WARNING: the app gives you a FALSE SENSE OF SECURITY. it has on numerous occassions showed that I was connected to the VPN but their own IP/DNS Test showed my real IP. Reconnecting corrects that problem momentarily as the problem showed up again shortly. No matter what your settings on the app are, the minimum is that the app SHOULD be accurate especially when Auto-Connect and Kill Switch were enabled. The app is highly unreliable and put you at risk.
OMG!!! Can things get any worse??? I thought companies get better over time but SS have gone totally backwards. The app, customer service and tech support, all totally useless! Over half the features dont work and when they do only for a short time. The makes you think you are connected/protected but when you check the site you find you are not. The bypasser? lets not go there! When it works, it works well but its getting it to work and that is PAINFUL!!!
Took the 7 day trial, so far pretty impressive as far as speed/reliability and always on connectivity goes. A Nord VPN customer, perhaps will keep surfshark as well. Update: Subscribed for long term, one of the better VPN's out there, does what it supposed to do and beyond. A must have when privacy, speed, security and reliability is the need of the hour.
Been using it for a year. Was good. Updated the app two days ago, often disconnected and my phone has been frozen frequently. Difficulty with opening the app too. Also affecting normal functions of my phone that I need to force restart all the time. Please fix it I have paid for 2 years. Update 27 April 2022: app seems improved but sometimes still unstable. I renewed my payment, giving a three-star to replace the old one-star. Room for constant enhancement for a more stable connection.
I really starting to dislike Surfshark. Constant connection issues make it hard to give more than 2 stars. The app turns itself off on Windows 10 but I keep surfing the net without noticing because the kill switch doesn't kick in. On Android often no connection at all, streaming stops until disconnecting and reconnecting the app. Very disappointing and I would not recommend to anyone who wants a reliable VPN at the current state.
What has happened. Surfshark has been a bit unsteady recently but today I cannot access the help guides as when I click on settings/help then guides Surfshark crashes and restarts. Only minutes ago I noticed an update and it installed but the problem is still there. This is happening on both tablet and phone.
I'm using the 3 years plan but I begin to regret it. It works mostly well on my laptop but the regular and sudden disconnections on the Android are becoming extremely annoying. Auto-connect is apparently useless as if I don't reconnect to the VPN manually, I'm simply browsing with the VPN off (in most cases without even noticing the VPN is no longer on). If the issue persists, I may begin seeking alternatives to SS.
Its good and bad, certain apps (STARZ, for example) recognize the VPN and makes you disable it. Google makes me do a captcha because of the traffic on the IP. I have to disconnect and reconnect several times a day. It's starting to get annoying. MrWhoseTheBoss owes me one for this.
Revised review. Getting worse. I used this vpn paid service for very long time on my old phones like s7 edge and s10 plus. Now I'm using s22 ultra. Initially the vpn worked but since this last one month just the worst vpn ever. I have cancelled my subscription i cannot use it for Whatsapp calling or even regular browsing. Y'all were better at this. Get your stuff together.
Didn't have a ton of features, but it's fast, and confess with more than you need. GUI is flat/minimalist in style, very nice, and finding your way around in the app has been done brilliantly. Last but not least, speed. It's also great.
great for the price I paid. connection is a little slow sometimes but it's going through more servers to protect your data so bound to be a bit slower than normal connection. alot of times I don't notice much difference in speed.
Update: have been getting a lot of errors stating I'm connected to another VPN, which I'm not. Need to "Force Stop" the app and restart. I'm hoping this gets fixed FAST. Was a great VPN. Don't want to cancel my subscription and start looking for a replacement.
*Edit: ever since last update vpn will stop internet from connecting even tho kill switch is off and it says I have to disconnect other VPN first and I have no other.* Data encryption only works with 1 kind of protocol, and it's the one that makes my wifi not work. Some of my apps and web pages won't work while this is on. Wifi keeps not working while using this. Also did not work properly when we went on vacation (which is the reason I bought it since we needed to connect to public WiFi a lot).
Terrible customer service. They blocked my account for months. Just got an incorrect password error. Figured the account had expired. Tried to sign up again and finally found an email in Spam. Contacted customer support and they could only day I violated tos. Could not even vaguely explain how. No refund for time lost. They're one of many options that provided almost identical services for similar price. I signed up to support a Podcast. Will not be renewing.
Terrible app and support. 1. If you expect the app can help you to watch some regionally restricted tv series and movies from Netflix, your thought is absolutely wrong! Save your time and money. This app does not work. 2. After I report the VPN app cannot let me watch the Netflix regionally restricted TV series, the support would ask me to try somewhat unproven steps and waste my time to set my phone and unset it after negative results. What a very unprofessional support team!
This is the first VPN I've ever used. I'm studying cybersecurity so I decided to get one LOL I'll only address the mobile app. I like the auto function! It needs some ironing out, though. It won't always detect when I'm back on my home network and will keep running. Sometimes the app triggers security warnings and I'll be stuck in a loop trying to prove I'm human. Happened to my mom and I had to turn the auto function off. She's not going to remember to turn a VPN on when she's out.
Spends too much time being unstable, unreliable & crashing while well capable of leading you to think it is still actually connected eg. the green/teal-coloured 'connected' icon remains on my apple mac desktop when, in fact, it has crashed yet again and is, instead, exposing my private IP. I was absolutely staggered to discover twice last week that my personal IP address was left exposed even when the kill switch was showing as active. That's called Worst Case Scenario. Dreadful.
Sadly this App has gone from being a reliable VPN to a somewhat flaky and unreliable VPN. I have just subscribed for another year and regret it. Many sites are now not accessible with it switched on and sometimes you have to disconnect it and reconnect it to get any internet connection. This is a real shame because SS used to be the b*****s but not any more.
I don't understand the low star reviews. VPN is fast and stable, easy to use. Dark mode and pause VPN for 5 minutes are great small features. I'm happy and the service isn't expensive at all.
Very easy to use. Normally connects every time. Sometimes though, some foreign websites, mainly in the US, still manage to block us. But I am sure Surfshark will continually be working on these probably.
The VPN offers 2 years of service at $56 and they upgraded the service with an optional antivirus service in their App. The antivirus feature will cost $ 1.59 per month more. They have fast servers in over 16 major cities in the U.S. which are easily navigated from a menu list under "United States." The servers are extremely fast, 500 Gbps, which is great, but sometimes the servers in coastal cities loose their bandwidth due to heavy gamer's traffic. I recommend the App.
I have been using this VPN for more than two years. At first it was great, all the features worked great. The connection was easy, stable and the ad blocker worked fine. Now it is a disaster. The connection is really slow, it blocks internet after a few minutes (on WIFi and data) so you have to disconnect and reconnect again if you want to have internet back. And the additional features are simply not working at all. The ad blocker doesn't block anything now. I really don't recommend.
