Sense Home Energy Monitor

Device detection is a joke in this app. It's so woefully wrong on so many guesses and keeps populating new guesses for things it that's "detected" already. If it wasn't accurate with current consumption and my solar production; I would be returning or throwing this device away in a heartbeat. I suggest not buying in until they attempt so serious improvements.

Works well for the most part, but the 'Usage' section is mostly useless due to a bug that just lists the monthly usage for each month as 100kWh. Talked to support about it months ago and was told that it would be resolved soon, but that didn't turn out to the be the case.

Disappointed with the purchase. Been two plus weeks and the only item recognized by the device is my microwave.

A few ui improvements from greatness. Have had it for about 1-2 years, and the potential is there, but the ui interface is restricting it from getting there. The automatic device detection is useless- maybe 5% accurate at best. That would be fine if the manual process for recognizing and adding devices allowed me to actually do that, but it does not. Without at least one of those capabilities, it is unfortunately mostly useless.

The GUI is not particularly intuitive and takes alot learning time. It also does not match the version in most of the YouTube tutorials. Much different then this App

Huge security risk!! I've received alerts that 'name' TV has been on for more than 1.5 hours (where name is someone's actual name that isn't in my house), that my bathroom light has been on for more than an hour (when it's not), and this morning that my heat pump has been on for an hour. (I don't have a great pump). I always considered Sense to be the worst device I ever paid money for and pretty much a Scam, but this latest revelation is a new low

Though not perfect, device detection still amazes me. A new device or appliance will pop up in the app and notifications, and is usually accurately labeled. Each morning I sit on the Lanai, and can watch the sunrise by observing the app. It's uncanny how even the slightest change in cloud cover or the horizon line will impact the amount of power being graphically represented on the home screen. The app sees it immediately. At the very least, it's entertaining. But really informative.

Easy to use and it provides a ton of useful information on my home's energy usage. Matches up with my electric bill within a dollar or two. Shows instant results from an appliance turning on or off. App works as advertised about 95% of the time. Device detection isn't perfect but fairly accurate and you can update or merge any incorrect devices. Love it.

I've used Sense for over two years and the supposed ability to automatically determine what devices are connected is a bad joke. I've practically begged for the implementation of manual device registration to no avail. The fanfare which surrounds the integration of "smart plugs", which can do a lot but not all of what Sense claimed to do, is little more than a celebration of throwing in the towel on the original concept. Save your money, I wish I had. UPDATE: Sense support was never able to help.

This app is unpolished. It hangs up a lot. It demands you enable GPS. Changing screen orientation from portrait to landscape forgets how you had the screen zoomed/sized. There are size presets, but the presets are rarely the size you want. When in landscape view, there are no navigation buttons, you have to rotate back to portrait. Sometimes the app forgets your chart data and you have to restart the app. This app is OK, but it needs a lot more polish. Use the web app instead: home. sense. com

We have a 2 unit apartment with a single 200 amp entrance. Sense seems to find all of the devices, but for some devices, often they are reporting they are on, likely due to the devices being too similar. I jumped on the extra clamps for the dedicated circuit so that I could clamp it on the 220v feed to the 2nd apartment's sub panel, but when setting it up it warned that it was actually only for a single device. My fault, I probably misread the promotional email. Perhaps in a software update :)

got this thing installed after moving around a bunch of breakers and circuits only to realize I probably need to return this device since it wont connect to the app on the phone. Tried 3 different phones and customer support is only able to help via email. There should be live phone support to help with issues in real time. Off to a bad start so not a good experience.

Great tool! It helped me catch a leaky pressure tank saving me money on not having a well pump running as often as well as not burning out the well pump. This also helped identify a ejector pump going bad as it was turning on more than usual and it ended up that the float was starting to stick. I just wish you can tap on the other or always on bubble and be able to manually identify what you just turned on and off to speed up the learning process. Also of it could pull from your home list.

Recent update messed up the timing algorithm. I see device notifications that are not in my home . Great hardware, sense real time for my solar production is better than my solar PV's OEM app. Several concerns though, pls fix; (1)Solar analysis shows

This experience has a lot of potential. But it's not quite there. I've had it for just under a month and it identified some stuff. However, the app said our dishwasher ran continuously for 12h straight, which is false, and I still don't know what device that is. I wish I had more insight into what the app is trying to detect so I can nudge it in the right direction. Like when my Tesla comes on it's very clear what device that is, but so far sense hasn't found it.

A few application glitches. 1) When I turned on dark mode the screen constantly flickered and wouldnt stop. I had to force close the app and reopen. 2) when adding a 3rd device in appliances, the keyboard keeps dissapearing. I found a workaround though but that needs to be fixed. 3) i wish adding appliances UX was easier and at a higher level rather than burried under "home". 4) i wish that you had options of switching or adding a new home profile, use case is for rental or multi properties

still not sure. almost 4 months and OTHER is more than 50% of my stuff. not very clear yet if it's gonna help with what I needed. update: I appricieate your response. I have contacted, and received a tip on telling it if a device detected, in fact, did NOT turn on, that has been tough to catch. unfortunately that only throws the item back into the "OTHER" category, which is more than half my usage. and the stove, toaster, coffee maker, keep confusing it, all items with similar power usage.

Terrible app. It doesn't work no matter what you do. Uninstall & reinstall app? Nope no change. Power off and on system like the app says? Nope no change. POS app.

While device detection is not perfect and will continue to be ongoing with mixed success I'm satisfied overall with these tempered expectations because sense never promised me perfection. Very nice app interface, works almost always on the devices that are detected and provides a lot of insight to our energy use. The support has been mostly helpful too. Thanks team sense!

So far, my new Sense is useless due to an app bug. Paid electrician to install 10/12/19, wasted tons of time with/without electrician trying to get past"Verify install". Failed every time. Hours later of going through the drill turning breaker on/off, stopping/starting app and bluetooth, trying another device, etc etc etc, just turned out to be a HUGE waste of time. Sent logs to support, today was told bug in Android app. Waiting for new version, hopefully soon! Will update review if fixed soon.
