An interesting app. It feels similar to the stock lg search, that occurs when you pull down. I was happy to mess around with the app, but ultimately disappointed. The functionality doesn't really seem, to me, to be worth the premium price. Most of the functionality can be achieved wiyh minimal effort on my part. No offense intended to the developer, I just found that it wasn't for me
I have really enjoyed the app. It has aided in searching for my files, apps, images, videos, any/all types of settings and for any perceived lost items in my phone. With Nova Launcher & Nova Launcher Prime as well as Tesla Notifications the integration has been seamless. I purchased the Pro version and it too is so in depth and quick with results. Thanks so much!
I wasn't expecting much- but Sesame is great! All the useful features of Google, but is customizable enough to turn off/ modify the annoying/ useless features. I like that I can change my default Search engine to DuckDuckGo, and browser to Firefox Focus (which got can't do with Google app). I've found it useful to be able to search multiple apps (contacts, calendar, notes etc). The UI is very customizable, and the app is very nice and fast, so searching is snappy.
This app is very peculiar. It will absolutely revolutionize the way you CAN your phone, but ONLY if you disclipline yourself to remember it's actually there and use it. Once you get over the initial hurdle of forming the habit of using it, you'll wonder how you ever got along without it. For me, I have nothing but my dock on my main home, I hide my notification bar, use a live galaxy background, set Sesame to open on home tap, and the world is at my fingertips. Minimalist functionality.
It's great upgrade from the default search option and it adds great shortcuts to many of your favorite things in full depth. It compliments a launcher very well, especially Nova. Definitely would recommend, I bought it before finishing the trial and have no issues with it Edit: Almost a year later of using it and it is my go to search tool! I stopped using Nova but with any other launcher I simply apply Sesame to a gesture and I don't know what I would do without it.
Easily find contacts, apps, music, files and more with this fantastic phone search. Works better than Google's built in search on my phone.and far more customisable. Highly recommended. Have recently realised that shortcuts no longer work properly. Apps that have shortcuts, they don't show up in Sesame. So I turned that feature off and only use search. Be aware, I'm not sure if the app is still in active development.
The concept of this app is pretty cool. I bet it works great, but it only has a 2 week free trial. I would prefer a completely free app, like many others out there. I did notice that it had difficulty connecting my Google account to the app. It would show the prompt for me to login or confirm that I want to connect to it, but it would hang and the loading circle would keep spinning.
I'm blown away by the versatility. Speeds up every day tasks a lot and it's very easy to get started and configure to your liking. The only gripes I have is that when I open it there's a seemingly random list of contacts which I have never called on this phone, and that I cannot use YouTube Vanced instead of YouTube for the quick search feature. Other than that, I have no complaints at all.
I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical about this app to start with, seems to promise quite a bit.. It's got quite a learning curve - takes the app a day or two to 'learn' your movile phone usage and based ita suggestions off that, but it's definitely a fast learner. I'll most likely change 4* to 5* once I'm used to the app. Want a minimalist home screen, completely blank but fully functional? It's right here.
Very powerful and clean looking app. I DO love that its an independent creators. I teach technology security and have been a personal Android and Nova Launcher user for many many years. As another reviewer said. "Once you have your apps and basic shortcuts setup there isn't much more that you need, including Sesame." Totally Agree! If I have to open Sesame and then type in a contact then click on the person, this is the same as opening contacts and typing the name and dialing. I tried it for months and Tried diligently to use it to its full function...and I found very little use of it.
I LOVE Sesame, an amazing app! So much more than any shortcut! Sesame could actually replace a launcher if necessary, but when combined with Nova, it just pushes customizing Android phones (my fave hobby EVER!) to a much higher level because you can choose to put less icons/widgets on Home/Lock screens! Love being able to choose an icon pack for Sesame too! Best app of its type, does it ALL! Hands down you can't go wrong downloading/buying! Thank you for the awesomeness! A billion ⭐'s❣💕
I love this App. It makes Android far more useful and dynamic. While google is out there limiting features of convieniece, sesame is piling them on. I also love that I can set my default search to ecosia but also send my query too google, maps, Netflix, etc. It's very smartly laid out once you get the hang of it. I hope they can continue growing and expanding features because this app is the game changer. The support channel on Reddit is fist class too.
An app so essential, it should be a part of stock Android. Nothing else comes close - map it to a swipe gesture (via another app, such as Edge Gestures), and the need for a launcher completely disappears. Unfortunately, Sesame doesn't support Textra as the SMS app. Not only can Sesame not make shortcuts for it, Textra doesn't even show up in Sesame's search at all. Eek! That's fairly inconvenient, but I'm not going to punish these fine folks by dropping a star. Keep up the amazing work!
This is so amazing! I'm always so impressed with the level of expertise one must have in order to build such a flawless, practical, and very easy to use app. Just for launching one app, having Sesame eliminates 3-4 other steps (if not even more than that), before you get to the part of the app that allows you to complete the action you're intending on making. Example: from home screen, w/1 long press on an icon, I can directly compose an email, visit a fav site, open specific doc files, etc. ♥it
Would be amazing, if at all possible, to also search within OneNote notebooks on my device through the global search, like a quick app search that exists for some other apps, or at least have an additional shortcut available to initiate such a search within OneNote. At the moment I can only create new notes with the available shortcuts, and no option exist to create such a search shortcut for OneNote. That would avoid having to open the app manually first. Other than that, this app is superb!
This app used to awesome. Now one of the primary features don't work, contacts search doesn't work properly only shows whatsapp option, no phone or text. Edge is slow and laggy. Please fix these issues. Please update the contacts issue with Samsung devices. I really love this app and don't want to uninstall it or see it not work :(
can't direct dial from the phone icon anymore. Loses shortcuts, direct message on Pulse texting app. Is still useful in some ways. But seems like this developer and Google are not on the same page with the idea of force touch options. saves so much time and clicking around your phone I'm amazed it's not more widely used or desired!
[NEW REVIEW] All it is is an advanced search menu for websites, apps, shortcuts. That's fine if you don't have Nova installed, but for other launchers that require a shortcut to Nova's advanced shortcut activities window, Sesame does not do this at all. Also Sesame does not have any any book marking features that allows you to "pin your favorite apps to the top of Sesames window." Also Sesame requires you to launch Sesame in its own window rather than from the main page like "Edge" does.
I'm really impressed with this app. It makes using my phone and tablet so much faster and everything is so much more accessible. It's fast, intuitive and highly customisable. I have uncluttered my screen because everything is a few taps away. The $4 pricetag really blew me away. Really appreciate the efforts of the dev(s). Keep up the great work.
Bought it as an add on to Nova launcher. The shortcuts really streamline access to tasks; although this requires the app you're using to have those shortcuts available, and a little effort to set the shortcut up. Persistent accessibility not just from the home screen would make this really incredible though.
Tried it because of possible integration with Nova Launcher. A big mistake as all my Web searches were directed to Google via Chrome rather than allowing me to continue using DuckDuckGo the Nova default. I don't want everything that I do on the internet going through Google and being linked to my Google account. Sesame may well not collect any data themselves - they just pass it straight to Google. No thank you. Promptly uninstalled.
With the new update of one ui (altought I use nova launcher), the system has a lot of battery use with the process "contacts storage". At the end of the day this process is the top ofender. If uninstall sesame, the process dissappear so definitively is sesame the one that cause the issues. I play with all the contacts options and none seems to resolve
tL;DR Amazing personalize shortcuts for all apps and social medias for your phone, free trial than one time pay. Sesame is a great app to personalize your phone. You can instantly go to play store for a selected app on your phone instead of having to search, it makes it easier to add YouTubers to your home screen and all sorts of media. Including custom widgets and settings. I would love to see free version after your trial expires with significant reduce of options to still experience the app.
Can I test the contact add-on first? I bought the paid version a few years ago. This is a fantastic app that I highly recommend...extremely useful! A bit disappointed to see this new contact add on feature requires an additional payment. Not too cool. I'm interested in it though but would like to test it out first before paying, to see if it's actually something I'd use. Is a trial option possible?
It's pretty good. I just wish they would go to a subscription model so there is ongoing revenue from the app. I feel that many apps die after a drop in new purchases over time. Maybe order some upgraded version with a yearly fee.
Meh. I wasn't impressed but it's not that the app isn't good or doesn't work as advertised. I came across the Sesame name in the settings of Nova Launcher. I decided to give it a try after reading some of the positive reviews. It turns out that I don't have a need for an app like Sesame, but I understand that others find it useful. I ended up never using it and I often forgot it was even installed until I pressed my home button and the Sesame search screen would pop up.
The app used to be fine, but for the past few months it has crashed intermittently, preventing me from accessing my home screen (Nova, though Android specifically mentions it's Sesame that crashed when the wait/close dialog pops up). Uninstalled for now, and I recommend against using it until this bug has been fixed.
Amazing App. Changed the way i use my phone. I dont want the app drawer anymore. The file search integration is so cool. Any file in the device is just 2 taps away. Albert (mac) alternative for android. Beta version is little buggy. The new contact actions addon sees interesting. Sadly there is no option to tryout the feature. Feature Request : Ability to add custom quick search apps. So that i can search flipkart, amazon products within sesame.
I don't leave many reviews but felt this was necessary. I just paid $3.99 for the full version and the first shortcut I went to setup afterwards required another $1.99 purchase. If you feel like paying for something, then paying for it again, then this is the app for you. I have never before purchsed an app, only to get hit with another purchase option immediately afterwards, simply trying to do what I thought I just paid for. I'm not sure if I paid the extra $1.99 if that was it or maybe the next time I tried to setup a shortcut they would want $2.99. I was happy to pay for the app but very unhappy that I couldn't use it without paying again. Never really got to try out it's functionality, so can't comment on that.
