Secure Folder

This update is available for Samsung Mobile with Android 7.0 and above.

Secure Folder leverages the defence-grade Samsung Knox security platform to create a private, encrypted space on your Samsung Galaxy phone. Apps and data moved to Secure Folder are sandboxed separately on the device and gain an additional layer of security and privacy.

Easier and more convenient
Store your private files and apps safely. It's easy to move apps and data by tapping "Move to Secure Folder" or by importing them via "Add files" from inside Secure Folder. Your personal apps and data will be separated and encrypted so that they are protected from malicious attacks.

More secure
Lock your Secure Folder with an additional PIN, pattern, password, or biometric lock, so that only you can access your private pictures, apps, and data.

Effectively manage data
Add or copy your apps and data into Secure Folder. You can use Secure Folder to store your private contacts, photos, and more in a separate account. This allows you to have two profiles on a device so you can manage your data more effectively.

※ Secure Folder will operate only on official software released by Samsung Electronics. Features or UX may vary depending on the device, OS version, etc.

※ Secure Folder is a service, based on Samsung account, that provides an independent, isolated environment within your mobile device. Applications and data moved or added to Secure Folder (e.g. photos, audio files, movie files, and documents), will not be accessible from outside Secure Folder, whether by USB or Wi-Fi Direct. If your mobile device detects any rooting or custom ROMs, Secure Folder will automatically lock-up in order to prevent unauthorised access, in which case you will no longer be able to access or use the contents within Secure Folder. Therefore, please make sure you back up any important applications or data elsewhere, such as on your personal computer, before moving them to Secure Folder. Samsung is not responsible for any data loss or inaccessibility.

Use Backup and Restore of the below path to store your customers' data more safely.
Secure Folder > Settings > Backup and restore > Back up Secure Folder data

[Required Permissions]

- Calendar: For the purpose of providing the ‘Share calendar’ function
- Contact: For the purpose of using the registered account to set up Secure Folder
- Storage: For the purpose of backing up and restoring the content in Secure Folder or for the purpose of providing the data backup feature when adding or deleting files
- Body sensors: For the purpose of using the lock screen with fingerprints and iris

Good app, very effective for what it is. Wish there was a way to completely hide it INCLUDING notifications when you deactivate it in the quick control panel -not just the app icon- so that the only way that an outsider could notice it is by activating secure folder in the control panel. My comment is pretty unclear but basically asking for a way to hide it immediately and completely. Thanks!

Absolutely ridiculous to use. Accidentally synced with the wrong account and it was SUCH a hastle to get one account off my phone and connect another one. Had to log in multiple places TO SIGN OUT. And then fully remove the app. Can't get it back now. Says it's installed, and it's totally integrated with the OS so you think it would be, but the app cannot be located or found. Absolutely ridiculous.

Horrible experience. Instead of providing security & privacy to my sensitive data, it blocks my access to these data by crashing all the time. I have to restart the phone every time I want to access the documents kept in the "secured" folder. The protection of other apps is a silly joke - it does nothing.

App keeps crashing!!! Despite using the correct password I can't access the folder. It just freezes and then goes back to the home screen. It's far too complicated when it does work. Just bring back private folder. That just worked. This is terrible. This is on an S10. Wish I'd kept my S7. That is a great phone!

Love this app, however it could be greatly improved. The notifications are a bit buggy, and we need more options for notifications. For example, I wish there was an option for it to not show notifications at all unless the secure folder was on, and whenever I turned it off the notifications would be removed from the screen and be shown as soon as a turn the folder back on. I also wish apps like spotify were allowed. If those things were added I think it would be a perfect app.

It's still disappointing to me that Samsung removed stock functionality in the ability to add multiple user profiles to their phones. It doesn't make sense even if "no one uses it" because it's already there in Android by default. Just let us no ones use it. I'm glad that secure folder exists as a kind of work around though. It's easy to use and easy to access but unfortunately also easy to exit. It feels like a major flaw that just tapping the home button takes you out of SF altogether, meaning you have to relaunch the SF app nearly every time you want to switch apps within SF (this wouldn't be a problem if we could just make a separate work profile) Now I just have to keep looking for a work around for my work around.

Images/Videos files disappeared when I moved them to the Secure Folder via Gallery and I can't find it anywhere anymore. It's frustrating to know that my files have all disappeared without a trace. Is there any way that I can get it back please? It's a useless app. Nothing is secure inside here. I don't even have a reinstall/disable option. The last update of this app was in 2018 too!!

App has been buggy for a while. Since upgrading to Android OS 9.0, I can no longer access the app. I'm able to select the Secure Folder app, but it gets stuck in a loop on the password screen. Happens with manual password input and fingerprint. However, I have an alarm clock app inside of the folder that is still functioning.

At one point I really enjoyed Secure Folder. It was like another phone within a phone, and I could set up a seperate home screen with sensitive apps and links. But updated my phone to Android Pie, which updated Secure Folder as well, and they completely gutted it. Now it's just an app drawer just like the app list and any links made with a browser go to the regular side of the phone making the whole thing seem pointless! Why did they destroy something so great!? Wishing I could revert back!

One of my favorite Samsung features. It would be perfect IMO if they added two features. Number one, the ability to backup your secure folder contents when making a backup with Smart Switch. You can already password protect the backups and I think you can encrypt them as well. So I don't see why not. Number two it would be awesome if you could use your MicroSD card to store your secure folder stuff. But I can understand if this isn't possible because it might rely on hardware on the phone.

Terrible app. Don't use it if you want to keep your files. It's great at securing your photos, videos and files but then it's also great at losing them. I think it's during an update but all my files and photos keep disappearing and the app acts like it's the first time asking me to setup a pattern/pin/password.

around two updates ago I stopped being able to see the notifications content from inside the app. it used to work just fine. you would receive the notification and then you'd be able to see its content once you opened the secure folder, but now it just doesn't happen and I don't want to keep clicking every single notification to see what each one is about. fix that!

Used to work perfectly and was a brilliant app. Now since the last update, whenever I try to add files to the folder it just creates an error message saying "Could not move all files. 0/1 files moved". Regardless of whether I try to do this from the gallery or from inside the secure folder itself. Please fix.

It was working fine, but not as great of an experience as the old knox secure launcher within the phone. However it has some advantages. With the latest update on the Galaxy Note 9 running Oreo 8.1, secure folder doesn't work at all. I can't open the app it get out to respond in any way, even within the settings menu. This just happened as yesterday it was working fine

Horrible. First, my files would not transfer over to the secure folder. Just dissapeared. Then I could not get into the folder with my password. Tried resetting password but still could not access. Your options appear to be either a.) lose files that don't transfer, or b.) lose files because you can longer access the folder.

Absolute must have for your phone. If you are a kind of person that doesn't wanna put password lock on every aplication instead you can keep all your critical/private files in one folder locked with your fingerprint or a password. I just have a recommendation for everyone and that is when first lunching the application to set in settings so you need to enter password or fingerprint everytime after leaving or switching app for more protection. All around working great and reliable.

Overall it's good but there's a really annoying bug. If you get a Notification in Pie, you can't press the notification button to get into the secure folder anymore. So you have to find the icon to open it. Then when you exit to another app, you're back button disappears. And the only way to get it bakc is to click the icon from the app drawer, open it., then shut down the secure folder completely. If you do like I do and hide the icon from the drawer, you'll have to restart the phone.

Seems like an update must of moved the app or locked it. Try going into your settings then choose "Apps" and find the "Secure Folder" app. Open it and choose the settings icon (gear icon) on the top, right corner. From there follow the instructions to activate the app. Remember, if you're switching to a different device, ensure to back up your Secure Folder contents from the settings within the app to the Samsung cloud. App has worked as intended for me for many years.. Hopefully that helps.

I hope I could give this app less than 1 star. I lost almost 2000 photos, videos, documents in my secure Folder. I cannot find those files.... I tried a lot but I don't know where they went. They all got automatically permanently deleted from my phone. This app is useless. Anyone can lose their files at anytime, due to this app. It's too much disappointing from samsung !

Junky. When Samsung upgraded to Android 10 secure folder lost so many features. Can no longer run two versions of poke-go, or install Amazon apps. I wish I would have known this and never upgraded to android 10. Or I wish I could downgrade secure folder to a version that worked. Maybe it's time to move to a new phone brand, one that doesn't restrict your phone so much. I paid for it let me do what I want with it.

My secured app keeps popping up out of no where every 2 minutes and asking for the password. When you are doing something in another app this pop up will close that app and you will have to go and reopen it. It's pretty annoying. It was not like that before. It only popped up when prompted. I have removed all files from it and wanted to uninstall it but I can't. Can any one help???

I needed this app today, and it's disappeared from my screen, I never set it to do that. I literally can't see it anywhere. Its installed. I've had this app for 3 years and it was great. I can never rely on it again though. It's December 13th 2019, and Samsung has done nothing, and now their email doesn't work. They just send you an automatic email that still isn't addressing my problem

This app did help secure the profiles and stuff, but sadly it won't let me gain access to the folder. It keeps telling me to sign in on the Samsung account which I did and now I have to deal with the verification and it won't send me the codes to my phone directly. It's been like this for 2 years. I have tried everything even deleting it but it won't let me.

More like UNsecure folder ... Upon first setting up the secure folder you believe it to be a place of security where others are met with a wall to block them from seeing content you'd rather have them not. And I was just as naive. What I didn't know is that Samsung uses this to lock you out of the permissions for the apps you have installed within the folder so the it is up to the app developer and Samsung to decide how much of your data or data about you gets out. You've been warned.
