been searching and trying all sorts of applications on the play store with no avail being either the application not being stable enough on older devices or not compatible with the situation being evident so I could make use of the dusty old phones and tablets I have sitting around. For this application in general, I cant really say much due to not having the time it says after creating the account today (12/11/18 930AM) and having a 3h window when the application responded a 7d trial after creation, this happening well before the end of the trial period demanding a subscription to continue to use the application as intended. Don't get me wrong, the application does as intended, however applications for old devices like mine, no later than 4.4.2 to 5.1.1 dont communicate well or at all, causing me to change applications within a 7d period. With this in mind, I can't recommend this application due to lack of time it has provided me, nor will I be seeking the subscription it so demands for the continued use of this application.
It's a great idea, but it doesn't work. I activated it, then the screen turned black saying it was detected. But no matter how many times i moved in front of the camera, it never deter motion. I don't know if it's something wrong with my phone or with the app, but my camera works perfectly fine. Is there something I'm supposed to do that I missed?
the biggest three draw backs are one, the motion sensor is to sensitive,two,in order to delete photos be to use your password for each set of pictures why can't you set a it so each time one accesses that part of it the password is valad, three no night vision at all.
On honor 8 after updating, formating phone and setting up everything from tutorial on lock screen app is running (three beep) nothing hapend (not sending email) Please fix this issue or add full dimm function like in Black screen apk. Ps. Quick video Recorder can record after screen is locked.
The only major downside to this app is that there is no option to save pictures to your phone - useful for when you want to take pictures of birds/wildlife coming to a feeding station out of range of your wi-fi.
Despite i'm using this everyday, sms Messaging had been remove though it's more faster than email, internet connection is so quick to drain battery charged, not fit to my necessity now, i need the previous version :( i found out it's about new google apps policy. Still hoping that messaging policy may return, it saves more on battery consumption and from wearing out, and it's more economical, past notification sending through sms is an additional advantage i most needs.
Email alerts work now, but "Block home button on exit" stopped working for 2 weeks now. So an intruder can tap on the app's exit button or the home button to easily get access to my everything on my device.
I would have/will give this a 5++ if you fix one thing: In the description of the app please add weather or not we need wifi, phone service, or whatever in order to set up and/or network. That's all.😁 Other than that: AWESOME FRICKEN APP DUDES! LOL!
Needs some improvement be able to delete alerts just like goim to a bar night then after party after blacking out there normally isn't some of the best pics.. iukwim. Video and audio would b good to have to
Great app! Used it for a long time for peace of mind; especially when traveling. Sadly, I just received an email stating that the service is shutting down this month, so I will be looking for alternatives.
Was working before, but now no longer sends email alerts. Tried different email addresses using the test function. Something has gone wrong with the app
Having trouble connecting from the camera to the remote from an alternative device ,but then again it could be my lack of knowledge at doing things like this with technology
It takes pictures when triggered. I was looking more for one that records for 10 seconds after being triggered.
Set it up between Xiaomi Mi A1 and Samsung S6. S6 as a remote control. Crashes on Xiaomi. This is supposed to be used with older phones everyone has in their home. Not going to work, I think.
App is Awesome! BAR NONE!!! I caught a burglar with this app! called the police filed a report, it was my next door neighbor. Fully functional before. Now photos are no longer emailed. Does not send SMS alerts due to Play Store policy apparently.
For some reason the app says "No internet connection. Please connect to the internet and try again" whenever I try to arm with email alerts and I do have the pro version. Please Help
It is so simple. Download the app. Choose camera front or back. A few simple settings, enter an email to be notified. That is what I wanted - a simple and immediate notification if someone entered the room when I was gone. I got that - immediate email. Nothing complicated. I will use it a few more times to check all the features, then update my review, but it looks good so far.
