Sara and Death

Sara is a young woman whose time to die has come, so she gets a visit from the lady.Unwilling to accept her death at such an early age, Sara challenges Death to play a game. “The condition is that you let me live for as long as I can play”. Death accepts the challenge, and so the game begins.
Sara And Death is not addictive nor is it brainless fun. I wanted it to be difficult, deceptive, with a deep story. Something you should savour like a fine desert, not devour like a bag of chips. You will have to learn by experimenting and thinking. Sometimes it is for intuitive thinkers, sometimes for those who like plan three moves ahead, sometimes both.

The first part of Sara And Death is free: 3 chapters of the story and 13 puzzles. If you liked part one, there is an In App Purchase to unlock part two and support my work.Enjoy.

Inspiration came from an old movie by Ingmar Bergman – The Seventh Seal – and by Sara herself. Sara does exist, I met her when I was studying philosophy mistaking her for another old friend. By chance; best way to find a new friend indeed. Here she plays as my alter ego and the game is about love. Yet it is not a love story. It is an existential catch on love.In a later stage of development I decided to ask Sara to be the illustrator. She shared my same doubts about love, she did a stunning job and inspired major design changes.

If you're looking for a puzzle game that can actually challenge your brain and make you think, download this immediately.

The game was alright. You play a few quick rounds (5 minutes or so), then they want you to pay to keep playing. [ I understand that you do not want to use ads however, my issue is that you do not mention in the details that there are only a few levels available for free. If you add the word "demo", "trial", etc... then I would have rated the app based on other factors than my surprise that I had to pay for something that appeared to be free.]

Deep story, good writing and engaging gameplay. What more do you need from a mobile game?

I downloaded the game and got one screen in before it told me I had to rate it and share it before I could continue. Hard to know if I like it at this ridiculously early stage.

It took me like three tryouts to get addited to the game. I love the original design of the interface and how it integrates the levels in the story.

Playing this game has given me two things. The first is a philosophical, thought provoking story with and excellent soundtrack. The second component is the puzzle components. These are most impressive, anybody with an idea of tetras and columns will find it familiar. These challenges are much like slide grids. There are many varied challenges that will keep you plenty busy as you solve them. The difficulty rises gradually and becomes more challenging as you continue through the story. Loved the Art style.

Few games have both engaging gameplay or meaningful ideas on mobile. This has both.

Very nice game, it would be good if the piano played while in the puzzle sections rather than just the level selection. The storyline is nice and this could be a good game!

Whoa. Very atmospheric and a good work out for my brain. I love that there is barely a tutorial so my brain actually has to figure out a real puzzle!
