Now that I had time to play this I can properly review it. The game is very well designed, nostalgic and fun to play. A few things could be better. Clues about the suspect are annoyingly rare. It's common to visit all three locations on 2 or 3 countries in a row with one or not even a single clue about the suspect, only about the next destination. Once you have enough of the clues to issue a warrant you usually have to travel to 4, 5 or even 6 new destinations before arresting the suspect. I almost lost a game having to travel six times for this. A few things the could be better: the game could be harder overrall. More suspects (more clues needed for a warrant), more than 3 options to travel to, capital cities instead of countries on the list, more info to fill on the warrant. Also the last screen where you arrest the suspect could be a pixelated image to maintain the theme. Again, the game is good and fun and I'll play for a long time. It just have room for a few improvements.

Really enjoy this game, but I think it's desperately in need of more suspects, more hair colors, painters, writers, accessories, etc. It becomes very easy to pick the suspect once you've played a few times and that sucks its replayability out. Might even help to randomize some of the suspects. It could also benefit from maybe having a unique factor the original didn't. However it seems the developer is still working on this so we'll see!

Great game... for 30 minutes. I didnt know this was a game ported from an older platform, but I love the whole idea and concept and it's very fun... for the first 5 cases. Unfortunately, its so awfully repetitive to the point that every single one of the suspects has only 5 identity traits for a profile, and every case is (high value item) has been stolen from (location you start in). If you did one, you did every them all! I do recommend downloading as it's fun, but we want to see more depth!

A blast from the past! I was reminiscing about the game I played as a kid and sad that it was no more. I decided to search for an app that may be similar and was blown away when I found this!! It is so much like the original where the educational content is invaluable and still fun. Graphics are low quality but that's in the spirit of the original so no complaints there. The clues need a little tweaking with grammar and word choice at times but it doesn't affect gameplay. Thanks developers!

EDIT: The new update fixed all the problems so it's now 5 stars. I really wanted to like it. A real blast from my past. Started well, just like I remembered. Then, on the 3rd mission, when in the starting city the clue screen just shows 3 boxes with 'Place'. Clicking these does nothing except advance the time. I have reinstalled and cleared data. No change. Please fix and I will happily give 5 stars.

Update: Think Tesla responded to this issue very swiftly, and it has since been resolved. I am no longer having any issues with the game. Thanks guys - great throwback to Carmen Sandiego! Love the game! :) Original Review: 1* I want to play the game, but after the tutorial mission, the game breaks. When trying to Search to start out a new mission, the three search options all just list "Place" and cannot be selected. Traveling to another country does not solve this Search issue. As it is currently, the game is unplayable.

It was fun to play a few cases as a reminder of the old game. This quickly became too repetitive to be worth continuing. It keeps sending you to the same countries and giving the exact same clues for different cases. I'm glad I downloaded it but I'm deleting it after only 5 cases and I should have stopped after the 3rd. I like that it is still very basic like the floppy disk version.

Not the worst mobile game I've played. It was fairly easy. Not much to it other than "here's a thing, find the person," follow a string of clues, and done. It took me on average a minute to solve each one. Maybe I'm just that smart, but odds are better that this is just a grindy, time killer. A difficulty modifier would be nice. Maybe more locations, some curveballs, even some customization options would be good. For sure more than just five options on the warrant would better.

Good game albeit not as great as the old CGA DOS version I played way back in the days. The original Broderbund had more cartoon animations, simplified interface no tutorial. I was expecting this one to retain all the pros from the original whilst adding more graphics, geography & history lessons without complicating the gameplay. I'd gladly pay for such extras.

Retro fun, but left me wanting more. The mechanics are much like the old Carmen Sandiego game, and the graphics are deliberately retro. Even the sound effects have fun retro touches. It's fun, but it feels like its not as deep as the original. (Yes, I was a kid at the time, but adults mayb be playing this now, so I think this is fair to say.) This could be developed into something even better!

A challenging detective game. If you're not familiar with landmarks, authors, and painters then you're up for some difficulty at the start. But as you solve around 5 cases, it gets a bit predictable and boring. More countries and more warrant characteristics would be nice for the game to have replayability. More skills as the player levels up would also make progress more interesting.

I wanted to love this game so much. I never got passed the first step in tutorial. The guide told me to select search...when I did it gave me 3 options all said 'place' None of them did anything. The game was stuck that way. I did keep hitting the top 'place' to see if running my time out would make a difference. Nope. I just got the ending scene saying I failed to catch the suspect. Please fix this...PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE! UPDATE: Devs fixed the problem...i reinstalled and actually got to play the game and I loved it...reminds me scoop much of one of my first/favorite pc games. Thank you devs!

It's an awesome recreation of the original Carmen Sandiego games. I was a geography geek in middle school and found the original game challenging. This game is pretty easy and I know I've lost a lot of my geography knowledge since 7th grade, so I hope the developers continue to expand the game to make it more challenging. It would be cool if there eventually was a easy mode and hard mode...the original game had gumshoe level, detective level, etc. That way us adults can be challenged too!

If you can't get basic grammar and your facts about countries correct then why make a game that appears to be educational? It's nonsense. Add to that the fact that you can talk to everyone and get two clues about the suspect, then you have no choice but to guess at the rest (or watch a video, which you seem very keen to push), at which point you submit the warrant then somehow it's the wrong person because the bit of info the ad gave you is incorrect! It wouldn't be so bad if the animations for the detective walking/the footsteps didn't take SO DAMN LONG! Is this meant to be a loading screen? If so...come on. That should never be required in a game that looks and plays like this. Guys...sort it out. It seems like a very simple game to make and there isn't any reason for these issues. I'm appalled that games like this get the editors choice award, when other, much better games don't even get considered. I'm pretty sure that's a con, where the app devs pay Google... Anyway, yeah, avoid this. It's laughable, in the bad way.

Really great homage to the classic Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego. Everything in the game exudes love and care and a definite understanding of what made the original games such important classics. My only complaint is that the current mission I'm on is unwinnable, because none of the clues given match any of the suspects available. I've tried every combination available for the clues given and nothing. Went to every country the suspect went to, visited all 3 locations in each country and checked every single clue against the suspect database and nada. So you guys may want to fix this. Also, I have to tap on everything multiple times to get a response. Kind of annoying.

It's good to see this game coming back but: Graphics are not nearly as good as those used in the later Windows version. The maps are not necessarily accurate, Wellington is in the south of the North Island of NZ not the south island! It would be good to see other versions of the game like there were in the Windows editions.

An interesting, simplistic puzzle game. You play as a detective that gets different cases of finding & arresting a suspect based on 5 characteristics that you obtain as clues from people. The game serves the purpose of educating about different countries & cultures, but becomes quite repetitive & easy once you get hold of it. Promising game, but needs more variety & difficulty!

Pau. G. Nov 11, 2019

Mobile clone of one of my favorite DOS game? Totally free except for a paltry 5 second ad before each mission?? Where do I sign??????? This app is great. Maybe make it so there's like one super criminal that you're building up to catching. Maybe touch up the grammar a bit in q future update, some personal pronouns were also errors. Other than that, I have no complaints whatsoever, this app quickly earned a spot on my main home screen.

The game is fun at first but starts to get boring quickly. The location clues can be a little difficult but the suspect's description clues are very easy. I wish they would expand the writer and painter profiles because the clues get repetitive. I think all this needs are more challenging clues or a way to increase the difficulty levels.

Carmen San diego never gets old. This new version of the classic mystery game keeps the old-fashioned graphics, but adding some other places to visit and clues you can get from witnesses. There are some few mistakes in the witnesses' dialogues (misspelled words and he/she issues). Anyway, if you enjoy testing your culture knowledge, this is a good start point.

Tom. G. Oct 30, 2018

It was too easy and repetitive. After about 7 successful missions in 30 mins I decided to get it wrong on purpose to see what would happen. I often get to the crime seen with only 2 clues so would watch the ads to give me free clues otherwise would have to travel back to get more clues. This game is basic and pretty one dimensional

Kids are enjoying learning the cultural and geographic lessons. I'm getting some nostalgia. Note, in this version of the game, sometimes you will miss clues if you dont search each location. Also plan on having Wikipedia handy for looking up many of the clues since it doesn't come with the book like the game so many years ago.

Jor. H. R. Nov 25, 2019

The way much of the clues and other content is written make it very clear that a native English speaker was not involved in writing or copy editing the content. Games with bad translations are not always a big issue but this game is nearly all text. Also, it is a geography game and uses the city of Las Vegas for its US destination rather than the capital DC like most other countries *and* located the dot for Las Vegas on the East Coast! Also the graphic for Las Vegas appears to be NY.

I installed this game the first time... I enjoyed it a lot then it got to a point where whenever I oppened a new mission and selected Search.. it opened three options saying PLACE... then nothing??? I even reinstalled four times ... the problem came up again.. And the most annoying part.. so many have complained about this but no answer.. how convenient that you are ignoring complaints .. please fix. It takes away the fun of the game..

GB. G. Feb 8, 2019

I got less than a minute in, and had enough. You press play and are treated to a printed message that is so riddled with spelling and grammar errors that it's just sad. Press ok and an ad starts. I think this game set a record for how fast i cam decide it's not worth my time. For an educational game (Used to be at least), it's got a lot to learn.

Sam. O. Jan 22, 2019

a number of times I've had all the warrant information correct, been told it was wrong lost the case. I had them all right and watched a video for every one to check...then it let me get the warrant. the game is fun, but being forced to see adds just to complete a mission makes me not want to play :(

Jos. H. Jan 19, 2019

Pretty good. The programmers' English could be better (seems badly translated, missing prepositions here and there, awkward syntax). Also it could be a little more creative graphically. But all in all, a nice homage to the original game.

Alb. Z. Dec 3, 2019

Kind of boring and easy. After doing four missions, I felt like I had seen everything the game could offer me. Some of the county clues are really vague, like white/red/blue flag, and I've had one instance where two witnesses contradicted each other on a warrant detail... just seems like a weak attempt to get some ad monetization. Thanks for the half hour distraction, I guess?

Excellent game! Fun, engaging, and nostalgic. My initial review was about bugs in the game preventing play beyond the tutorial. The developers fixed the issue and responded in lightening speed. Way to go, team! 🙌

A fun flashback to the old Carmen Sandiego games I grew up with as a kid. No tricks, no sneaky stuff. It isn't big. But for free with no limits or micro-transactions, it is worth it. Also you can submit your own clues in game for others to follow.
