Wonderful application, however it has some flaws. The application will force you into a 16:9 aspect ratio mode even if you have a different aspect ratio. When opening an application it might open in fullscreen mode even if you open it as a normal window in the right click menu. When you are in a maximized application there's no way to go back to windowed mode. The volume control buttons sometimes don't work. This app doesn't run in a fullscreen mode so it will always show the navigation bar and picture in picture overlays will act like the notification bar is still there. There are limits to resizing windows. Open window on left or right side feature doesn't work
It's good, but a few things. I am on Android 9, but it only seems to be able to view Oreo. I enabled "Force activities to be resizable", however it does not seem to pick up on that, as it does not give me the option to click OK after I did as told. But, the UI and UX are beautiful, it's rather quick, and it is doing its job. If these above issues are fixed, I shall up my rating to 5 stars. Best wishes!
The app is very good for doing our work in a desktop environment and I personally liked it, but there needs to be some bug fixes and some tweaks to the app. Like, the exit button doesn't show when some apps are on fullscreen. There should be a bit more cleaner UI and a dark mode for night users. If these things were to be seen, this would have been the best android desktop app.
Received my physical Superbook today. I had expected the user-experience to pretty much be plug-and-play, but it's not. If you were unfortunate enough to upgrade your Android OS to Oreo, there are extra steps requiring USB debugging by connecting your phone to your computer via ADB. After fighting with it for a while. I've pretty much given up. My phone model, which was specifically provided to the creators when I place the order, doesn't work on the Superbook.
The idea is perfect. I was looking for something like that for a while. Unfortunately I'm unable to fully use the app. At the beginning when app asks me to change I've value in developer options it doesn't recognize that it was done, and I'm still unable to use window feature. All apps starts in full screen. I'm using pixel 2 with Android 9
Similar issues faced by others: 1. Does not recognize when permissions changes are made (esp regarding resizable windows). 2. Does not recognized Pie. Boo. 3. Update process was interrupted because phone went to lock mode, now Superbook will not recognize phone (why does this app not prevent this from happening?). 4. App keeps turning on and off (per error box). Why? 5. Troubleshooting documentation is practically non-existant. Currently very disappointed. This is a very long way from plug & play. And this was after waiting 6 months after the initial delivery date. I understand that this is a very new product. I look forward to bug fixes. Just a suggestion: how about letting your initial backers know when you come up with these fixes? I will be glad to edit this review when that happens. Until then, it looks like I have a new paper weight.
Amazing app! My only problem is it doesn't restore back the DPI. And every time I restart my Note 8 (even if I don't open Sentio), the DPI shrinks that I can't see anything. My other concern is there is no way to set the aspect ratio to fit the screen I connect to through HDMI. It retains the Note 8 aspect ratio which in turn doesn't for properly the LCD screen.
You don't need a superbook for this. I just cast to my TV through a chromecast. The app works pretty well. I use my S7 Edge with a Chromecast and hook my wired keyboard and mouse through a hub to the USB adapter that came with the phone. Could also use a Bluetooth setup for that and hook up a charger. All in all a decent desktop experience. Can also use a wireless charger at the same time.
Unfortunately this app just is not playing that nicely with Android 9 pie.man I would pay $20 for this app gladly easily if the developer would start working on it again there's nothing else out there like it. So frustrating to hook the phone up to the 60 inch TV to have these huge phone buttons.this program has so much potential but it just isn't being developed anymore and it's not quite working the way it should. What a bummer. I'm still giving you five stars because it's potential.
It's ok, but the app doesn't handle the launcher option well. When I close the app,I need to choose my default launcher, because it doesn't appears there. And I can't pin the app, so it's almost useless. I can't resize some apps without enable it with a PC, and in a very weird way that could confuse quite a large portion of people, which is quite annoying, because on some devices, it is possible to enable that without following their guide.
app is not stable. shuts itself off far too frequently. one of the selling points of the kickstarter campaign was to show this working with Netflix and other similar apps. as of today, it does not work with Netflix, MLB at Bat, Sling, etc.. Sentio has promised to fix this, but they have promised a lot of things. the Superbook sits unused in my closet until it works with more apps.
It works? Sort of? There is a bug that will overlay what I am doing into the wallpaper of my Galaxy Tab S7+. That means the app suddenly becomes my background. It is a very serious bug, and when it happens it instantly forces a restart because force closing Sentio Desktop does not kill the bug. It makes the app practically unusable as a productivity tool, because you never know when it will fail. On the few occasions I do not get this overlay bug, it does kind of work.
I'm a Superbook Kickstarter backer and was excited to receive the Superbook, but cannot get it to connect to my BB KeyOne Android Nougat phone. I've tried everything I can think of with Displaylink Presenter and Sentio desktop, uninstalling, re-installing, but the USB doesn't prompt me to choose Displaylink as the default; even tried refreshing in the Displaylink app as suggested. So I only get the desktop on the phone and no mirroring on the Superbook. Very disappointing that I now have a screen, keyboard and plastic cover that does nothing but show a floating "connect your phone" graphic all the time.
very buggy. received my superbook a week ago; touchpad is completely inverted an useless and I cannot get ahold of any sort of support from the company. The desktop is a bit hard to set up, not terrible. On android O i got the multi window to start working, then it stopped after a day for some reason. same with the resolution. all these are just minor issues to me if i could just get the touchpad to function like its supposed to. great base for a very useable product, but not ready for mass production yet.
I used this to transform my Android TV box into a mini PC setup. This is the best launcher I've tried that served that purpose. I saw a few bugs, but, hey, with everything that it allows me to do, this app is AWESOME! Additional features I need in future updates: 1. option to set as default launcher; 2. widgets support on home screen; 3. option to configure where the exit [-] button is located; 4. option to minimize/maximize windows any time
If this app was updated for android 10 and 11. It would be so great. Android 10 and 11 have native built-in split screen for apps and other features. Hope it can be done as what does work on my android 10 tablet has potential to rival Samsung Dex. I see the last update was in 2018. Perhaps 5he developers have discontinued or abandoned the project. :(
Great app, very well designed and runs very quickly. The desktop layout works perfectly and I have used it alongside java new to do some work in a rush Some improvements I would like to see could be Option to set a different wallpaper from the one I use for my main UI - I'm happy with that one but it's a picture of trees which is currently being displayed at 90° when I use this Start menu could be more user friendly - perhaps more similar to windows10 ideally but not a deal-breaker by any means
Awful product. Confusing, terrible setup experience to eventually get to a product that basically doesn't work (if you're patient enough to keep trying past the numerous failures and crashes). Requires enabling developer mode and installing 3rd party software. After waiting over a year for a superbook, it's simply not good enough. And the hardware is embarrassing....poor finish and creaks if you touch it.
This is awesome! I'm running cm-x86 on my PC, and this makes the experience a-maz-ing! The only thing is I can't see how to make it remember window sizes for apps. On closing an app and reopening, it goes back to the default window size. Otherwise, keep up the awesome work!
tbh, the concept is really good, but the execution is not that much can keep up with the concept. i really like how you can make your own android to become your own personal PC, the problem is.. there's still many bug that I found (especially for the current android Pie). I might change the review if sentio is fast enough to response the community and quickly solve this issue
I wish you could update the recent apps function. Does not actually serve a purpose for me if I cant use it as an app switcher like on windows. Can you make it function like an app switcher like on the android multitask switcher? But looks similar to the microsoft windows app switcher? You seem to be using only the default app switcher which is from samsung based on my device. Also, can you add a minimize button to full screen apps (apps that cannot be switched to windowed mode)?
I just received my Superbook, it was in the middle of updating the firmware when it disconnected. Now it won't boot, I have a picture of a superbook that indicates to connect to my phone. The software on the phone says to reset the superbook. I've tried to reset it, nothing changes. So far, my superbook is a brick.
Volume buttons on my Xiaomi MiMIX2 stop working, it works once then I must restart the device. I did everything word for word to enable window drawing in Oreo, give it all the permissions, enable all the options in sentio settings on the taskbar. I can see the devs want it to be beautiful, but simple things like window resizing, maximizing and closing don't work, just dummy buttons. Also quite sad is the tablet version of the Microsoft apps don't work, you just get the mobile version.
It works good in my old redmi, dpi changing works fine, applications work also. But sadly I must uninstall it because it makes my hardware navigation button not working after clearing background processes, it runs on my miui so clearing background processes is sometimes automated. Long press still work, just back, home and recent button function not working, so it must be a software issue. Back to normal after reboot. Edit: its accessibility permission crashed navigation button and volume button. No longer need to restart, just revoke accessibility for this app and navigation buttons work normally. For now it's still 3 stars. Please fix this bug.
Conceptually this is phenomenal. For advance tasks basically useless, however it is pretty great when it comes to basic usage, such as youtube, and web browing. Set up is a big hassle. The biggest problem though for me is personalization. The task bar should be customizable, I only use half of the icons in the task bar and I'd just like to get rid of the stuff I don't use. App menu also needs to be larger, either switch to grid, or add more columns (or option), when a large number of apps are installed it can be an pain to find what you're looking for, also when clicking letter to jump to that area of list should be fixed, currently if I click "s" for example it jumps to display the dry FIRST entry at the bottom of the list, it should jump to bring you selection to the top. I used this app once a few years ago, and it doesnt seem as though any real progress has been made. Missed potential to sum it up
