Severe Weather Alerts

I just installed the app so far I like it. The one suggestion I have is the option of disabling the alerts that don't apply. For example I live in the Midwest and we do not have tsunamis, volcanoes just for a couple examples. I do not see a way of disabling those without changing all alerts.

Good for one very specific location at a time. Alert notifications work, which is more than I can say for many similar apps. It would be better with a few additional features: option to be alerted when watches/warnings expire; county level location selection; full state location selection; filter by type of alerts to be notified of; and location search results showing city and state so you know you have the right one (there are many cities with the same name).

SWA has greatly improved since my last post. SWA is VERY on the ball, sounding the alarm no more than a minute or two within the time of warning issuance. If you need an app that's not only more accurate than your phone's built-in wireless emergency alerts, but more customizable in regards to what you get audible alerts for as well, this app is THE ONE.

Great app! I have 2 suggestions that would improve usability. First, on the notification mapping page, categorize the alerts. Right now they're randomly ordered. Either group them on kind (tornado watch, tornado warning, etc) or type (advisorys together, watches together, warnings together, etc). At bare minimum, make them alphabetical. Second, the alerts don't bypass the phone sound settings. Extreme alerts should at least have the option to bypass silent/vibrate modes

Exactly what I was looking for. Very nice app. I love that I can customize alerts so many unique ways. I love it. One small suggestion: it would be nice to have extreme alerts sound persistently until I interact, to make sure it wakes me up for a tornado warning.... But still an awesome app. I highy recommend it to my friends.

I really like the app. I've always needed one like this. I do wish that you were able to put a notification sound on medium and low as well as create custom levels with sounds. I would even pay a little bit for that feature. I would like to assign sounds to all the different types of warnings so I can tell what type of alert it is just by hearing the noise. However it's still a very good app and worth five stars. This is very good for people who are outdoors or in areas w/ inclement weather

Great app if you move around a lot, as it only alerts you if severe weather is near your current location. Which is determined automatically based on phone location service...no more alerts for areas you WERE AT but no longer are at. All alerts are configurable as extreme, high, medium or low and alert tones can be assigned to each level. Works great and alerts are sent as soon as the weather service announces.

Downloaded app as replacement to WDT's Weather Radio, which is no longer supported. Have had the opportunity to run it through its paces and works great. Notifications seem to come within seconds to a couple of minutes after NWS issues its watch, warning, etc. Very timely. I like that one can customize notification sounds for different types of alerts. A few suggestions for a future release. 1. The ability to have more than one location so we can monitor grandma's house as well as our own. This would be a ginormous improvement! 2. Put the alerts in some kind of order by type. For example, have a grouping called Winter Weather and include Snow Squall Warning, Winter Storm Watch/Warning, Blizzard Watch/Warning, etc. Have another group called Tropical and include Hurricane Watch/Warning, Tropical Storm Watch/Warning, etc. Even just keeping the current list but having them sorted alphabetically I think would be better. 3. Be able to select your desired location on a map. As it is now, once you have set a location, you can't see it on a map to verify it is set correctly. Anyway, this is a great app, something everyone should have.

Got this app specifically for weather alerts, and it serves its purpose. No fluff, bare minimum, and I'm Happy with that. Notifications and alerts go off on a timely manner; the different icons for different alerts on the notification bar on the top of my device is a nice touch. App is completely ad-free, and free of charge, and actually works. 👍👍

Thanks for making the ripple edit slider remember it's position! Had some wind alerts yesterday and worked just as expected. Comparing alert times to IEMBot, at least with the phone screen on it took less than 30 seconds, which seems great to me and comparable to WEA as I remember enough of a delay being able to confirm I was in a polygon from IEMBot before it was sent to my phone via WEA. With the screen off, I didn't time it in seconds, but the notification timestamp and IEMBot's timestamp were a minute different, which could be also within 30 seconds. Even if it was a minute, I think the delay would be caused by my phone (or Android). I added the app to my phone's battery optimization ignore list since then just in case that was a problem. I am also glad to hear that you are already working on something similar to the hazard tag feature I suggested, and will be looking forward to it and any other features to make it even more customizable, because after that this was what my idea of a perfect weather radio was on the software side.

So far so good. I was really frustrated with weather apps or even wireless emergency alerts not consistently warning me about tornado warnings and watches. I tested out a couple apps from The Red Cross, but this one seems to work for what I need. I like how I can see what kinds of alerts do what kind of behavior, how I can set the alert tones, can override do not disturb, and can send test alerts. Thank you to the developer! I hope this app can keep working a good long while.

So far it seems to work well enough. I wish it had a better help menu, I can see its minimal - but I have no idea what - Ripple effect is or does. I like the radar but it didn't show my county. I don't know what county that was for, but it wasn't mine, it was the wrong shape. Having the radar is nice, but I wish it was simply a feature I could use. I like the soft colored background, its better than the start black and white other apps use. I would love to have a boil water alert on this. I only have one other program that does that, I like to have back up. Also i'd like to know what town its reporting on. While it says current location, I may be on a trip and I may not know what town i'm in, if this updated when it connected to a wifi point, I may not know what area this was covering. Just give me a town, and a time of when it last updated so I know how fresh it is.

05-02-21. This has quickly become an app that *everyone* must have. The latest update hits all the right buttons! New & improved interface. Lets you set notification preferences for each severity type (none, low, medium, high, & extreme), with different sound settings, including DND settings, for each type. You decide the when and how each weather event notifies you. Worthy of 5 stars! (Note: Thanks for adding a test feature and for making the Ripple Edit setting optional in the latest update!)

Works quite well. I am a long haul truck driver, and with winter approaching I need to be able to look ahead on my route. With this, I just click through a series of locations and check the notifications along my route. What would make this app ten times better is if this process were automated, if I could enter a route and have it check along the whole thing for warnings.

The graphic design team did an excellent job here. This is a good LOOKING app. From a more practicle perspective, it needs some work. IMO, the biggest fault is that it treats a Special Weather Statement exactly the same as a Severe Storm Warning. The latter I want to know about. I want it to have pop-ups and loud noises. For the former, a silent icon on my notification bar is sufficient. If I'm in a tornado warning and it's 3AM, I want to be awakened. If it's getting foggy outside, not so much.

Got this as a replacement for another app that stopped working. So far it has been phenomenal. Very straight forward, easy to configure, and does what it claims. Only suggestion I would give to override notifications being muted to play assigned sound at full volume for an extreme alert.

Amazingly responsive alert time! I love how easy it is to review and set alarm levels. The queue for recent alerts is a brilliant touch. Only additional feature I would ask for is to set multiple locations to watch (preferrably with their own alarm settings).

Works good, but there is a ridiculous amount of notifications with no change in weather status. Reminds me every 5 minutes that it's going to be windy. No point in having a severe weather app that you have to turn notifications off for.

Great app for notifying you of bad weather and other dangers. This is a great add to those weather apos that lack alerts and if they do have alerts you have to use the default sound associated with the app on your phone. This give a nice loud emergency alert.

The app is fantastic! the alerts are just as fast as any source available. The customization for the alerts are very nice. It would be nice to add custom sounds to the notifications, but that could be a device limitation. Developer is available for queries and resolutions.

Finally, after years of searching through all of the major weather apps and none of them having reliable weather NWS alerts, this I PERFECT. Hugely customizable. Notifications work exactly as expected. Very nice touch to have the "test alerts" function.

Edit 5/31/21: Manual location was added recently. I wanted a replacement for Pro Weather Alert and this is it. Not sure what the update frequency is or if it can be adjusted but so far my alerts have shown up within 1 to 3 minutes of them being issued by the NWS. Alert notifications are color coordinating by severity and specific alerts can to be reassigned. Notification sounds are changeable. Alerts in the app show full warning, watch, advisory, statement texts and a map with radar. Well done!

"Error occured while getting location. Try opening Google Maps, pressing the GPS button to force update, and returning. Also make sure You're location is turned on." ⚠Get that message every time I try to access the app I remember this app used to work for warnings but I don't know what's the problem now. 🛇 No alerts = broken app ↪please fix this bug or issue or give feedback if I've mistaken. Despite being set to play a "blaring" alarm in emergency situations, this app stayed completely silent while I was in the direct path of major tornados and extreme storms on the night of december 10th. Silent push notifications were all I got. Genuienly considering legal action. Phone was not silenced nor on do-not-disturb. Downloaded this app as a layer of comfort and went to sleep assuming it would be there for me. Thank God I have a roommate whose app actually alerted him outloud!

As described the app pretty much remains quiet with nothing to see when opening but when it comes alive like it did for me earlier today, it gave me a very detailed warning about severe (55+ mph gusts, happens here) wind in next 24 hrs within my set notification. Then when I opened the app, more information. Must also note the way the info is presented impressed me too... Professional warning/advisory like NOAA not juvenile attention getting animations for example. Appreciate that.

I love it. No ads, no alerts in random places near me, but not in my area. Very useful 👌, sometimes it does the full alert sound during a cancelation, however this is the best weather alert app. ⚠️

This is great. I've got a meteogram widget that shows me all the day-to-day details at a glance whenever I'm curious, but this app lets me know *from my pocket* if there's something I need to be aware of. That's essential functionality where I live and this provides it in a straightforward and effective manner. Open source too. Couldn't be more pleased.

As a weather enthusiast myself, I love the app. Amazing simplistic design, notifications, custom alert categories, and even safety tips. I'd say it's one of the best weather apps out there!

Updates have really turned this app around! I had used last year and it was inconsistent and had a cumbersome user interface. Since recent updates this is a whole new app. I promise if you are looking for an app for just weather alerts, you will not find one better.

Awesome app. Was tired of being woke up in the middle of the night for non-important alerts with my weather app. Severe Weather Alerts let's you fully configure the Alerts you're interested in and how of if you will be notified.
