Seeder

Lag reduction for ROOT USERS ONLY!
Many Android tasks run slower than they should for one simple, yet not-so-obvious reason: they consume large amounts of random data from a limited source. Random data is used to generate session keys and unique identifiers, in SSL and wifi, while starting processes, and during inter-process communication.

This data (entropy) runs out frequently, and that causes processes reading from the blocking device (if any) to temporarily stop responding (lag). These processes cannot continue until the Linux kernel repopulates the entropy pool, which takes time. In addition, input events are pulled from the user interface (to refill the pool), which may also contribute to the problem.

Seeder is a service for root users. It assists the kernel in "topping off" the entropy pool by re-seeding it with data from the non-blocking (high performance) random device. Optionally, it can also help alleviate MMC I/O contention by extending the I/O queue, allowing the I/O scheduler to make better decisions, and combine more writes.

On some devices, applications load significantly faster (particularly large ones like Facebook, Chrome, and Youtube), and task switching becomes effortless. Fewer visual "hiccups" occur.

You MUST be running a rooted device to use this application! If you don't know what this means, Seeder will probably not work on your device!

*
* Note **

This app does not increase raw performance, but rather eliminates some types of annoying lag (ie. applications briefly freezing, jerky scrolling, delays returning to the home screen, etc). The effect seems to be more noticeable the longer the device has been running prior to activating the RNG service.

Google's efforts to optimize newer builds of Android have been substantial, and Seeder has less effect on Android 4.0+ (though many users still report improvement).

Bug reports are greatly appreciated. If you have any trouble with the application, please send an email before leaving a review. If during testing you find that Seeder does not noticeably reduce lag on your device, please email me for a refund!

I've been frustrated with my LG G3 due to the default launcher lag issues. Replacing the launcher wasn't much of an option since G3 features such as double tap to switch screen off (for example) doesn't work. This application fixed the lag issues of the launcher. The phone is now really responsive - as it should be.

This app is amazing. I've been running Android 4.2 on my Nexus 7 and have been searching for a solution to the constant hiccups I get. After installing and activating Seeder it has never ran so smoothly. For anyone out there who is on the fence about getting this app go for it, you won't be disappointed.

This app works sometimes but other times can actually cause more lag. When I first installed it, the app definitely seemed to give my Galaxy Nexus running CyanogenMod 10.1.2 a little boost. After leaving it on for a day or so, the phone was lagging up in a game that previously hadn't had any problems. I disabled it and the game sped right up. Perhaps the best use is to enable and then disable it to give your device the best of both worlds.

My S3 scrolling cant be smoother now. The whole lot of apps open so much faster. I have tried so many apps including the ones to clear the RAM auto.... or manually but none worked good enough. Really appreciate the developer for this excellent app. Also a very low priced app compared to the enormous 'android' satisfaction with the excellent background tweaks :)

I've bought a lot of apps to speed up my rooted phone including overclocks. While this doesn't need speed up your phone, I find that it does remove the whatever issues are slowing it down. In effect, it's probably the best available now, if you want to maximize your phone's potential. I now leave it on continuously. It's that good. Placebo effect? If you're not sure, find a game like Temple Run where this is continuous action and noticeable lag and jerkiness. Then, enable Seeder and play the game again. While the difference may not jump out at you (have an S3 which is already fast), it's noticeable.

I have a bunch of Android car stereos in my vehicles. My truck has a particularly underpowered stereo. It used to be so slow as to be unusable. Seeder boosted the performance 3x-4x. It's still slow, but at least I can use it for music and navigation. I HIGHLY recommend this app.

I assume it's a big luck that I met this app. Before I thought that delays depends on overclock settings and running apps. But now it's just smooth experience. Thanks to Seeder. I don't remember big delays with no reason. It's just us fast as I would like it to be. ICS custom, HTC Amaze.

It works so well it doesn't work well on Mega 6.3. When I touch an icon jumps to next screen and so on, not always, just enough to be irritiating. I went thru app list and knowing what Seeder does, I decided to delete and work Mega again, problem solved.

This definitely works to improve performance, mainly regarding IO and Memory Read/Write speed according to my benchmarks. My phone sure "feels" faster too. However, it does have a negative impact on graphics, with some tests showing a frame rate drop of nearly 48FPS (from 56 to 8-9). I don't know why this is, but I suspect that it could have to do with how Android allocates memory. TL;DR: Is it worth it? I'd say so. But there's some situations where I would want to turn Seeder off. (And you can do that quite easily in the app)

Sometimes I get flash happy and begin wondering why I root my phones. Then there's apps like this (that work) and I begin wondering why others don't root. Google now, tapatalk, market, you name it, all free of lag and where I had no lag before is too also snappier. Thanks. 1.99 is too cheap.. I've spent more and got a lot less.

This app works like charm. My lagging typing is no more. Initially felt like giving it 5S tar.. But let it be 4, so I can hve 1 for myself...Samsung i727

(Update. Causes my phone to freeze until rebooted now. Tested phone with and without Seeder on. Seeder is definitely the issue.) I definitely noticed an improvement in lag right away. Tested the phone with and without this app and there is a big difference. Just because we don't know why it works does not mean it doesn't work.

Even with a Samsung exhibit 4G, it works great. Does drain the battery, so I use it sparingly.

It does nothing. It's like those apps that pretend boost your wifi/internet speed

Unable to open with miui ROM any fix.. Paid for this hope can get this fix. Thanks in advance

I was skeptical when I first installed this app especially because it's running constantly in the background. I thought for sure it would be a drain on the battery. I was wrong! No change in battery life and all my apps launch quicker and smoother. Absolutely the best thing I've ever put on my phone.

After update In Jan it stopped working on my n7. My device is fully rooted and it will not gain root access. Even reinstalled superSU and seeder with no luck.

Cannot run even though I have my SGS3 rooted, dev doesn't respond to mail. I installed this, but couldn't get it to work, have my SGS3 rooted on android 4.3 and tried everything, no luck and the dev is non responsive to my mail.

Definitely a noticeable, pretty significant change in performance. Especially the app switching (in my case), it has become pretty much instant. Thanks.

Originally, when I put this app on my Galaxy Nexus, there was an increase in performance as advertised. However, as time passed, I found the phone getting slower and slower - to the point where there was lag in almost all aspects of the OS. Apps would take 5 to 7 seconds to return to the home screen, there was bad stutter when swiping between home screens, even turning the screen on and off was a slow process. In an effort to try and figure out why this was happening, I eventually tried disabling Seeder - INSTANT CHANGE. The phone is now just as speedy as it ever was, with no lag in swiping anymore, apps closing properly, even the brief screen power off animation was smooth again. This is the Galaxy Nexus I remember. TL;DR - this app is not worth it.

Nothing I have done has made such a difference on my phones. Everyone should install this!

Installed it and makes my phone less lag. Ancora CM9

Facebook seems to load a lot faster, web browser and other apps are noticeably faster. Seems to bring the speed of apps up to where they should have always been. Nothing mind blowing, but defiantly worth it.

This app truly does work. It makes a tremendous difference in my wife's Droid Incredible 2 and It even makes a noticeable difference on my quad core Galaxy Note 2!
