Samsung Smart Home

I installed it then I uninstalled it, no reason to need access to my contact list or to photos or other media. I'm so tired of developers adding on unnecessary permissions that have no bearing on the functionality of the app. Sorry Samsung, for far too long big tech has been prying into every aspect of our lives, I refuse to give away any more of my personal information in the name of modern convenience!

Non functional! Like a few others noted... when I try to add a device, it asks me to log in again, then it returns a text string that includes "signInSuccess", but doesn't do anything! Tried everything at this point. For others out there... if you think you're buying a smart washer or dryer... you're wrong. It would seem that testing and quality control are problems now for Samsung!

Simply horrible and useless app. I have a Samsung washer and a dryer and had such a hard time going through the initial setup. Nothing worked until I googled and found a suggestion to disconnect a mobile connection. After that glitchy setup was finally completed, the app would simply useless. No notifications, nothing. If I open the app, then it takes a minute to show how long to go but it keeps disconnecting continuously. I am running Android 9.0 with the September security patch on Pixel 2 XL if that helps. I also have 3 LG kitchen appliances and their app is simply outstanding!

Horrible, doesn't even launch. Bought Samsung AC bc it had an app and we wanted the ability to turn it on and off remotely, but after a few months the app completely stopped working and won't even open, just crashes. Avoid Samsung "smart" appliances and electronics, the apps are a disaster and it's a waste of money if you want to actually be able to use an app to do anything....

Not supported any longer. But it won't tell you that until you sign up and verify your email. Then a pop up appears telling you it won't work anymore and to download the new version... Which doesn't work either. Great job samsung. I'll remember this along with the two year old microwave that comes on spontaneously and causes fires.

constantly wants me to setup my washing machine, sends me notifications from the machine so it is connected but always says disconnected and never allows me to interact with the machine unless I re-setup the machine, which lasts just one wash then back to failing. using on a note 8 so you'd think they'd be able to work together, and yes I've also tried the smart things app. just as useless.

An embarrassment to software engineers everywhere. If you have a current Android device the WiFi setup flat out will not work. This could be avoided if Samsung simply prevented the app from being installed by devices running late versions of Android on the Play Store. Then at least you wouldn't have to waste time figuring your device is incompatible, because like their own devices, Samsung can't be bothered to keep their software current. Abysmal.

Does not connect to WiFi. Trying to connect this to a Samsung device. The app can not connect and its stuck in the loop displaying "Searching for AP". There is a text input field to enter AP name (Wifi name) but when trying to enter text, it just goes in auto search mode and displays "Searching for AP" and never comes out of it.

this app will not connect with my washer/dryer anymore. like everyone else, it took hours for me to finally get my appliances linked, even with the airplane mode trick, and now months later it says the appliances are disconnected, but i still get a notification when they shut off ("The status of your ... has changed"). very annoying!

Samsung tech writers and app developers fail miserably in the instructions. To connect, you have to put your phone in airplane mode otherwise the vacuum cannot find the network. Why does this app need permissions to contacts and my phone? That's intrusive and unnecessary. Ill probably just use the remote and skip the data mining app.

Even basic functionality in this app does not work. adding a range oven gets stuck in an infuriating loop of trying to detect access points, and doesnt even let you enter the SSID manually. Ever configuration step requires entering a captcha. Furthermore, thr app requests an obsene level of permissions to your device including files, contacta, etc.

what horrible app. takes you in circles, logged in 4 times in a row. used two step verification, then when you go to add a device, you get sent back to log in screen, ad naseum. never could get it to do ANYTHING EXCEPT ASK FOR PERMISSIONS THAT IT SHOULD NOT NEED. Why would it need access to my contacts? I think Samsung has convinced me to get a different hub.

Useless and untrustworthy app. Forces permissions for a lot of unnecessary data like contacts or phone calls,... which are not needed for it's functionalites. Furthermore it's useless, since all my devices are displayed as disconnected after some days of usage. A reconnection always forces a new password & captcha input for every single device, even if you saved the password before. Google should remove this trash from the play store immediately.

I purchased a new kitchen appliance that would be nice to connect with via this app. However, when the permissions requested access to contacts, permission to make phone calls and access to my device's files, and locstion... I declined and immediately uninstalled. These permissions provide too much access for the intended use. If I could give zero stars, I would rate that low.

Great when it used to work. These days it says devices not connected. But devices are on and connected to the web, even able to check for updates. So where is it not connected? Puzzling. It works occasionally but that is quite rare these days. It was much more reliable 5 years ago when i first used it.

Awful experience. I've spent the last hour unsuccessfully trying to connect wi-fi. It's hit or miss and then when the app finally finds wi-fi it fails to link the washer and I have to re-add the washer to the app and try again. I'm giving up. Nice washer horrible firmware. Come on Samsung...please improve this app.

No idea why it doesn't work. Installed it and gave it all the permissions..still not sure why it wanted access to my contacts, files, and the ability to make calls! Very suspect! Crashes and doesn't even let me in! Uninstalled it and very disappointed that SmartThings disappeared for this garbage!,

This app was working at first but since the recent update we had to switch to smart things which is not compatible with my device which doesn't make sense because my device is a smasung. This is pretty disappointing because I was hoping to put up some new photos.

I really like Samsung products, but this app is very disappointing. The app is unstable, extremely feature limited, and doesn't work at all with Google home. I didn't understand this until I had already invested in Samsung split units. Hopefully this will help someone avoid my same mistake.

Brand new phone. Updated the firmware, downloaded this app. It doesn't work. It literally will not launch on a phone that just came out of the box. Website tells me to clear caches, reinstall, etc. IT'S A BRAND NEW PHONE. There is no cache. Literally nothing to interfere with this app. It simply doesn't work. It's a joke.

Samsung account already exists error, retry option (same error), cancel option (closes the app). Useless. I cant remove the option to turn on tv in the morning. Even in smartthings disable, my tv turn on everyday because of an option in this useless app (samsung smart home).

One of the worst applications that I ever installed on my phone's!! The App is useless, - Can't find the new Air Conditioner. - The App request for entering Email, Password and "Security Code" every time I open it, even if it already runs at the background after entering the email, password and the "Security Code". - After all that miserable process, the app can't find any Air Conditioner.

The app works perfectly with my robot vacuum. The only issue I had was getting the wifi initially setup on the vacuum but once I turned off mobile data on my phone everything just worked. I am running the latest Android 9 version on my pixel 2 and the app does everything is supposed to do. I don't understand why people are saying that it only works with older versions of Android. Good job Samsung

My phone could be on top of the washer or dryer trying to connect to it to no avail. Took me hours to set-up initially and now i couldn't change anything coz it's always just "disconnected". So much for convenience. Glad the washer and dryer has been working ok.
