Scotch Game

Another chess opening easy to understand for beginners is the Scotch Game or Scotch Opening (C44 and C45).

The Scotch Game is an old opening in which the white pieces try to take over the center from the first moves. The Scotch Game is raised after 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.d4.

Like all openings open a fast and dynamic game with great tactical possibilities, for this reason it is highly recommended to include it in the repertoire of chess openings of beginners or amateurs who do not have a very high ELO. However, it is also an opening widely used in elite tournaments by Chess Grandmasters.

If you play with white pieces is a variant to consider. If you play the Spanish Opening or Italian Opening with black pieces in any of its variants, then you need to be well prepared against the Scotch Game or Scotch Opening.

In this app we select chess games in PGN format with the Scotch Game, both classical lines (C45) such as the Mieses Variation, Schmidt Variation or Potter Variation as gambits (C44) as the Scotch Gambit, Göring Gambit or the Lolli Variation.
