This apps stands true to its name. Most of the other apps aren't up to the mark as this one. Just one thing; when I click an article through notification, app opens and lags. I have to open app and click on article again. Please fix it. Not a big thing as I can manage, but that's a smoother experience. Thanks for making this app
Great app! I do, however, question if the sources used are all trustworthy. I saw "Fox News - Science" on the list of news pages you put on and I find that a bit suspicious considering all the misinformation I heard about Fox News from so many people. Are the people working for the app checking on the news pages they let in, are there any fact checkers? Just curious. Also, your app keeps crashing everytime I'm reading an article; please fix that. Until then, I am uninstalling it.
It is a very good application and I can find a long list of the latest science news on this app which is really useful. The only problem is when I have a notification and I click on it, the news does not open up and I have to find it in the list.
The app would be good if the adds were less intrusive. When viewing an article the top and bottom 30% of the screen is covered in adds making it hard to view the article. At the beginning, end and scattered within the article are more adds. When you transition between pages you are fored to watch a 30sec add play. All of these seems a bit ridiculous when you consider that this app is not producing the content itself.
I believe the process you use to showcase articles needs to be more affluent. Otherwise, I enjoy the content and give this app a thumbs up. Thank you.
This app is great way to keep on emerging science. Some of it is recent content additions are questionable though. For instance slashgear is not in any way linked to science but has articles that promotes tech products. I wish they had a way to block content from certain publishers so I could avoid scrolling through a large additional of tech pan handling articles. But for a free app I havent found better...
The app has been good to use for the most part. There is regularly new articles to read daily, and the fields of science don't seem to concentrate on one field of science either. The ads do get a little in the way but aren't overbearing. Don't know if it is just my device, but I do find that sometimes I'll scroll and the article will scroll in the opposite direction. Other than that, easy to use, thanks.
First time i have used the app. High rate of ad insertion into articles making them difficult and frustrating to read. When scrolling down ads push the remainder of the article text down at the same rate resulting in the ads remaining in the viewing area. One more chance and then I uninstall.
In our uncertain times we are in need of scientific knowledge at least in a basic level. Apps like science news and the similar apps are really treasure to interested people like me. Without science we are nothing. Science is my second religion. Science does humble egotistic idiots.
Really great app, I would've given it 5 stars! Reason for 4 stars is because, whenever I try to save something, it doesn't save because they say that my chrome isn't updated (BTW, what has chrome have to do with it?), and even though I updated it, it still doesn't save. Or maybe I was supposed to do something else. But over all, thank you for making this.
One of a few Apps that allow you to regularly access trusted content that's new, interesting and different. The articles actually come from solid sources and aren't just skewed opinions, advertisements or just plain ignorant. Bonus: Good spelling, grammar and proof reading!
Article headers are very large, which results in a lot of scrolling. Every day the app displays notifications (even when it is closed), there is no way to turn them off, they were clearly implemented to annoy the user.
I used to enjoy this app a lot more (it was a reliable science news app just as it wad advertised!) but in recent months it has started accepting more and more OBVIOUSLY PAID AD PLACEMENT by highly suspect pseudoscience click bait sites such as "Knowridge" and lots of others on the fringes. Now instead of mostly reliable links to "Nature", Sci News, and other legit journals, instead I find I have to carefully evaluate what I am reading there lest I find myself just wasting time on mind mush!
App has started using loud pop up adverts. Too much advertising cluttering the stories already. Range of articles is pretty poor. Mostly just cut-and-paste stories from regular news sources that are vaguely science related (and the highly questionable Sputnik features regularly). If you're looking for a daily "New Scientist"-esque info source then this isn't it.
Good app - get rid of the instrusive ads! If it wasn't for the ad nonsense, you'd be in the running for 5 stars The ads are loud, cannot be immediately cancelled and bear NO relation to science. Just on the basis of the ads, I am so tempted to uninstall.
Lots of really interesting items. Rarely is there a day when nothing grabs you. There are occasional, more political and distracting news items but not enough to distract from the science stuff!
Uninstalling after the loud pop-up video ad that hid it's close button. Scrolling is very erratic suggesting the app is doing far more behind the scenes than presenting articles. Constantly animated ads are distracting. Google News is far better.
Decent app. It crashes from time to time and you cannot scroll up and down on the article in the app (you have to open it in your own browser). But aside from that is does its job.
Good app. Informative but could never give it five stars with so many ads. Update : I've uninstalled, absolutely rediculous number of adverts, I know things need to be payed for and ads. makes it free for the end user but who can find the time to navigate through this many to get to the interesting stuff. ?
I didn't even get partway through the very first article I touched after install. Within seconds it said I had reached my article limit; asking for money to continue. I touched one article for the very first time and it only let me read one paragraph of one article.
Way too many non-science articles including junk about the Kardashians. Science video clips from Twitter and YouTube also do not play in the app on Moto Z3 Play 64GB Verizon phone running stock Android 9. I notice now looking in app description that it's been over a year since its been updated. Uninstalling.
Continual interruptions by ads make this application worthless! Otherwise this would be an excellent application. It's a great source of stories that you can bookmark and find Elsewhere on the internet without all the interruptions!
Excellent, yet I semideliberately don't depth-read nor depth-play beyond the articles to attain niscience (in and of that form) as I am focusing on other activity and might only want to view the world that way in several years
Uninstalled due to the scrolling bug others have mentioned. The bug is extremely annoying to the point of infuriating for someone with a very busy lifestyle. Won't reinstall unless the issue is fixed, nice app otherwise.
The only thing that could be better is filtering what notifications I get. I don't care too much about most of my notifications and I really don't care about Covid19 at all which is a lot of them. Space related is all I need but it's great no matter what.
it's amazing and that all. ads does not bother that much. thank you for this app. it helps to get quite fast scientific news for some one who is most of the time busy at work.
Very good app, the UI isn't bad but could be better.
Perfect app for me. Every article I've read so far was of high quality and free. The advertisement is not too annoying and I like that you can save your favorite articles.
Try to read articles but ads just get in the way covering the text. I appreciate the app has to show ads to remain free but this is just not acceptable. Smaller less intrusive ones should be used. Uninstalling.
I like the interface and ads are pretty discreet. Would rate 5 if there was a way to filter news, or at least sort by categories: I understand that you included new technologies in the feed, but there's loads of articles about video games, social medias, phones, cars and such who don't really qualify as science imo.
