App used to be good. It can't find songs & takes forever to load the library. You also can't sort your library by things such as song titles or artist. I have no idea how many duplicates I might have. And when you pull up a song it doesn't always show the correct video (ie Vevo/musician vs random person upload). All of this can be done with simple coding. I have better luck finding songs via Google search. This is just more proof of how bad Apple is. It ran better before their acquisition.
This review has been a while coming. Shazam would continuously fail to match songs where Google Assistant would succeed the first time—that's not even Google Assistant's main feature and it does a better job! Then, when it finally managed to match a song, I had no way of viewing it on YouTube Music (which announced was taking over Play Music a while ago). I think the "best" feature at this point is that it keeps a history of matched songs… which I don't really need, so thanks but no thanks.
Used to love this app. Now the Shazam web page says they don't actually offer the Encore app anymore in the store. Which is the ad free app, and something I paid for. This is BS. Hope I don't have to upgrade phones anytime soon. And I no longer have the option to purchase music from Amazon or Google music within the app. I loathe Apple.
This app is great when it works. Unfortunately, in the last few months I haven't been able to update this app (this is the only one) and it tries to update several times a day, draining my battery. I have cleared the storage and cache on this app, the Google Play store, and Play Services and nothing has worked. I have 16GB of storay available on my phone and each time the download completes and then throws an error saying it cannot be installed. Fix this, and you get an easy 5-stars from me.
It works but I can't link it to google play music. spotify fine, but google is seemingly only barely supported by going through many menus. That also does not guarantee that you'll have the option to use play music. This should be able to link to all music providers.
Works well, this has helped me find a LOT of great songs that have been playing in clubs, house parties, radio etc but didn't know the name of. Still, the app recognizes some songs completely wrong a bit too often.
Streaming a preview of a song that I'm currently playing through a podcast is extremely choppy. Tried shazamming other songs, same deal. Cleared cache, force stopped, same same. Streaming/YouTube from every other app, audio is perfect.
Using Android 8.1.0/v11.28.0-210527🔴No option to "show duplicates" in library & an option to remove them 1 by 1 or all at once👎 🔴No search option for library.👎 🔴After successful ID w/ Shazam pop-up, lyrics auto show. No setting to turn off?👎🔴Where is interactive world map (Google map) that used to show where you tagged songs?👎 🔴Loading library is still rather slow with +2500 entries.👎Add to Spotifylist removed👎 Hardly innovative useful updates. Only optimizations/bug fixes❗❗❗❗
I absolutely love this app. However every single time the devs do an app update, the app has to do a set up, which requires internet, and takes precious seconds when I need to catch what a song is. If this is fixed, full stars!
The app is very handy and the popup shazam button is useful. However, the settings tile for popup shazam is non functional meaning the only way to turn it back on is to go through the app settings which is tedious. Hope it will get fixed soon
* Updated January 9, 2019 * Glad to see that purchasing via Google Play Music is back! Shazam won its stars back. Can't use the app to buy music with Google Play anymore? I feel foiled. I bought Shazam Encore and now I lost one if it best features. I want a refund! Thanks Apple for ruining Shazam for 50% of its users!
When I enter my library the thumbnails don't load, also there's no option to play the song in YouTube music, also it's been more than a year or so that almost half of the identified song aren't automatically added to Spotify
First I'd like to say that Apple should sell this app to an independent developer. With that said, I don't know what everyone's complaining about, there's the ability to buy music from Google Play in the App. The app itself is OK, the features are good, I don't like it running in the background although (-1 star), and it runs smoothly on my G7. This is well worth the money regardless, and is probably the best app on the market for what it does.
Instead of persistent notification, you should look for the toggles in the toggle menu for more convenient approach. Popup earlier was good, it use to stay for some time but now it just disappear right after search for the song.
Wow - this app is the only one that can't update itself, the developer still hasn't fixed it after a long time, and it's clearly happening to many others - sad statement about the makers of Shazam - insecure. Soundhound works much better!
Now that Apple own it, I've lost the choice of picking Google music etc for buying a song it only gives iTunes now. I still use this to find the name of a song but now I have to manually search Google play to find the song for purchase.
Gets results quick, but they removed abilities to add music to Amazon Music, ect. To be expected since they are owned by Apple now I suppose. Looking for another app now.
Used to be great but now Apple own it for an Android user it's rubbish. Only links to Apple and can't set it for Google Play Music. 80% of devices on the planet are Android, this app should reflect that. Removed and now looking for another app to use.
Can no longer use Google Play Music or any other popular music service to play captures. I know Apple bought Shazam, but they MUST know no one in Android uses Apple Music. A once great app has been destroyed.
Used to be great. Now owned by apple. Used to be able to identify a song then go to my preferred site Amazon to buy it. No longer an option. Typical apple, only wants you to get services through them. Will have to do things the hard way, ID then type the info into Amazon's site. If I find a non apple app to ID music this ruined app is history.
Keeps regressing post Apple take-over The way Apple has conducted themselves relative to this app is one of the primary drivers for my not moving to their phone ecosystem when I broke my S9+ and had them in consideration for privacy concerns. They may be more on front street with their analytics but their obstinacy was their undoing.
WAS one of the best and useful, until apple splashed the cash. apple music? No bl88dy way. (And even the Beatles beat you to the name decades ago!) It's typical of their tactics - let the switched on developers do all the hard graft early on, let them build a neat app and then give them an offer they can't refuse. Should have some principles guys, big bucks ain't everything. Uninstalled with pleasure.
I am on AT&T Samsung s10 and have not been able to update the app in over 6 months. Every update fails. Uninstalled and reinstalled and same thing.
Mehh..It works.😒 But I don't like that I have to go to the top of the screen, tap the dots, choose my music app, while the Apple music, that I don't use, is right at my thumb-tip. Used to be down at the bottom but they purposely made it inconvenient at the top. Thanks Apple. Anti-competitive spirit makes me want to switch 😁👍. Been using the free Google music widget and it works just as well so far and no ads. Even though I paid for this in the past I will be uninstalling😎.
