It takes a lot for me to be inspired into reviewing an app..I have to have gotten really annoyed in order to bother. This app is amazing and works great.. unless you want to actually READ an article. If you do, grab a comfy chair and throw on a movie cause you are gonna be waiting for that article to load until you're ready to throw your phone into the garbage disposal and go back to rotary.
I love this widget. I'm not a "widget" guy. I have a clock widget, and now this widget. It has a search function for feed discovery as well as the option to add your own custom feeds. It doesn't muck-about with trying to bait and switch you into paying or donating or goad you into a review. It just does what you want it to do, and that's something I appreciate in this day and age. Five stars. Highly recommend this to anyone.
I've been a long time user of this app. It has had its up and downs and appeared to have fallen off the Play Store completely for a while. Recent iterations have been great, with fixes to performance, customization, and feed compatibility much appreciated. Recent update to Nova Launcher appears to have broken the widget, however I am hopeful that one or the other of the apps will release an update to fix this.
Used to be a five-star app until it decided that RSS and other news feeds are no longer viable or compatible. It's no longer able to look up news feeds, either. Basically, the entire feed modification function is broken. The app's only good now if you don't mind Reuters news, which is programmed into it by default and the only one that'll work.
This app used to be amazing on my opo but on my s6 edge it has some performance issues, very sluggish and slow it is. Other than that I know this is a great one, I'll change my rating after the fix. (I have done every possible thing to remedy this problem but no luck) Thanks
I'm updating this with sadness as it's stopped working since my Note 8 updated to Oreo. My home screen has been missing the widget for a few days now, it's going to be tough to find an app as good as this to take its place. It still deserves 5 stars for all the years great use I got from the app. Totally love this app, it's easy to use and does exactly what I want. Is there a way to support the developer? as I have been using this for a long time and it's only fair to give something back. I use this more than anything else on my phone.
The screenshots don't do this app much justice! Once configured properly it's simply unbeatable. Almost every aspect is tweakable and you can set it up to your taste with little effort. I've been using it over a year now and it keeps me updated with latest news of interest daily from my home screen which is super convenient because I never need to remember to open an app to get a dose of the news. Just wish the developer would come back to the project and fix a few minor gripes.
Okay, so I came across this app when I downloaded al-Jazeera news app from playstore. Issue was that the app did not have a widget that came with it and I'm big on being able to view news articles without going to my menu and clicking for it. So, I searched and toiled until I came across this widget. Just fantastic, so it basically lets you from what I've figured out so far input a website or rss feed url of the news source of your liking and sort of generate an output through the widget of that website or rss url so it becomes the widget for the app. It also let you customize themes for how you want the widget to look.
Great amount of customizable features - just what I was looking for in a widget. But now the widget will sporadically stop launching a browser so that I can't actually read the stories. I am forced to keep replacing the widget on my home screen several times a week.
This app does exactly what you want with a highly customizable interface to match whatever you'd like it to. There's one problem, and I hope it can be answered by dev even though he's not working on it anymore: every time the screen rotates in the reader, the article completely reloads. This can be a problem if you have gone out of reception and cannot reload the page! Otherwise, big thank you for this amazing app.
I like the portal of news articles, but I pick an article it would open it but then hangs. A message pops up asking if I want to wait or exit.
This is a great widget and one that I've been using for over 4 years. It's infinitely customisable, lightweight and reliable. Unfortunately, the developer stopped supporting it years ago so download the slightly updated version off the XDA Developers website instead.
Just what I was looking for: small lightweight rss widget app (don't need a full blown reader with all the bells and whistles), default setting looks gorgeous out of the box, some customisation options available (where it matters), and it's stable - hasn't crashed on me so far, unlike other apps that I've tried. Set up screen could be made more intuitive for the first time user. But once you're past that, it works beautifully!
I click on a news item and nothing happens. A few hours later it works again then it stops. Erratic behavior. Uninstalling. Too bad, loved the variety of sources.
This app is trying to manipulate news sources. It only allows you to search the news feeds it thinks you should choose. If you go outside what it wants you to display in "can't find" the news source you select.
Out there. This is for ppl who want news (can choose your own sources) not for ppl who like candy graphics
Some news sites have videos that auto-play. This is annoying enough, but when viewing a news article, this app starts that video (or audio) and no amount of closing the app or killing all open apps makes the audio stop. Rather annoying.
This does what it suggests... I found it a little temperamental to set up in places, but good overall
For whatever reason, my widget won't load any stories. It simply says "nothing to read" I would really appreciate some troubleshooting on this. I've done some research and can't find much in it.
Everything about this app is really good. The only thing I have a problem with, is when I'm customizing the colors of the widget. All is good until I try and change the background color of the actual widget. It's default is white, which doesn't go well with my layout and doesn't seem to want to change, even when it's set to something else. Oddly enough, the color will appear when I tap and hold to move the widget. It then resets back to white when I let go. Using Nexus 6P
I tried it after learning about Reader going away. Widget works great but it locks up every time it tries to open a news story. No matter which feed I use from 5 different sites. Using Nexus 7 stock 4.2.2
After taptu went down I was looking for a decent replacement especially with a versatile widget. Scrollable News is by far the best app for that. The widgets of feedly or gReader Pro can't compete at all.
I wish if I could hide the column scrolling, an option to hide it ,I will just scroll by gestures
I have subscribed to 5 different (although major) newspapers, and the app has eaten its way through 500MB of storage space! What's even more annoying is that there doesn't seem to be a way to delete this data without deleting all settings (including your subscription). I know this app is no longer supported, but if there's anyone out there with the know how and is able to relaunch this with the bugs addressed - you're onto a winner!
This app is just awesome! Built for the kill. But please tell me how to display thumbnails for every feed. I'm not finding it anywhere. Tried to tweak some settings and badly screwed up the app because of which I had to reinstall the app.
Ignore reviews before May of 2018; that's before everything went downhill for the app. After that point, the app just stopped loading RSS feeds for users, which is kind of a big deal when that is the one task it had. Shame, but this app is BROKEN.
Great app for scouring news for me. Can add RSS feeds and all kind of other sources. Setup took about 10mins, and I've tweaked it a few times as well. One concern, in the last 30 days, my configuration has eaten ~15GB of data, luckily it's been set to use WiFi exclusively.
