A very useful app. I'm working on a variety of projects (tv, film, corporate video) and some times you can't find someone to read with you. This app has helped me memorize lines for a variety of projects and deliver them with graceful ease. I'm never the weakest link when it comes to performing on set. I highly recommend this app. My only complaint is sometimes after an import the words will be mispronounced even though the word is spelled properly so I have to go in and retype the word.

So far, I am loving this app. The best part: I did not have to record the lines myself. I uploaded the script, corrected the character attributions, picked character voices, and I could start learning and running lines right away. Of course I can record my lines if I want, but I appreciated the time savings right out of the gate~~especially since we were getting rewrites and revisions all through the rehearsal process. I didn't have to go back to rerecord my lines or those of others.

I gave five stars for the level of customer service as well as effectiveness of Script Rehearser. When I changed phones, I was having difficulty accessing and uploading--customer service got right back to me, looked into it and I believe made changes so that the app works on my phone version. The features aren't high def or anything like a video game, But I am memorizing script not playing a game. Even my castmates have inquired and remarked how I know my lines! (Affordable upgrade!)

The recent updates arent as user-friendly as previous versions. And I've uploaded multiple different scripts and it's not separating the playwright's instructions. And half of the useful features are subject for pay. Not a big fan of that. I used to recommend this app to many actor friends. Now I have nothing to recommend them to.

A life saver! I wasn't completely sure how to use it before but I emailed support and someone got back to me right away. I'm using the trial of the pro version right now but I'll definitely pay for it once that's in. It's absolutely worth the subscription price.

Makes learning my lines so much easier and the new pro features are great. The voice catalog make differentiating between characters so much easier. Love this app!

Thanks for your help. I had a problem with the original script and uploading it, but found a different copy which I was able to adapt to a pub. It has uploaded perfectly thanks.

I used to love this app... this app was great until you took away the female voices and made it payable. If it was a new feature i could understand but its not. This had the potential to be the best app for actors and now the worst. Put back that feature and i will change my review until then im deleting the app. Its useless to me now.

They just switched to a pay model and now the features I use are all pay and I totally misunderstood the pricing model. Some notice would have been nice and an option for existing users to get a discount. I love this app cause it's straight forward and simple to use and I can voice record lines. So I'm paying for "12 months" (aka yearly not per month for 12 months which is an option for other subscriptions)... the other option is "One-time" (aka forever).

This app was absolutely fantastic before they revamped it. I wouldn't mind paying up to $10 for the original version if they really cant offer it for free anymore. But the new version is just no longer user friendly. Seems really tedious to record lines now. Used to be beautifully simple and easy to use. No way am i paying a yearly fee to use this new garbage. It was great while it lasted🙁

EDIT: Received help from the developer right away! I guess my phone wasn't recognizing my swipes. Fixed it, and it's working great again! This used to be a great app, really helped me out. But I wish I could download the earlier version, because the new update doesn't work for me at all. I've tried every button and every gesture, and I can't edit my lines like I used to to correct the way it imported from the pdf, or even rename the script. Real shame, since it worked just fine before.

I've just downloaded the app. Even from my brief exploration, I'm optimistic and excited. I discovered years ago that I memorize most efficiently via hearing the scene rather than reading it over and over, but I don't particularly care for running lines with another person. I just like being more in control and not being a burden on anyone. Different digital recorders aren't necessarily designed to function well for this task. Not to mention the cost and fragility. This app seems perfect!

I recently started using this app to learn and rehearse my theater texts on my mobile phone. The auto-generated voices are so much better, easier and faster than having to record all the lines yourself! On the downside, it is currently not possible to change the language of the voices inside the app: all voices are generated in the general language of your device. If the OS is set to English but you need to rehearse French texts (as I do), you will hear funny pronunciations unless you are willing to change the overall phone settings. => My suggestion to the developers: Please make the language "switchable" inside the app.

For free this is a pretty decent app. Im actually surprised they dont charge at least a few dollars. I do wish it had better voice options that read the lines. To robotic. It does have an option to record your own voice for lines and if your good at doing different voices than its not that big of an issue. Other than that it does everything i need. The apps is pretty easy to figure out after messing with it for a few minutes. Of all the apps ive tried this is one of the best.

I've been using this app for 2 years and it definitely helped in terms of convenience. You can import scripts via PDF and with minor adjustments (as it's not always 1-1), the transition works fine. Something I'd like to see in the future is support on the cloud; that way I can access my script on a desktop browser so that editing it will make it simpler than doing it on the phone.

I can't comment on rehearsing scripts (I haven't used it for that), but version 4.1.87 is not very useful for rehearsing speeches, despite what the blurb says. There is also no in-built Help, nor a PDF (or similar) User's Guide, so not always clear how to best to use it. And lastly, it can't even load scripts from an external SD card! :-( On the other hand, the author is very responsive and helpful, so there is hope for the future!

This app is fantastic, yes it can take a bit of effort to get your script read correctly and then sort out speeds of voice play back etc but the learning curve is easy and even easier with the now in built tutorial. Amazing app for learning lines for shows. Play back in the car, on the move and at home. Be line perfect in a lot less time then usual. Keep up the great work.

This app is pretty good with most of the solo rehearsal features an actor might need. It's a little tricky to get the timing of the reader right. The one thing this app really needs is voice recognition so the reader voice will wait until you've finished delivery of your lines before proceeding. Update following Developer Response: Yes, I have used that pause button but I find it tends to take me out of character as I have to look at the phone and press the continue button (sometimes I miss it and accidentally push the prompt button). Definitely, hope you will look into voice recognition. Perhaps you can borrow the engine from PromptSmart.

A wonderful app, totally free, without even ads. I'd happily pay for it, it's the best on Android (most actor apps are iPhone only). Doesn't take long to get used to, and the author(s) are keen for feedback and are doing it for the love of helping actors. Another reviewer complained of app permissions - the permissions are needed. eg, you would want the app to go silent when a phone call arrives, that needs control over the phone, and so on. Same with file system, for loading scripts.

Really good free app. You need to make sure your PDF/Word doc is well formatted, but it's easy to correct if you spot errors. You can set each character's gender, pitch and speed, and record your character. Good for learning whilst driving if you set it to read on after pausing as you don't need to touch phone. I was easily first of the main characters in my play to learn my lines, which for a bloke in his late 50s working with a group of much younger people was a bit surprising!

The app is great, works like a charm. If you have the pdf file of the script the app does everything alone, like separate scenes from dialogs by characters. Perfectly. Just one request, I'm not an actor i work in costumes, so i recieve very early copies of the scritpt with a lot of *'s (asterisks) on them, and the app reads "asterisk" everytime and is kinda annoying. Is possible include an option to ignore characters like "*" or " - ".

Best app for learning lines on Android devices! I've been using Script Rehearser since it was Speech Rehearser. With it I was able to memorize a full page of complex medical terminology in one morning before a shoot where I wasn't sure a teleprompter would be used. Different levels of prompting help me build confidence as I'm learning. I can learn lines while driving, cooking, and getting ready for my day. Importing and editing scripts is super-easy, too, and there's tons of support. 5 🌟!

I tried about five different apps for this and this one did the job perfectly. I don't ever have anyone to run lines with so I just upload my script and with a few tweaks I can be running lines and no time. Also, tech support was awesome when I was having issues with getting a particular script uploaded. you can either record in by voice or have the app do text to voice by reading your script. none of the other apps that I downloaded were able able to do all the things this one did.
