SemaConnect

Was a little surprised to discover prices are in US currency as I am in Canada. Have no issues getting units to start using the map on the app. Favourited the ones I frequently use for ease. It did take a moment figuring out the initial set up of the app, but no harder than the other 10 I already have on my phone. The latest UI update is grat. Really wish there was an option to check on the current status of an active charging session.

**EDIT** - Try logging out and then logging back in. After reading through some of the other reviews to figure out why there would be any above 1 star, one user recommended trying the logout, saying that doing so prompted the app to start working again. Logging out and in fixed the app for me as well, and so in my edit I'm bumping my stars up slightly. That being said, it is *extremely* unclear that this will fix the various issues that everyone else mentions, which are still prevalent whenever the app gets to the point where that logout is needed, so I will leave my original review below. This app is virtually unusable as of the current version. Can't find locations on the map, even standing right in front of a charging station. Can't use "Charge Now' to enter the unique code of the charging station to authorize. Can't log in most times. Can't add balance to your account. Seriously, do not bother downloading this, it is completely worthless and you will need to authorize using the phone number on the station anyway.

Unusable app, plugged my car in and tired to start a session after signing up, everytime I entered the number code it just cleared and didn't do anything. Tried a couple of ways to enter the numbers and nothing happened. Went to try and report a bug and the app won't even let you do that as it asks for a category and the only category it has is cancel so you can't even report any errors. Needs some major fixes to even be used

I am truly disappointed with SemaConnect apps and login. It won't run with 4G network on my cellphone. Perhaps this app only work perfectly on Apple phone but not android. It have no issue if I connect with Wi-Fi at home. Which means I can't charge with semaconnect charging station outside or without wifi connection on my andriod phone. Also it won't able to reload my credit. Look like I need to suggest my landlord to change another charging station company, otherwise it is completely useless.

EDIT: sorry for the wall of text, Google doesn't allow line breaks apparently. Review: The worst charging network I have ever used. It should have been a sign to me that there was already a Volt parked at one of the chargers with the charger connected but not started. First thing, the chargers have a tap reader but don't work with tap credit cards. So here's what I tried: Installed the app despite the awful signal in the parking garage. Tried to start the charge with a credit card. The app doesn't support Google Pay or credit card autofill, so I have to manually enter the number. At that point it looks like the charger is going to start, but instead it gets to the last step and then just hangs. Now this charger shows as Offline in the app. Time to move to a different charger and make a SemaConnect account. Now I have $10 in my account after several screenfuls of steps. Try to start this charger from the app. It starts! I walk off in to the building. A few minutes later I get notice that the charge has stopped and 1 minute and delivering 0 kWh. I try starting it again, and it hangs at the last step like the first time. Try starting it again, and it starts, then stops again. I repeat this a couple more times. As a last chance, I go to PlugShare and see the charger has a Pay With PlugShare option, so I try it. It takes a minute, then says it's failed. I finally give up and plan to charge on the trip home. Annoyingly when I get back to the garage I see a VW is using the first charger that I couldn't use because it showed as offline in the app. It still shows as offline. I assume they must have been able to start it with a Sema network card. My suggestions for improvement: Let the chargers take tap credit cards directly. I would have been charging in seconds with this option. If you can't do that, integrate Google Pay in to the app. Don't make me dig out my credit card and manually poke the numbers in to my device. Do anything you can to improve either reliability or make the stations more accurately show their status. Other people on PlugShare have reported this site with stations that start and then stop immediately. Are they the same one I was using? Who knows. Sema probably does, as the station likely has lots of short charge sessions that deliver little or no energy. Finally: shrink the app! Coverage sucks in garages, and this app has nothing in it that looks like it needs the 16MB download.

Absolutely the worst electric charging stations. Between the terrible app and the junky stations, I've never got one to charge my car more than 50 miles even when I have access and there is no limit at my station. You have to babysit your car if you use semaconnect, never ever had an issue with any other system.

Nothing worked, except calling their 1-800 number and paying over the phone. Lousy, not even your report an issue works Has drop-down options that require you to choose an issue, but they're are no issues to choose. Can't create an account, just endlessly loads. Try selecting charge now option, as soon as I type the serial number and it deletes it. Tap to pay did not work, neither does Google pay or Samsung pay. Finally had to pay over phone call. Won't ever use again!

The app does not connect you to your charging activity so you can't see the status of your charging (I used the rfid in my SemaConnect card). Also, it would be great if the app would text you when a particular charge port becomes available. And it would be great if it texted you when your charging is done.

Horrible since update! Phone app and phone browser does not recognize my user info and password YET computer does. Issue is there isn't a start charging button on the computer application only cancel. I've tried my chrome Mozilla and IE browser. This app goes from worse to worst....need negative rating

Good, but needs improvement. Really need to be able to favorite a charger when I start charging at ot, so I don't have to enter the number EVERY time I re-use it. There is no option to make it a favorite as I am using it. In fact, I see no way to get it to remember the charger at all.

App won't work for the last few months. Keeps saying that it can't connect to the internet. Update 4/2/22: just tried again and still experiencing the same issue.

Horribly slow. Often hangs even with good data connectivity. I want to like the app since there are several SemaConnect chargers in my neighborhood shopping center but this app or backbone service has to improve.

Had to call the 1-800 number. The recording that stated the cost per hour is 100% misleading. Almost blatantly lying. Ended up paying five times as much as I expected to pay per the recording for a single charge.

I'm not sure I've ever given 1 star but this app deserves it. Someone mentioned, previously, that they should look at Charge Point's app. I couldn't agree more. Not only is the app slow and buggy, it's still a giant piece of poo. I need to enter a station ID? I can't simply swipe with NFC? Maybe I went to an old station but the entire experience was frustrating. A note to the developers. Get an EV and go to a Charge Point station and use their app. EV drivers are looking for ease of use. Take some notes and fix your app.

It's an okay app. Works 80% of the time. Generally needs to be stopped and opened again for it to refresh. It would be great if they can add a notification functionality specially at work place stations where members can get notified when a charging station becomes available for use. This way one does not have to open and check the app every now and then to see if any chargers are available.

This app was always varying degrees of janky, today though it just straight up stopped functioing all together. I needed to charge, but the app couldn't find my location, and sat with a spinning-wheel-of-death until I just tried reinstalling it. Now it gives me an error that it can't connect to the server, and crashes. Take some notes from Charge Point on how to make a good, functional app and charging stations.

Doesn't allow secure passwords or tell you what their arbitrary password requirements are, it doesn't get your credit card info, it doesn't allow you to charge, UI is horribly broken, looks like a bad late 90s internet explorer site, never able to charge with the app. 3 tab layout didn't do anything well and allows you to get stuck on pages with no way back. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DON'T DOWNLOAD THIS APP, it won't work and will just cause endless frustration! -10/5 Stars.

These guys have a lousy app. Charge Point seems to be the best followed by Blink. (I'm relatively new to the plug-in vehicle scene so I'm going of of my limited experience) I keep hoping SemaConnect will improve their app in a meaningful way but it's not happening. Their mapping is terrible and it just doesn't have accurate mapping of where the chargers are at. Having to use the serial number just to start charging seems a bit outdated for these modem times but at least that part works.

They need to learn how to develop the apps. So slow and inconvenient. Have to wait to open up the apps to charge, not able to disconnect remotely, have to enter the station number instead of finding it on the map, and still many among other things. other than that, I'm able to charge just fine.

Fail on all levels! At first I could not set up an account on the app or on the website. Then I was able (only after emailing Customer Service) to barely set up an account. Now the app won't accept my login credentials, won't show me the location of the charger I'm standing right in front of, won't do anything. The website is a joke. When I try to login online, it just directs me to download the app that doesn't work. So I'm stuck authorizing over the phone which takes way longer than necessary.

I never write reviews, but this app has caused me enough grievances to make me want to write. This app simply doesn't work for Android users after their last updates. The interface is completely messed up! Essential functionalities like logging in and being able to enter the charging station from which you want to charge simply don't work. If it wasn't because I knew someone with a phone different from mine I would have been stranded because I had nowhere else to drive with my remaining miles.

Downloaded the app tried to put in my credit card and I kept getting a blank popup with just an ok on it. Tried a few times and then tried another card. All did the same thing. Then decided to call the customer service number to start a charge. Every time I entered the station number their phone system would randomly register different numbers. I typed 904014, phone says "you entered 99401". No matter how many times I reentered it it would never get it right. Terrible!

The last update didn't seem to be debugged, as it is completely broken and you cannot use it to charge in any capacity. You can't even report issues on the app, because, well, nothing works. I feel the need to update this review, as this company persistently has issues with their app. You now cannot initiate a charge on mobile data. The alternative is calling in, but then you're charged a "convience" fee.

After creating an account I had trouble logging in and, the app had trouble finding the terminal. So I didn't get to charge my vehicle.

Very quick customer support when stations go offline or when there are issues. The app makes it easy to report issues on a specific charging station

Can't even register and account. I don't get an email for verification (and yes, I've checked my spam). Tried with two different emails.

WHY CANT I JUST USE GOOGLE PAY!? I spent way more time in this app just trying to charge my car than i had expected. The business model is also very annoying for charging stations that are sparse to find. You have to refill your account $10 the first time and $20 each other time. It feels like i paid money for a whole lot of nothing a lot of the time. The charging process was not at all smooth. I had to manually enter the serial number instwad of tapping my phone to the terminal to pay.

Tesla driver here, I'm very happy that I have multiple options to choose from if I'm not near a Tesla charging station. SCs are easily accessible whenever in in the shopping center to top up my battery 🔋

I would give it zero stars if I could as I can't even login. I can login to the desktop website, but neither the app nor the mobile site recognize my credentials because you can set a longer password on desktop than on mobile!! As a software developer myself, I know this is really basic stuff. Basic debugging shows they're not even using the same endpoint to authenticate, which means that the mobile experience is being developed separately and therefore will have incompatibilities with the desktop experience. Naturally, you can't even reset your password using the mobile endpoints, so doing that is pointless. Unfortunately, I'm stuck attempting to use it because these are the chargers they have at my workplace.

Interface and options are good. Can be laggy at times when clicking on station and starting a charge.
