Very basic & info does not appear to be updated. Although certain roads are open with no delays, the app seems to think the road does not go through the whole way, so has me making turns to avoid one small section of the road, & get back onto it about 1/2 mile further down! When I could just go straight thru. Also, doesn't give me much of a heads up on delays coming up.
I like it, and I definitely used to like it, but it's got one major functional problem: it uses a light color scheme that can't be changed. In a world where AMOLED displays are commonplace, this is completely irresponsible design. (AMOLED displays wear out faster and have a higher chance of image burning the more often you have white on the screen)
The app stops at random times, especially on highway trips causing a safety hazard. If it worked reliably it would be only three stars. I have a Magellan navigation unit on my dashboard. I would be reluctant to aquire any car using the Scout system in the future. The problem occured with 2 different phones, I have downloaded all factory updates and the problem continues.
Really nice navigation app. It has rarely let me down. My only suggestion would be to try to get more speed limits incorporated. It's easy to use. I'm not sure if there even are any ads, so if there are they must be really unobtrusive. It generally pops up the correct address before I've even finished typing it.
I've used Scout about 6 yrs. It was always highly accurate, but lately has been routing badly. I was on the beltway and it kept changing the starting point from a nearby area, which alters the entire route, then 20 seconds later changed back to my current point. It's done that a lot lately. I constantly test it, but same. I'm disappointed because the past 6 yrs it's all I wanted to use, Currently it hasn't been reliable, I hope it gets good again. It's not that bad an app. It said something about ads, which I've yet to see, honeatly. I'm happy the navigation is constantly repeating, because I always ending missing my turns, with navigation continously repeating I don't miss my turns. Easy to use, warns you about traffic, can add favorite places. I'm enjoying it!
I cannot hear the directions on Bluetooth audio. It does not break through existing audio, such as radio, it talks under it and even with volume at full max it is close to undetectable. You can tell somebody is speaking, but you cannot tell what they are saying. Don't waste your money.
The best thing about this app is that it gives you three route options. The worst thing is that it does not tell you which side your destination is on like Google maps. I also dont understand why it doesn't save your history without adding it to saved places. Otherwise, its a good gps app to use
I have used this app for years, have always loved it. I have many saved routes. Over the past 2 months or so it has really been erratic, i have to exit the app and start over several times. Please fix. I will review again when i notice a change.
Great GPS! I love using this on my phone when I drive. It is clear about directions and easy to use. It saves places I have been so I can look them up by starting to type any part of the address I remember. I recommend this to use for directions. Also my andriod phone is a little cheaper than most and it works great on it. I even got it working in a rainstorm when the actual GPS wouldn't load.
When I first started using scout, it was hard to manipulate the maps and setting up favorites. However, as I progressed the mapping and the sitting up routes and everything that is required for travel Scout has become very easy to use. This is still a very good app for traveling.
This is one of the better navigation apps available. This biggest reason I don't use it more is because it is not available on Android Auto. This is something I really wish could be available. If it were available through AA I would use it daily. Also Scout needs a driving mode were you're fitted to the map although you don't have guidance active. Please Please Please work on being supported by Android Auto!
I have never had a gps that course corrected my travel 10 times while at a stop light before. This app cannot make up its mind as to whether you are on the road it wants you on, or if you need to turn on to it (into a cement wall) in 500ft. The app is free and I still feel cheated out of my money. I couldnt trust this app to take me in a straight line or navigate me down a single road.
Used to love this app. But in the last week it is lost. It is continually changing the route midstream and telling me totally wrong directions. Not reliable any longer. Going to have to stop using. So frustrating!!
Best navigation system ever! I'm a taxi driver, and it takes me to the exact correct house or place of business every time. There's no guessing at which place it is like Google Maps. It's precise every time. I highly recommend it.
By far the best navigation app anywhere! I have never had a misdirection or a wrong route or ended up in a field or a lake ever. I use this when I go on all my business trips, forget the navigation system in the cars, this outshines them all!
I don't care for this new version. I had Scout years ago and absolutely loved it. Developers changed the format and I think it's harder to navigate now. Can't find how to delete old addresses. There was nothing wrong with the old version.
The problem with this app is, it ALWAYS wanna take you thorough the toll ways. Even some times it will take you the long way just to stick you into the paying lane. :( , additionally this app is weak as opposed to Ways or google maps, Almost as if this one was using a different satellite.... that's all otherwise pretty cool app.
Phone number and contacts required before even getting a chance to try the app and explore what it can do. Sorry, but for a navigation app these requests should only come after creating an account. Basic navigation should be allowed anonymously and give users a chance to experience the interface and navigation experience and the account only used to enhance the basic function of navigation as an option not requirement.
I like it for the most part but it needs some major updating. whem taking expressways it reroutes me all over even though the expressways have been changed long ago to avoid that. it's aggravating and i have been waiting it out. it might be time to try a new app if they cant figure it out soon
Update to my 2019 Toyota Camry navigation(Telenav?) to scout GPS link has v. 1.0.100.6438 fixed problem. I could connect USB port to my LG V40 Android 8.1 only once in the morning. Later attempts would not connect - USB pitchfork stayed dark. There was no way to reset USB port on the Toyota port side. After this update. USB connects fine. Dealer service used an iPhone to show the Car side worked. They said the problem was my smartphone.
Yeah another navigation app that pretends buildings don't exist. It also doesn't let you pick any place in the map to navigate to. If you long press a particular spot on the map, it will select some random place hundreds of meters away.
Looking for a viable alternative to the awful Google Maps and Scout is SO close. The good: the simplicity of the layout is visually pleasing and not distracting while driving; the route was accurate and got me exactly where I needed to be, on time. The bad (but easily fixable): the map needs more contrast between the streets and blocks, it can be hard to distinguish where the upcoming turns are; "add a stop" is missing; "search along route" feature is missing; search doesn't find some landmarks.
