**EDIT: frequent crashing bug has been resolved!** It's fantastic to have all three of these classics available on mobile, but the app itself isn't the best. Every time you launch the game you're signed out of Google Play & have to sign in to access your saves. You'll be signed out periodically during gameplay & have to sign in again to save. There doesn't seem to a way to load a save while in-game. Rewinding is locked at 15s intervals with a 30s cooldown. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3
May 4, 2022 update - the issue with Shining Force II freezing after several minutes of play seems to have finally been fixed with the latest update and the game is now playable again. ----- Great games, however the recent update seems to have introduced a bug that causes the game to slow and eventually freeze after about 10 minutes (Shining Force II). Some kind of memory leak? Please provide another update to address this!
Great old console game brought to Android. I don't like that game has long animations for every move even when enemy doesn't do anything on its move. Game should skip showing enemy if it doesn't do anything, wastes time. But otherwise I totally recommend this game. Great classic tactical rpg.
I was pleased to see that this app provides SF, SF2, and shinning in the darkness. Adds are only seen at the star, when resuming gameplay (after unlocking your phone or switching to a different app), 15 second rewind (very handy), and the app save function. HAD a crashing issue. Latest updates have resolved it!
It's a faithful port of the games, controls work well enough (clunkiness isn't as bad for TRPGs as Action games). Major issues with unresolvable freezes occurring after more than five minutes of play in the middle of battles. Ad-enabled Save/Load feature often fails to work--loading ad successfully but failing to complete Save/Load afterwards in half of all instances, prompting player to watch another ad again instead of Loading/Saving. Don't buy ad-free option till freezing issues are fixed.
Frequent Crashes. I love this game. Paid to remove adds then switched to Galaxy S20 Ultra and now it regularly crashes while playing intermittently. It also crashes everytime I lock screen... After replaying the first battle 5 times I got frustrated. When it crashed 3 times in the second battle I realized it was not worth my time. Pleas fix.
Look.. Shining Force 1 and 2 are fun. 2 is my favorite but it keeps freezing every 5 - 15 minutes and the only way you can play this fluently you need to save every 3 - 5 mins to not lose progress. SEGA if you see this fix it please. And it looks like 1 is ok, it's just the one most people love is broken. This is an update. The battle where you get to the birdman area is impossible to get through due the issue. Also SEGA why haven't you test the update first and why arent you fixing it? Day 27.
"Watch an ad to use this feature."~Loading a save. I purchased the "no ads" option a long time back because I HATE ADS. No original Sega game had them, and having them makes what little nostalgia exists in playing the games on the phone disappear. Right now I can't even use my saves because it tries to make me watch an add to use the save feature. But no ad shows. Both yes and no options result in not being able to load a save. 2☆ ONLY because Shining Force 1 and 2 are legendary.
Looks like my review from last night was deleted or something. The tl;dr version is the app freezes and crashes when I try to move the buttons around in the control config and then the controls freak out once I'm ingame for about five minutes and act like they're being held down after a single tap. Was looking forward to playing Shining Force for the first time but it's sadly impossible on this collection for the bugs. The Phantasy Star Collection works great though. I'm on a Motorola Supra G.
Freezes all the time and directional pad is not great. Update 5/4/22 the freezing issue seems to be fixed and all is well so far.
I have enjoyed Shining Force and Shining Force II since they came out in 1993 and 94. I happily downloaded this app and started playing. I can put up with an occasional ad, but to access my own ly game save, I have to watch continously ads and not even get the save to load, is unacceptable. Uninstalling and going to find it on Steam.
Worked great on my old phone. Recently upgraded to a new top-end phone and I can't get through the current battle without it freezing. Cleared cache, data, reinstalled. No change. Now unplayable. Aren't games supposed to work better on higher-end phones, not worse?
Game is unplayable. Very unfortunate since I love the games. Constant freezing and crashing. Literally constant. Ive had to restart at least 10 times and im not even complete with the 2nd battle yet.. I opted for ad free and its basically just theft considering how impossible it is to play.
I love this series, and paid for the ads-free experience, but it consistently crashes about five or ten minutes into the second battle of the first game. I'm concerned to start either of the other games for fear of frequent crashes as well!
I am a massive fan of this franchise and actually love having all 3 games. But I am now saving after every battle because of constant crashes. If they fix the constant freezes/crashes I will happily upgrade my score. I am playing on a nord 1+ 5g phone This simple Emulator should work flawlessly.
Game constantly crashes lately, and it's very frustrating. Practically unplayable as you have to save constantly, or risk losing progress. Please fix! Otherwise a fantastic game.
Absolutely love Shining Force. This version crashes and freezes on a constant basis, so if you aren't saving every five seconds, prepare to lose progress.
One of the best old tactical games for me I played all shining force series and I recommend to play shining force 1 & 2 and give it a try and I hope Dev's remaster shining force 2 with very big story and alot of characters with different classes
Had a problem of kicking me off the game. Couldn't save or make any progress. This last update fixed that, and now I'm a happy gamer 👍👍
I may doing it wrong but I cannot access saves unless I'm online. So my game is useless unless I have network. I get it, I'm on a phone, but it's a feature I require
Glitches like crazy. I paid for the no ads version, and it still freezes every 5 minutes. They really need to fix it. May 2022 edit: They actually fixed the glitches! Runs without any problems now, and the save anywhere feature is a great improvement over the original. Upgraded from 2 stars to 5!
