Advantages of encrypting notes:• Keep private information such as credit cards, bank account, passwords and ideas in a single place• Notes are encrypted locally so no one else can access, read or modify them, unless they have password.• Since encryption is done at storage level, accessing notes directly from disk is not possible. If you ever lose phone, you won't lose your notes to thieves.
FAQ -
Q: Why not use XYZ app with application lock?A: Application locks prevents user from opening application, but does not secure the storage. Hence adversary can simply access the storage file directly and read the content. Using encryption is proper secure way to keep sensitive information safe.
Q: If someone connects phone to computer and copies/read the data file storing all the notes, can't they read everything?A: They can't. No one can, regardless how they access the data file (unless they have your secret password). The application uses a technique called encryption. Encryption uses your password to convert notes to unreadable form which makes no sense to anyone even computer. This can be converted back to readable text only using exact same password.
Q: I forgot my password. How do I recover my notes?A: You can't. Your password is not stored anywhere but in your brain. If you lose your password, you will lose all your notes. Storing password locally or on server is a security hole which should be avoided.
Q: I can't take screenshots from app or I see blank screenshot in application switcher. What's wrong?A: You probably have enabled "Secure Window" feature in SealNote settings. Disable it to be able to take screenshots or show window content in application switcher.

This app has potential but it lacks the ability to organize notes alphabetically. Nor does it have a search function to find login details quickly. Now that I have 40+ login credential entries it becomes very difficult finding my notes quickly. Also the app crashes every time I attempt to do a backup which pretty much makes it useless for me. If my phone gets damaged or stolen I will loose all my data. It would be nice if the developers continued making updates to the app. I'd be glad to pay for a better working version.
This is nice and easy to use app. I have not security tested it. 3 star review is because the backup function does not work. I've put in a lot of private data, that I had finally decided to back up. App force closes. Fix that, u get 5 stars. If the device is lost or broke, and u can't restore your data, then it's best to move on to a different app that has a robust but secure backup options, and restore.
Excellent utility. One drawback is that sometimes you can see the note when you shouldn't. However, won't happen if you close SealNote before locking the screen. E.g. you leave SealNote open, the screen locks, you have it set to require password on switch of utilities. You see the note unlocked for a few seconds as the screen unlocks, then it asks for password.
I've had this app for years and it's been brilliant. When I changed phones about 3 years ago, the backup worked. I've changed phones again recently and find there is now a problem with backup, which is really annoying as I have lots of notes and I will now have to look for something else. Otherwise as others have said I would leave a 5 star review.
Can you save notes? Yes. Is it as secure as they say? Maybe, I lack the skill to know. What is annoying about the app is the inability to backup the data without copy and paste into something obviously less secure. It has a backup but it crashes the app.
Excellent, simple, and does exactly what it says on the tin- the encryption is 256bit AES, and is extra secure as you cant open the file in any way other than via the app on the phone, and it csnt be accessed by an external PC - so. dont lose the password!!!
The app is great. The only missing feature I'd like is the ability to SEARCH for text within a note. If I have a note with 100 passwords stored, it would be nice to be able to search for Hilton, or USAir, or Pizza Hut... etc. to jump to the one I want.
It used to be a great app but recently I tried to backup my password and it just crashes. Therefore not much use without ability to backup! Still usable but run the risk of losing all your password if phone crashes, gets loss or stolen, or if you upgrade.
All the features of this app is good. But they should include option to export the data from one phone to another incase, the user is switching to another device. That's y 4 stars.
App is good. Using this since many years, First tine tried for Back and Restore. but its not working. My new phone have file but your app in that new phone, Unable to find that backup file. Something wrong with extension name or something.
Was a great app for taking secure notes and writing down passwords but now every time I want to backup my notes it "stops". This app hasn't been updated since 2017 so it's probably having issues with later releases of Android.
Barely functions because the backup is broken in my Android ver., Samsung galaxy s10+. There is no export function. So any notes are not backed up nor saved anywhere else but the easily corruptible original directory.
Simple and easy to use - all that you need a EXCEPT it doesn't have options to transfer notes to other phone when you need it. If you could improve it, it would be a really GREAT APP!
The backup feature won't work on Samsung S8 when I try to do a backup on Google drive the app just keeps crashing, this is a very important feature. But it works on older Android phones.
Very good app, easy to use, and the backup functionality (now fixed) gives a certain safety against data loss. Suggestion of an improvement: allow users to create folder to order the notes?
The only thing missing is autobackup to Dropbox or Google drive, I know it is hard not to override data, but in basic cases when there's only a single source of data (single app on a single decice), that should be doable, I guess.
It works OK. Simple to use. Like its Share function. Could have given 5 stars. However, whenever I go to Settings > Backup, it is forced exit. I will never store any data in a program that has no working backup function. I am using LG V30+.
Pretty good so far. Perhaps add an option like fingerprint to unlock it. Less secure, but its more convenient! Also you guys should leave a link or button, for donations, so we can show support for your app :)
this app is soooo good and reliable and i've used it for years and u can make backup files for your notes. i have no problems with it. i just have something to inquire with the maker. because i found out the app uninstalled itself without me knowing and i dont know what to do and i have a lot of important notes there and i, unfortunately, didnt make a backup file. so i would like to ask if there is another way to retrieve those notes? like email???? or something? please? i hope you guys respond. if u can't do something about it. it's okay, but i hope you guys find something. thank you so much. have a nice day.
This was a great app but the vital backup feature does not work with Android 8 and it is no longer being developed. The git hub repository is no longer active. Great shame but you now need to go elsewhere.
Great app, updated my phone. Using Android version 8.0.0 and can't backup anymore. Crashes everytime. Everything else is still on point and works fine.

Backup doesn't work. App stops working if I tap on backup. It's pretty useless without reliable backup. What am I supposed to do if I switch phone?
The developer has dropped support. The last time this app was updated was March 2017. The backup feature won't work and crashes the app. Very sad.
Wonderful app. just wish one could move, drag and drop select notes around for convenience when you are in the application.
This app is archived right now and not maintained. I founded that this app won't backup your note if it's has bigger size, try to delete some note which are less important and you could use the backup feature.

I really like this app for securing notes. My only suggestion for 5 stars would be to have the ability to sort the notes alphabetically. **As of 6/25/18 the backup feature no longer works. The app crashes everytime I try to create a backup. Hope this can be fixed soon. I am using it on a Samsung Note 8. **As of 9/17/18 still no fix for the app crashing when trying to create a backup. Concerned I'll lose everything and won't be able to restore it if something goes wrong. I will have to look for an alternative if it's not fixed soon.
