Sensory Processing Disorder

Adhering to occupational therapy ‘homework’ can be very challenging. Kids with Sensory Processing Disorder SPD, Autism ASD and ADHD need daily sensory activities to stay regulated. Treat app is part of a professional therapy platform that helps caregivers manage daily sensory routines. Parents, teachers and other caregivers get notifications with illustrated activities recommended by their child’s therapist. They can log their child’s feedback and keep track of therapy goals.
Sensory Processing Disorder can be managed. Kids with SPD can learn to self-regulate, calm down and maintain an optimal arousal level throughout the day. Occupational therapy offers a family-centered approach for providing sensory inputs tailored for the needs of every specific child within his own home, school and family routines. Treat app helps caregivers and SPD kids to carryover occupational therapy recommendations into their daily routines.

Clinical research shows that Sensory Processing Disorder can co-exist with Autism ASD and Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder ADHD. Kids with ASD and ADHD often receive occupational therapy with sensory based strategies, also called sensory integration. Maintaining sensory activities beyond the session can help kids with Autism and ADHD keep regulated so they can develop social and communication skills and participate in daily activities.

The Treat app was designed by parents of children with Sensory Processing Disorder and in conjunction with professional advice from over 60 occupational therapists around the world with specific expertise in Sensory Processing Disorder and Autism.

The Treat app is part of a professional therapy platform for pediatric therapy carryover. It requires setup by a therapist using a professional interface. Caregivers can invite their kid’s occupational therapist, speech therapist, physical therapist, psychologist, etc. to join the platform free of charge. Therapists can easily build daily routines for caregivers to get through the Treat app.

The platform includes nearly 200 illustrated activities, color coded by sensory system. In addition, therapists can add their own content (images and videos). It is recommended that therapists and caregivers build the daily program together. Each activity can be assigned a time and a daily child routine (such as morning / bedtime routines, in class / recess etc.). Caregivers can later edit the exact time of the activity and manage alarm notifications through the app.

The platform includes monitoring therapy goals and tracking child’s feedback to activities. Caregivers can log their adherence and take notes for their child’s therapist to review at her/his convenience. Data accumulated from thousands of users shows that when caregivers and therapists begin each session by reviewing the feedback and adapting the program, the adherence is more than doubled.

The caregivers’ app side is designed to work online and offline. So caregivers can continue to use the app even when located in areas with poor internet connectivity. The app will sound the notifications, show the content, and caregivers can log their feedback. When the phone is connected to the internet again, the data will sync with the therapist system.

The app comes with 2 weeks free trial after-which a monthly subscription needs to be purchased. The subscription can be purchased either by the therapist using the therapist system, or by the caregivers through the app (GooglePlay). The cost varies by the number of months, for example a yearly subscription costs $5.99 per month. The app supports auto renewal that can be managed through GooglePlay. The cost is per therapy program, not per device, so every subscription can be used by multiple caregivers using both Android and iOS smartphones (subject to version differences across app stores).

Treat protects your private health data securely. Tablets and some mobile devices may not be supported. Treat requires Android OS 4.2 or above.

I find it hillarious for people to think such an app would be free of charge. It is connected to specialized therapy services and adds value to the relationship with your therapist. It further supports a proper schedule for your child's planned activities/therapies. For $40 a year? Worth it.

It wouldn't let me as a therapist sign up even though I reloaded the page !multiple times. This app also would not let me use my Gmail for another client. Installing this is a waste of time.

Its not really free app. Its a trial for 14 days then they ask you to purchase it. I pay enough for my sons therapies and such. Looking for actually free resources to use at home is near impossible.

If you miss an activity there is no way to go back and do the exercise. Not user friendly. I want a refund.

This would be a great app that I would love to have if I didn't have to pay for it. My child was recently diagnosed with SPD and I was so happy to find this app until it asked for me to pick a subscription plan.

How do I delete the free subscription on an android phone app? I am not paying for it.

This app would be an AMAZING resource if I didn't have to pay a subscription. It would be one thing to purchase the app once, but to have to pay 35.99 each year!!! My child has Sensory Processing Disorder and this will not be helpful....because it isn't something that is "cured" and is something she will have to manage throughout her life, I would have to pay 35.99 a year until she is old enough to manage these things on her own. NO WAY! I am pretty disappointed.

Any professional will tell you that it takes more than 7 days to know if your special needs child will positively respond to this app making the free trial useless. Don't bother downloading.

This is such a great concept...but i would never pay that much. Families with children who would need this type of app, already have enough expenses medically etc. Why would you charge for this??!
