SD Scanner
In Android 4.4 KitKat, the method used by most older programs to rescan a storage medium no longer works. Instead, an interface must be used that only allows one file to be specified at a time. This app works by determining what files/folders might need to be scanned again, and then by calling the correct API on each file/folder.

If anyone wants to write a proper Tasker plugin, I'll happily take a Pull Request on Github.

Great app, does exactly what it intends to do. The only thing I would appreciate is a folder picker to avoid having to type the card path manually, but this is just a minor inconvenience. If you add this to a "pro" version I would happily pay for it :D

It does what it's made to do & what a huge help it has been to me! No annoying ads either. Love the app as is, but for the sake of future consideration, it would be nice 2 be able 2 add an extra custom file path, although it's rly not much trouble changing the path when i need 2. Big thanks to the developer!
I am used to import music from my computer to my phone using ADB push. But Android won't detect a file change and my Music player not able to find the music. The solution was to reboot the phone, but that was extremely annoying. Luckly this app exists. Great job!

I've messed up my gallery by creating a .nomedia file in my sdcard root directory and most of my media no longer shown ever since then. I deleted the .nomedia and the gallery still messed up. Then I used this and rescan my sdcard. Now my gallery is back to normal!

Does not honor the path. I type in an explicit path to scan and I can see it scanning directories apart from that (even on the external SD card!). Running a Note 4...
Works like a charm, Every downloaded images back then never shows up in my sd card, don't know why even when moving files I need to rescan the sd card. Great apps! It helps me a lot thank you.
SD card wasn't loading in my media section. Was readable in file manager though. Wipe my partition cache and still didn't work. Was gonna factory reset, tried this "last sd app" and it worked flawlessly and now my pictures and music appear again. Thanks. Awesome app that works!!
It made my new file folders appear to Windows to be of type file, not file folders, even after restarting android- worse than nothing

Can't even open my folders anymore. This app turned them all into "Files" once i hooked up my phone to go through my SD card.
Scans the internal device and SD cards for new media files and updates the media server. Works great. Custom path seems to be ignored (always scans everything). No ads, no extra costs. Great!
Tried loads of these, this is the first which appears to work! Would be handy to be able to browse for a folder to scan rather than having to remember the path.
Worked like magic. Initially had problem after I'd migrated to lollipop.
It does the work but it duplicated some folders at the time I erease one folder .. All pictures gone so it works just carefull at the time you want to eliminate duplicates
I use DropSync to move my images to Dropbox. This leaves icons in the galleries of all my apps for photos which have been moved online. This quickly and painlessly cleans them up. Thank you!
The stock gallery app still hasn't recognised the unassociated images scanned
I have playlists on Sdcard. After a rescan, music files appear on player on music section but playlists didnt show up until I reboot my phone.
My mobile becomes laggy when i notice that my sd card have a problem when i installed this my sd card fix now my mobile is now very fast thanks to the developer .
A vital add-on for using reading / backing up files by plain MTP USB. Worked perfectly in working around that Android bug that made new files inaccessible over USB. (It is ridiculous that such a significant bug in Android 4 still had not been fixed in Android 6!)
Worked exactly as advertised. Fixed my missing files in mtp usb transfers.
It works for me, but when i do the scanning it double up certain images and i dont know why. But im really satisfied w this app, thanks!
Simple, small and sweet. I added some images to my phone and Gallery would not see them although they were in directory with other images. I could open them from file manager but not from Gallery. I ran SD Scanner and my problem was quickly solved. Mind that you possible wil have to scan sdcard0 and sdcard1 by changing the digit manually.
