It's an alright app. The translations for the tutorial stuff and the menus could use some work as the English is quite broken. Multiplayer is alright, but I keep getting matched up with people way better even though they supposedly have "0 wins." One other thing I noticed is the difficulty of the CPU opponents in training mode seems to be a bit off, as a level 3 bot is exponentially more difficult to beat than a level 2 bot. A level 3 bot shouldn't feel like facing a low-level pro.

Honestly my biggest problem is the only visual options of the piece appearances / themes are 1. Traditional japanese pieces which can be difficult for me to use... Or 2. the very boring basic Roman letters, which I don't like at all, makes the game look and feel very boring. This needs pieces for a western player such as me to enjoy the look of. Basic letters are more for word games to me, I don't like it. I notice many japanese programs do this... Please offer visual pieces.

You have 3 free online play and then you need to wait or pay. I hate this type of mechanics and in my opinion must be removed (making online free for all and without waitings). Moreover the CPU is really slow (especially in higher levels) and the English translation must be improved. I don't recommend it.

The game has been a lot of fun for me. I like how it has options for helping you understand the game as you play. It's all in English (though you can tell the translation is janky in a few places) so you can know what is going on. Ads are not very intrusive. So you can focus on the game. If I had one gripe, it would be that the multiplayer would be more active. It doesn't seem like there are other people who play this game in my area.

Great game. Mechanics are good and challenging. Loses a star because its model of charging for hints and undos is annoying, especially when learning the game.

there is only two problems. 1-i can only play 3 times online in a day. 2-there is no something like stockfish. i want to see my mistakes when i playing against cpu. nevertheless its a good application to play shogi. but if they solve this 2 problems i'll give 5 stars *****

Is good, but It is slow to start the application, not sure if is my phone though. Also playing online with friends can be improved (I think) but thanks for the game anyway, is the best I have seen so far.

nice. weak engines perfect for beginners. also good tusme puzzles. however i spotted a disturbing bug. the bot moved a lance to my back rank and did not promote. fix

So far this game plays perfectly, which is something I'm glad about because I love Shogi and having access to a well made portable version of the game that's available at a few screen taps is about as much as a person could ask for.

Shogi is not bad as a game, this app quite helps the beginner grasp the fundamentals of the pieces and the main structure of the game. I was curious about shogi, and my curiousity is satisfied.

Its a great game... the bots taking time makes it feel a actual game with a person thinking the steps thru and gives you time to plan few steps ahead. Match making is a little off... I feel like most players are smurf...

Great app overall really enjoyable for beginners, but please do add the simpler version of the appearance of pieces for beginners also

Pretty good, but sometimes the CPU gets stuck and can take up to 15 minutes to make a move.

I am still just learning the game. For one round of paly, with simple options in settings.

Mpa. Jan 28, 2022

The computer opponent takes several minutes to make moves. This would be fun but you as the player are just stuck there. You can't plan out moves watch hint videos, nothing. Fix this.

Hard to learn as a North American at first, just learning as you go. Still fun.

Not necessarily for English speaking players, certainly. Otherwise, not a terrible app I suppose!

It looks like a pretty cool app but... Please get a translator... The English translation is so bad I can't understand anything as a complete begginer... I tried using the tutorial to learn the game but all it did was cause even more confusion.

Downloaded to beat Haruka in Yakuza 3, did it in 29 turns. Used it for all other shogi challenges in the series, works every time :D

The game is simplistic at first glance, but it is anything but when playing. CPU is easy in the beginning, but online that's this games nightmare mode. I have also noticed that the Japanese dominate the leaderboards. All in all it's a great Shogi app. I am sill going to give it five, since their are ways to "pay to win" by undoing moves. But, that adds another layer of difficulty and strategy.

Great app for realistic tsume drawn from real games, unlike the ones you see that are clearly constructed, and thus not great for shogi intuition. My only complaint is that it takes a long time to move to the next puzzle. I do not want to wait for the slow animation and then click a button. As soon as I solve a tsume, I would rather like it to move immediately to the next. No button presses, no slow animation.

I love Shogi. My only problems with the game is that the CPU takes way too long to play a move. Its almost as if its an actual person that thinks a lot. I was waiting around 1 or 2 minutes each time it had to make a move. Also the CPU is programmed too hard. I just played against a level 1 for about half an hour and it kept countering all of my plays. This might be because Im new at the game but I think level 1 should be a lot easier to beat. Overall a great game, besides the 2 flaws I found.

pretty good app. no alternate language board versions, but that's something you can get past with time. It's definitely good if you want to learn, because it makes you adapt. Only just beat level 1 AI. Customizable avatars and online play against real people. All the top players are Japanese though (which makes sense). They also give you a bunch of those checkmate puzzle things for free. Overall loving this app.

Nice Shogi experience. Gameplay is smooth, ads are small and hardly noticable. Tutorial mode, which highlights the possible movements is helpful to a new learner such as myself. My only complaint is that the computer-player's movements happen in a blink. It can be difficult sometimes to see what move your opponent made. However, this can be solved with vigilience, something I'm still learning. Very fun! Enjoying the app a lot!!

Positives: -The app is smooth. -Quick to find matches in my experience. -Has multiple levels of AI with handicaps if you want them. Cons: -The English is not perfect, however its perfectly understandable. Only a con if youre a stickler. - You can only play 3 free matches before you have to wait or spend money. This is the only thing bringing it down to 3 stars for me. A few more free games would help a ton. I understand you gotta make money somewhere. Maybe cosmetics?

Recurring subscription fees to bleed customers dry ad infinitum, without any possibility to buy the software once and for all to get rid of the pestering advertisements. On top of that, customization still requires additional purchases. To such a manifestation of greed, there can only be one answer: uninstalling.

I really like this game! A friend recommended it to me so I installed, and now I even prefer shogi to regular chess! The graphics are nice too and the game is nearly ad free. The online game isn't ideal, but personally I play offline most of the time. The only thing I'd want to improve is that there's no way to save the game to resume playing.

◆ Online games Since it is an online battleground where there are many beginners more than anywhere, it is the environment that makes it easiest to start the most online game. this description is a lie. you need to at least able to master lv3 and able to beat lv4 easily on practice mode if you don't want to be "bullied" at online, if not you won't even know how you lose. but other than that this game is great. the practice is really helpful and fun, while the puzzle challenge is interesting.
