SFST Notes

SFST Notes is an application designed for law enforcement officers who enforce DUI laws. This app allows you to take notes in the field for both standardized and non-standardized field sobriety tasks (FSTs) using easy-to-use buttons and check boxes to make note of FST clues and other indicators of impairment.
By default the three standardized tasks (HGN, 9 Step Walk and Turn, One Leg Stand) are included along with preliminary interview clues. The user has the option to add other FSTs, including Finger-to-Nose, Romberg, Alphabet Recital, Backwards Counting, and a Preliminary Breath Test (PBT). Tasks are organized in an easy-to-use tab format and you can return to each task at any time to include additional clues.

Once you complete your notes, the app will create a basic narrative detailing your observations that you may use and modify as needed for your police report. You have the option of emailing this narrative (an email client such as Google Mail is required) or saving it to your SD card.

Other special features include:

- 30 second timer included for One Leg Stand task
- Ability to account for each specific missed step on the Walk and Turn task
- Start/Stop timer included with Romberg task

I love this app! I wish I could remove the "Mr" and "Mrs" and just have the subjects name, however it exceeds expectations. The included timer and reminders of what to say and do are awesome. Adding a few more options on the OLS would be awesome too like " did not point toe"... All in all, this is an absolute steal for 3 dollars!

this app is amazing for getting the basics and a narrative down. I go through and rewrite it to fit my style. the only issue I have, a picky one, is that it only covers 3/4ths of my screen on my S9+ from left to right.

Awesome for when dealing with drunk drivers. I can write my narrative with a few clicks and a little bit of data entry.

This is the most useful police app I've ever used. Please add the finger count test to a tab. That would be greatly appreciated!

some of the verbiage isn't exactly NTSA recommended language, but 95% is solid stuff

Can this app be updated? Marking steps in the walk and turn test no longer works.

This is the best SFST app I've came across yet. Only a few things I'd fix, just adding to the instructions: to the WAT, you need to add in the instruction to tell them to not start until you tell them to. And the other is that for the OLS, you need to add in the instructions that you only tell them to raise their foot up if their foot touches the ground. Other than those two things, great app.

Pretty good app. I'd never use the generated narrative for final version though. I do personally go in much greater detail on DUI investigations. But I will no doubt print it out and use it as a reference to document all the clues. One thing it definitely needs is a warning prior to closing the app. Upon testing I hit the "back" button on my phone and immediately exited the app. and lost my fictitious data. This would of been a disaster if I had been in the field. Probably a good idea to continue to document clues on paper and transfer to this app. once in a controlled environment. I'd also like to see the court recognized formula implemented into this app. for estimation of BAC. (so many clues in so many categories = .??+- BAC.)

Pretty good for narrative... Needs a little more options for customizing.. For example, I don't use Mr or Mrs on my narrative... So I have to go back in and change that off the suspects name in the narrative...but overall good app for a quick and detailed dwi report.

Give it 5 when there is an option for notes only, not just narrative creation. Love the multiple tests including non-SFST

I have to edit the narrative a bit each time but this is mainly a great note taking tool. Just make sure you tap the right things on the screen at the time you observe them.

This it's a great app for officers working DWI. The only thing is it refers to the the tests as task, which is an ready find and replace fix.

Worth every penny. Wouldn't advise copying and pasting anything, but it's a great note taking tool.

Love the app, but for some reason on my Galaxy 7, in each section, options overlap and cannot be read clearly. Also, would love to see an option for stopping maneuvers early, with the option to state why. Thank you...great app!

Need to make an update for Android phones that doesn't erase entered data if you "backspace" your way out of the app. If you hit the home button, it saves it, just not the backspace button.

Like the app. Suggest in the narrative it states how many clues found on HGN but not for 9 step or one leg stsnd. Very user friendly.

Step in right direction. Need option to add FST's i.e. Finger Count. Recorder would be nice throughout entire interview so u don't have a phone in ur hand. Option to text results to someone. Need two spots for BAC results.

Phenomenal Resource! This app will allow you to put 8n all your SFST notes and then generates a very nice narrative you can email yourself or download to a SD card.

Great way to store notes quickly especially on the WAT. Will this be available for iphone? My issued phone is an iphone and I'd rather not use my personal phone for obvious reasons.

Excellent app. Needs optional abilities to enter agency name, disposition of vehicle & subject.

I use it all the time on DWI stops. Very useful tool for a Patrol Officer!

Great app, but the alternate sfst's need to have an instruction feature also. Add instructions and ill give 5 stars. They dont teach alternative sfst's at academy anymore down here.
