Very slow to start up each time I get back in the car. Sometimes takes up to 2 minutes to reconnect the phone app with the head unit. I place it a distant third behind Android Auto and Apple Car plays navigation maps. Otherwise the map layout is great, just too slow to reconnect.
overall great. kind of takes you the long scenic routes... It doesn’t work with my car anymore... 😞
WARNING: this has a 3-year free trial. After that you have to pay $15 per year. I was not told that. Also, needs other voice options as I have trouble hearing the one provided while listening to music in the car because of her low voice tone. Also, not dependable in rural areas where phone signal can be interrupted....which disconnects everything. Also, sometimes the app cannot map an address. I put in an address in my state for a destination about 90 minutes away that has existed for many years and it wanted to send me two states over on a 6-hour drive. It would not re-route even after I pulled over and rebooted my phone.
This & the Toyota app are terrible for navigation. I have had to reload both apps numerous times.. It takes 3-10 minutes to bring up the apps, enter an address and get the routing.. Most of the time they won't even load on my car's screen. When they finally do, they work ok. You think Toyota would have a better solution than this. Now I am seeing a screen that says I have to subscribe to continue use!
Stay away, worst app ever. Kind of hard to rate it when it works 1% of the time, if you're lucky
Worst app ever! I thought maybe I was saving some money by not getting the nav package on my Camry but nope! This thing only seems to work when it wants and drops out of communication all the time even when I'm using it! Now it says all of a sudden that it was only a 3yr subscription!! I was never told that when I bought the car and no one had ever told me that until the warning popped up! Once again Toyota lies to me about what they offer on their cars and I'm really just done with them!! 🤬🤬
App will not run as it says that other apps are using Bluetooth when the only other apps running are the Toyota app required to run this and Spotify for music (both of which shouldn't be an issue). The navigation is terrible, often taking convoluted routes, and is not up to date with road closures/new traffic patterns. Google Maps is a much better system, and this navigation app should work with Google to make navigation more accurate and efficient.
Horrible!! This app was uploaded on My vehicle when purchased. Attempted to use and could not use it unless I had the app downloaded to my phone. Well I entered in my destination and my 0hone display will automatically close after 1 min of no interaction, unfortunately so does the map!! Message comes across phone not detected. So had to pull over change settings on my phone reenter destination before I could carry on. Very disappointing needs major improvement where phone is not needed!
By far THEE WORSE APP I've ever downloaded EVER! I've had my SUV for about 6 months (if that) and this has only connected 4 times, so then I have to waste time to pull over and pull up Google maps, beside that it always says "Waiting to connect." I've never hated anything so much until now (and the Toyota app) for the love of God and safety please take a lot of notes from Google Maps (or connect to them) because it's a inaccurate, very slow, and overall just a waste of memory on my phone!
Beware this app allows you to purchase a yearly membership more than once repeatedly charges your card and doesn't give you access to the membership.
I'm loving it ...it doesn't always connect immediately...I have to reconnect each time
Took me a bit to get this working right on my Prius but it was me, not the app. Love it now.
Honestly this app is just not good. I use it in my car and it is the only app I have that actually will not work because I have too many apps that use bluetooth and will not connect to my car because of which. No other app does this. And even when I try to close an app using bluetooth it still wont work with my car. It is also not accurate all the time. Basically you're better off using any other GPS app than this.
This app was accidentally deleted in my Avalon. Would you Toyota please put it back in my car list of apps. Since it is not in the list in my Avalon anymore, I can not match it up w/my phone. The app is in my phone just fine. But the Scout GPS was deleted in my car list of apps to connect with. This has been going on for several months and I have done everything that I can think of. Please advise what to do or, if you can fix it remotely, that would be great. Toyota you have all the info on my car.
If this was the first GPS created, it would be pretty good. But it lacks features that were common over 10 years ago. It doesn't show the exit numbers so exits have similar names on the roads you're going to or are unnamed, then you're in for a rough time. It's also a pain to change destinations. If you get almost to your destination but decide you want to stop for food, more likely than not the car won't be able to plot a course while you're cruising, but it also won't save the previous directions so if you didn't memorize your exit and distance, you'll have to pull over somewhere and start over. Overall the app is disappointing. It's unreliable, and missing a lot of convenience features. But it's integrated with the car, which is convenient.
So bad i regret buying a Toyota. I rarely buy a new cars, so when I do I try to get all of the bells and whistles. thinking that I got a navigation system that would use my phone so that it would be flexible and stay up-to-date with maps. what a disappointment. you only get turn-by-turn directions oh, so there are no maps, no alerts about upcoming intersection names like on the Mazda, extremely slow searching and typing for a point of interest, a really poor multimedia experience.
Typing in addresses takes FOREVER!! I have to go out 20 minutes early or the day before to put in address so that I can leave on time. It is the slowest gps system I've seen. When one can go several routes and one is TOLL, screen doesn't tell you which one is the toll. One can't look at complete route by scrolling down -- only the 1st few steps. When typing in address sometimes it will start searching when you have only typed in one or two numbers. I usually end up putting in google maps & completing search. As if there is an issue on the road, one can't change anything as system thinks that only the driver is in the car. Many times there are others in car that could edit screen if needed. It doesn't, and other systems are the same, show the most direct route to somewhere -- using back streets. One knows when one lives in the area. Many times it's the route that takes the most time. If I had a choice, I would never again purchase a car with this system.
I love the fact that it gives me turn by turning directions further enough in advance do that I can navigate from one lane to another to make an upcoming turn; also, I can see it on screen. The one problem I'm having is that I'm unable to set route options (i.e. avoid toll roads, avoid highways), like on Google Maps. If this option is available, will someone please post the instructions. Thanks
This app gives reasonable directions when it works, but sometimes loses the GPS signal very easily, much more easily than a phone. When this happens the app randomly forgets where it is and thinks you are driving on a road next to the road you are on, or driving in a field next to a road, and takes a long time to find itself, if it ever does. It also needs to have a voice input system so you can give it a new destination without having to stop and type it in.
It's getting there. Okay so coming from someone who loves android auto, this app is trying to emulate that. They are not at the quality of android auto but they are not as bad as the reviews make them out to be. Yes, it does not give you multiple route options and does not provide you with the shortest route. But the app isn' that bad. I hope for future updates to integrate better, more accurate navigation, as well as better graphics. FYI the customer service if you have any problems is amazing.
Horrible App. 9 times out of 10 when you try to open it from your car, you get a communications error. After closing and opening Entune and Scout repeatedly, you may eventually get it to open. Once it's open on your car's display, in order to get the map to appear, you have to disconnect and reconnect your USB cable numerous times and, if you're lucky, the maps will eventually appear. I usually give up and run Google Maps on my phone which works much better.
Directions, guidance not as good or as detailed as Google maps, the phone connection is convoluted with many steps. It requires both Bluetooth and USB connections, other Bluetooth devices have to be disconnected, and after the nearly one dozen steps there is no guarantee that the connection will be completed. It is unable to find many destinations that Google Maps finds with ease. I have given up using it.
It's a decent GPS. It doesn't show some road closures and it thinks I make wrong turns even thought I'm going straight. But it does correct itself when I keep going straight when that happens or when I avoid road closures. Another is that it doesn't give you the fastest route, even though it gives you multiple routes to choose from. If I needed to get somewhere reliably and quick, I would use Google maps.
Its interesting. The app on my phone works completely different than the one in my car. I can actually hear it, it stops the radio. etc. However of course I don't have the benefit of seeing the directions ahead of time. Give me a compelling reason why the phone and car systems don't work the same. Also why my car is set for 3D maps overview and they rarely show. The phone app is far superior to the car app. The car app leaves much to be desired. They should work the same.
This app has been much improved since last year. Much less glitchy. Still needs some work on improving the user experience, voice recognition, and map quality. Edit: it had been working great for a while, but for the last few months there's been a "communication error". Zero stars if I could. Toyota should provide upgrades to apple/Android system because this does not work.
What is wrong with this app!? I'll tell you, first you have to have your phone connected through USB to even allow the map to show. Not only that, you have to plug the USB in before the app launches. You cannot have your phone pre-plugged. Second, you'll be blasted with the app automatically launching under no control once you step into your car. Every time I dismissed the app from my screen it auto pops another launch. Like a Pop-up on your computer screen. Tempted to uninstall at the moment.
Constantly disconnects while I'm driving, making it unsafe to use. I have to pull over to reconnect, and it takes forever to reconnect. I got an alert this morning that the trial period ends in 34 days, and it is $15 annual. I wasn't told this was a trial period. Why pay for this app, when Google Maps is free and a far more superior product. Yet another reason to not choose Toyota for my next vehicle...
