The most useful feature of the app is directions from one attraction to the next, but the app uses a lot of cell-phone power, and (perhaps for that reason or because of poor cell reception with my provider, T-Mobile?) it misled me hilariously at one point. I reverted to the paper map after that and never used the app again. I wanted more information about the animals. (Why isn't there more information on the signs on the animal habitats?) And I would have appreciated citizen-science assignments.

really useful app. I'm navigationally challenged and the map usually orients me. it could add some details for orientation purposes and add arrows in direction you're currently walking. also would be fun to add challenges/games for kids to play to explore the zoo.

After using app for my weekly visit, I found some great info. If only they had copied the printed map to the app. The current map is totally unusable on a phone. Without a properly usable map 3 is my rating. FIX the map.

Planning trip function was confusing and froze. Able to use location and have checklists but hard to actually route the experience and path for more than one item at a time.

the app is ok as far as overview of where the animals and locations of intetest are, the down side is that it dosent show you stairs when navigating. so if you make a wrong turn and you have a stroller or wheel chair a 5min walk turns into a 20minute hike. the app and navigation can use an improvement.

The map works fairly well, but really wish there was some kind of audio tour or more additional info about the animals and exhibits as you walk around.

What a fantastic place, the bus drivers were a real highlight, super friendly and helpful and very knowledgeable. Will 100% return in the future

an easy means to display and use my pass via the app. also I use it to learn what thing is featured during the s dry.

I'm glad this app exists, but it needs work. My biggest trouble was with the innaccuracy of my location. The other issues that I had were: vehicle only roads weren't marked; the Reptile Trail was not clearly distinguished from the Reptile House, and there were a couple exhibits of large birds between markers 14 and 15 that I could see that were not on the app.

Maps are useless. It will create an itinerary, which sounds good, in that it will suggest an order to go in if you click the animals you want to see. And it gives a little info about the animal. But the maps just show a paw print on a graphic with trees and a path. No context to where this square is in the entire zoo. No name of the path. Nothing at all is labeled. Nothing to guide you.

The app and the physical map are hard to reconcile. If you look at the physical map its super easy to tell where you are based on the red marker locations. The app doesn't have those so you have to zoom in and out just to tell where you are which is really annoying. Very little info about shops and dining built into the app. No way to tell what the animals are until you click on them. Bottom line I would plan your route using the physical map and use the app as supplement.

Pretty much the only usable feature is the map since its nice to have your location. But otherwise there is no useful functionality. Doesn't tell you which exhibits are open or which animals are out. Doesn't have up to date menus for the dining locations. The list of animals glitched out for like half the day as well, not showing the orangutans as an exhibit when I was already standing in front of them. Also, the map is oriented 90 degrees off from the physical map for some reason.

App is a great that it is able to store my annual pass and make it easy to enter the zoo, but really could be more useful. It would be great if it could use the GPS in my phone to show me where in the zoo I am on the map and give me directions to specific attractions that want to see. Good idea, but could be much better, and would greatly improve my zoo experience

This app was hard to navigate when your location was not constantly up to date on the map;it was hard to move around the map when the map does not completely allow you to interact with it like Google Maps. Another thing is that when I reopened the app after turning the location off, it would not allow for me to use location again because the icon refused show. Maybe the app could directing people to the closest exhabits of the exhibits and letting visitors check off each one they have visited.

Very handy to have but the map is somewhat difficult compared to the illustrated one on paper. It needs to have the color separation for the different areas and it would be great if the markers for the animal exhibits were little caricatures instead of all the same paw because you'll just keep clicking through random. And having the back button exit the app instead of clear the animal tab that pops up on the bottom is annoying. That needs to change or have it swipe to exit tab.

It's worth it to review animals and mark them as "plan" to visit. You can mark them off once you've seen them. You can also add your tickets so they're handy. It's useful for food. Didn't rate the app higher since it closed often when mapping to an animal. APP Suggestion: have the map tailored to reflect your plan. Then people can assess their path upon what they want to see. Also, add a sort feature to plan so you can see how many minutes away exhibits are (instead of simply alphabetized).

We ended using the paper map because the map in the app is not very user friendly. Very disappointing the lack of lists of animals to check what you already saw. The app allows you to create a plan, but if you try to add all wildlife, it freezes and breaks. This app needs an important review

I found that I used the paper map more than app to find where habitats were for our trip. I like the "idea" of the directions feature, but it actually didn't give directions, so again, not helpful. I would use it again for planning my trip and such in the future though.

Had a wonderful day at the zoo. Took the bus tour first to get an overview of the park, then set out on foot. Restrooms were clean. Great variety of food. Very good food. Workers very helpful to assist with directions. Down load the app for navigation. Helps alot!

This app does not give you a recommended walking path based on your activities. It's just a glorified map and to-do list. The really sad thing is all the data is there to make the app super useful but they don't use it effectively.

Die. H. Mar 27, 2022

I wish there was a way to view the map of selected animals or attractions so we could more easily plan our route. Or at least have the ability to sort by distance from me so I know what's close by from my list.

Jes. L. Nov 29, 2021

The app would crash regularly while using it. Also the GPS is very inaccurate leaving you to backtrack when the GPS updates and shows you were walking the wrong direction. The prompt for whether or not I want a more handicap friendly route should not pop up constantly while using this app. Nice pictures and walking estimates though.

I messed up and didnt use it 'til the end but it seemed pretty great! It would be perfect if it could give you a "best" route based on the animals you want to see. I imagine it could even be possible to factor in best time to see certain animals.

App is great and provides solid directions. Also love the accessibility of it by showing you routes that are wheelchair accessible and such. My only complaint/request is to give you the option to request your activities be organized in the most effecient way (which animals to see when based on what you wanna see).

Basic GPS function and pathfinding is there and it can be very helpful. The zoo is heavily forested and hilly (therefore weak satellite signals). There's a lot of room for improvement and expansion but I recommend it.

Not a replacement for the paper map. The map in app is hard to use and is not easy as the paper one. Not sure why they opted for satalite view instead of clear trails and paths. It's all greenary. Also Paw symbols instead of the animal icon. You have to click onto each to know what they are. I found the app useless while visiting

Helped us navigate through BOTH the Zoo and Wild Animal Park, both of which were awesome during these COVID times. The cleanliness, spacing at exhibits and our ability to explore with a year-old child was comforting and this app helped locate bathrooms, restaurants and everything else in between.

Mar. K. May 11, 2021

The app behaves fairly well. It would be nice if it accounted for the 1-way paths when providing guidance. Additionally, being able to mark off the exhibits you've visited would also be helpful. Otherwise it was great to use vs. paper

jer. u. Mar 16, 2019

The app freezes up constantly. It's very inconvenient to use in the park when it's not freezing up since the location isn't precious enough to be helpful in the many overlapping trails. Get a paper map and use the trail signs.

Map fails to update when you move. Info about tours and events is difficult to find. Unsurprisingly, they make it easy to find ways of upgrading your experience for more $$. You're better off just using the paper map.
