Shortcut To URL

This app supports to create a shortcut to the URL.It can create a shortcut without using a bookmark from default browser. Also this app can receive a text that includes URLs.How to use:1. Opens the website which wants to create shortcut by a default browser. 2. Opens this app from Menu→More→Share page→Share via→"Shortcut To URL". URL will be filled automatically.3. Shortcut will be created on the home by inputting "Name" and pressing "OK" button.Specifications and Limitations:
* Any protocol will be accepted.
* Creation of shortcut may fail when center of the home screen doesn't have any space.
* "Name" is not filled automatically because a browser will pass to this app only the URL. Also I don't want to add internet access permission to this app.

One of, if not thee most, useful productivity app that I have installed on my phone. Does exactly like what is says on the tin. I use if to add links to favourite YouTube videos that my kid likes to watch every day, my workout videos, daily hangout meetings, etc. Ad Free and very functional.

Nice and easy, even for sop url. For future updates may be considering to select which application will open particularly shortcut. For now works, app it's selected by the system and sop url is opened by sopcast (soptohttp). Well done.

Helps me create links that can't be made otherwise. An essential app. Thanks to the developer! 👍

I don't want to be forced to create the link on Home rather optionally create it to a file.url

This would be worth 5 stars+ if we could pick the icon, any image of our choice on our phone, + not be forced to use icons from only the apps installed, I agree (no internet access required for that). Giving it a 4 for "Liked It" instead of a 3 for "It's OK", which is its classification as it actually stands now with this severe limitation. Be glad to give it 5 stars if and when that functionality is provided.

Excellent, but this will perfect if we can choose the icon from the gallery or search from the web.

In Marshmallow, you can no longer create a shortcut to a bookmark in Chrome. This app overcomes that issue. Would give 5 Stars if the icon was able to be changed on the shortcut

Works as described, and no unnecessary permissions. Can't understand why icon selection is from downloaded app icons?? Would be great if icon could be selected from gallery - I want to use an icon that refers to the web page. UPDATE: Discovered 'Pinternet', similar app, but which adds website's favicon as shortcut icon.

I tried Url Shortcut, but it doesn't even download correctly. Shortcut To URL works like a charm.

Enz. M. Apr 11, 2017

It would be nice if the default icon were retrieved from the favicon of the site pointed by the URL, as it happens with the shortcuts created through most browsers.

I agree with other comments, why not just give heap of buttons like another app has, works well, I would pay for this addition.

Has. A. May 15, 2016

It would be a huge convenience to use a url to an image to grab that image as icon of that shortcut. That way website's or web app's own logo/icon may be used.

I don't have enough memory for the update for Google chrome to make shortcuts, so I was looking everywhere. I finally found a worthy app. XD

Years old, light and very useful. Especially in the face that Google and Chrome keep breaking the generic bookmarks widget. That policy makes this old tidbit highly valuable. Hence the five stars despite the weak UI.

You can change the icon to a custom one but after you create it first (depending on your launcher) long press the icon and select the image to add a new icon. I did this for Facebook.

Mu only critical point would be the icon that you can use. The app will only use icons from a presently installed applucation. The work-round is to install an app that you have no intention if using, but has an appropriate icon, purloin the icon and then uninstall it!

Working like charm! For example: i found good playlist on YouTube and just hit Share and choose this app. I have a shortcut.

Tys. C. Oct 29, 2015

Minimal permissions, gets the job done without fuss, even letting me use icons from existing apps. Perfect!

Simple and straight forward, works great. Yes, ability to create your own icon would make developer a rock star. Still 5 stars for going extra mile in not requiring permissions.
