It is a good game, however it has flaws that make the game unplayable past one try. For starters lots of things are advertised in game that will happen but it never seems to come. my main concern is that when your original family dies (even if your shelter is steadily populated) the shelter dies. But the the most unsatisfying issue was the loot system. The fact you can't figure out what to prioritize for what you need or want for your next upgrade. It is a struggle to guess what is important.
The game is an excellent concept. Managing your people is fun, and there is a good amount of procedural events that can mess with your attempts to maximize efficiency (not unlike RimWorld). But the controls are awful. I never know what is clickable and have trouble knowing when I've clicked it. Cycling through people is harder than it should be. I need to move my people aside so that they can use the very object they were standing in front of. Expeditions are a neat idea, but you don't get to see much of them (one of Fallout Shelter's biggest flaws). Many of the systems clash. It's fiddly to start or stop a task, and this has led me to for instance, accidentally send my little girl into the wasteland alone without a haz mat suit or a gas mask - 1. I couldn't cancel the expedition; 2. I already put her and her mother in haz mat suits, and then they took them off when going on the mission; and I didn't know that the suits don't have filters, so I didn't think to pack her a gas mask; 3. When I realized they were leaving without suits, I canceled the expedition for her mom but then had no way to cancel it for her. Placing objects you're crafting is a nightmare, because I have to find an area outside re hit box in order to move the screen to the correct area. And crafting is also odd because I have no in-game way to know where the components can be found. It is extremely hard to manage the colony's inventory. These UI issues need to be fixed. And the clashing systems. The underlying gameplay is pretty good, but the design on the surface has too many problems.
I've played so many games, and for mobile, this may be the one game that tops them all! Yes, it has its faults (touch controls can be unresponsive), but it kept making me want to continue, and once I got into a somewhat repetitive cycle, I wanted to do it all over again. This game has an RPG feel, Survival (duh), looting, and a bit of micromanaging. I personally recommended if you're looking for a shelter survival experience.
So overall, it's not exactly a " bad game " but in order to play the game for achievements. You have to play at a horrible disadvantage including the fact you have to have a full family and little supplies to build enough beds for them? The controls are buggy where you can't "click" an object if an NPC is standing in front of it, so you have to wait for them to move? I think maybe 1$ or 2$ is worth it but so far, no more then that.
Really enjoyed the game on Console as well as on Android. But rearranging the Shelter needs to be optimised. Please make items 'snap' to each other so its easier to make the most out of your space, its really frustrating trying to arrange things inside the shelter, especially on mobile. Also, making the occasional mutant beast passing by on the surface would be a nice touch. Great game but needs upkeep.
Played enough of the game to play through it in hard difficulty with no problems, which in and of itself is a problem. Once you have a firm grasp of the game mechanics and micro-management of the individual characters to prevent any waste of resources, the game just ends up becoming extremely repetitive. The game includes a few quests, but not enough of them to balance out the inevitable mindless wandering you end up doing with your characters since there's nothing else to do. Also no updates.
It's a good game, I definitely had fun playing it the first ten playthroughs. After all if these playthroughs, I started seeing a common trend. The high maintenance micromanagement and lack of necessary supplies such as food (biggest issue by far), was more tedious than it was entertaining. I even ran a family with small-eating traits and still ended up struggling with food, all while trying to craft the necessary items in my shelter to be self-sufficient. I firmly believe the game runs on luck
Absolutely worth. It could be better though with more content. The game becomes too easy and stale if you get the pattern or startegy to survive in the beginning. Mid to late, it gets kinda boring. The only hard part was to get through the early stages of the game. I can still say it's worth the money and 5 stars but maybe in a month or two, I'll stop playing it. This IS an old game after all.
This game is a "Buy on sale". I picked it up for $1usd and the gameplay is engaging enough but is quite repetitive. You have to manually manage the bases occupants. Occupants will perform essential needs automatically but every other action is manually done. This game can be slightly frustrating with the clumsiness of the touch control responses. (S-pen compatibility would be great) An update improving touch controls and automating more base activities would change this rating to a 4 star.
The game is okay, I want to love it, but the overall speed of gameplay feels slow. RNG seems to have sway in everything and the difficulty is amped throughout regardless of setting. There should really be a casual mode, if you put time into balancing a casual mode of sorts, people will come back to this game that have left it to dust.
Potentially fun, but everything falls apart too quickly and people's needs are too much. Running out of materials, yet all characters have too many needs to go on an expedition. The controls are too clunky and difficult. The gameplay is just painstaking and not very fun.
Quite hard survival and resource management game - but as soon as you learn about the different items and upgrades it's a lot of fun! And I personally appreciate that there is almost no tutorial - it's really giving you the feeling you are on your own to survive
Unplayable it crashes every 3 to 4 minutes and when I opened it again I have to start from scratch. Tried 4 to 5 times and now uninstalled. Thank God I got it from play pass and not from puchase. Please don't purchase this game, they didn't gave any update since 2017.
Hard to have fun; a game I wish was a bit more lenient. In the beginning most things are explained to you, but not everything. The most frustrating thing early is food I wish traders carried more of, water pollution and sleep. Usually I just rush for 1 more medium water jug and hope a trader or my expedition team find rope for snares than I rush for a freezer... If I get that far than Im usually set, but by golly its hard to do. Still a good game, but needs an update.
Awsome game, very stratigic yet so simple, graphics are fitting and the adventure never ends. Rate this game a 4 stars, if it were free i would rate more as the value of this game is questionable compared to the price. None the less fun game but quite challenging.
It's great to see an "apocalypse" game that's not the same tired old "zombies" schtick. Problem is, before you can explore the shelter, learn game mechanics, what things are\do or how to interact with environment, it's non stop dilemmas to deal with. Before you can find the toilet for the first person, two more need to sleep ...but you have to make a bed, and don't even know how to craft yet. It's too many petty little annoyances before it can start to be fun.
Very awesome game here 10/10 because there is so much variety of gameplay and music to it however the words are a little too small and they are hard to read but other than that SPECTACULAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The game is version 1.0 and was never updated since release even though it has game braking bugs. I assume the good rating is from people who wrote the review a little early before encounting one. The game itself is pretty good 4 star. I also own the PC version which had support.
Amazing game, post apocalyptic survival in a shelter, it's realistic, mostly, and well made, but I have one problem with the newer Android versions, unlike other games that connect to play games, this one takes a whole 5 mins to launch.. please fix this. Thanks!
My favorite casual game on mobile ever. I sincerely love this. I really hope they continue to develop more updates and even sequels to this. The repayable aspect of it keeps it fun too. I have nothing bad to say about it tbh. CHEERS!
A good game, with flaws. My main gripes are the constant shortage of water making progress extremely slow, and the relative scarcity of supplies to upgrade your shelter. After sinking hours into the game I barely had more than one additional room built and nothing fully upgraded. The difficulty is a bit much for the casual gamer. Be prepared to spend lots of time learning the ropes for this one.
