An app with lots of great features for organizing your schoolwork, combining a calendar view with the ability to split your workload over time and with a unique way to visualize upcoming tasks (cushion view). Just know that you can't cancel the subscription through the play store even though it says you can, you have to do it on the website. But I just shot them and email and they resolved everything in just a few minutes! Even though in the end it was not for me, I definitely recommend trying it, and I'm interested in seeing how the app will improve in the future.
This app is extremely useful. I have been using this app since a long time and it has helped me a lot. I am a school student and it helps me to manage my school work really efficiently. The only draw back I noticed was that you cannot add exams which afe an important part of student life. I hope the developers will add the option to add exams. Also the app freezes a bit on the web. Hope you can fix that. Thank you so much for creating such an assisting app. 👍🤗🤗
I've tried a huge number of apps, as well as online and offline planners and I am so happy I found Shovel. Studying online and not having specific class times means I need to be able to see all of my work and life commitments in one place to see where I can fit in study. It is visually appealing on both phone and desktop and it's really easy to use. I love it.
This is a near-perfect planning tool for college students! It has everything: tasks, events, courses, and it lets you calculate how much time you have left. This makes it way easier to schedule things for your labs, etc. than google calendar. You can duplicate tasks, and basically everything you can do on calendar or todoist. This is an amazing tool, and I love it. I have just a few complaints: 1. The mobile app is not that great. It definitely works, but a lot of the UI is clunky, and sometimes I want to swipe but it forces you to tap. It thinks you move things when you are just trying to tap on them, and v.va. 2. There is no desktop app. There's a good alternative with PWA (it lets you run the website as if it were an app), but you need to have Google Chrome for that. It would have been nice if they could have just done something with electron, even though it's basically the same thing. I wish I could have used firefox, but you need Chrome for the PWA functionality. 3. There is no way to put an event for a class like "bring x to class" as not a task. They say they are working on it though. TL:DR. Definitely worth the cheap price if you are going to use it ! Would recommend.
Literally the best planner ever. I could not be more thankful to have come across Shovel. It is seriously so incredibly perfect. It takes some time to input everything from all your syllabi for the whole semester, but once you do, my gosh it is worth it. Let me tell you, you won't miss an assignment or quiz the entire semester. You can even start a timer when you do reading so you know exactly how long each page takes on average per textbook so reading assignments aren't so daunting.
I am in the 14 days *free* trial, but apparently, they charged my card with rm4.49. This is so confusing but I still try to give it a go. Then, after i use the web and app version for some time, I see a huge problem. It lags very often although I have a good internet connection. This is very dissapointing. Whenever i drag a task into the calendar, it took some time to be created. It is also quite complicated and not user-friendly. I'd rather use a good ol' google calendar if this continues.
I know that this app is just an extension of the website and all, but I do find it annoying that I can't check my schedule offline. I was recently left with no internet for about 4 days and wasn't able to see deadlines and events I needed to attend. Otherwise 10/10 app! The creators take into consideration the comments and are constantly improving the app to make it better!
Few days into the trial and super impressed. First calendar app I've used that caters directly to the extremely busy college student. I can finally manage my schoolwork, extracurriculars, time with family and friends, etc. all in one place! I'm actually excited to plan my week (as opposed to previously dreading) thanks to the "gamified" planning tool that rewards being intentional with your time. I have a very long academic career ahead of me, and Shovel has made planning for success super easy.
I love the Shovel planner! It helps me organize and feel more accountable for my school work. I didn't give it a full 5/5 because I find the app a little difficult to use sometimes, especially since it doesn't rotate horizontally on the screen when I'm on my tablet. I generally use the online website more than the app (I'm enjoying the newest update), but for a quick look at assignments I'll use the app.
This is such a useful tool for anyone who has a lot of commitments but feel like there's barely any time on their hands. I attend college and this app is an absolute game-changer when it comes to organization and time management. The layout is aesthetically pleasing and though it's a little intimidating at first, using it becomes second nature after a while.
Honestly don't understand all the bad reviews. Amazing app, yeah it's not free but the amount of work people put in this, it's just not supposed to be free. It's just perfect, well thought, and the support is incredible. If you can afford it, get it. It's impossible to regret it. It just does what it tells you it'll do. And if you have a problem you can send a message really easily and they'll respond pretty fast. In fact, fastest support I've ever seen in any other company or service. - Lizzie
I haven't actually rated or reviewed much apps but I'll do it today. Shovel is one of the best apps that helps me during my college studies. It has the most amazing UI/UX design that helps students learn to organize their study plans. If anyone ever needs an agenda to organize their school studies, I'd ask you to please check shovel out!
Wanted to update the plan that I currently have, but the shovel website the doesn't let me. I have tried with two different cards and it keeps saying "something is wrong, try again later" and to check with my bank. Nothing is wrong with the cards, so the problem must be on your end. The best school planner out there. I use the website to do my initial semester task dump; then I use both the website and app. I have horrible ADHD, and simply cannot filter, prioritize, and plan the way Shovel's algorithm does. My brain crashes just looking at a todo list- Shovel is the brain I wish I had. It guides me through planning based on how much time I have vs how many hours each task will need to be completed by the due date. I just select study time slots and fill them with task time.
I love it. Its really convinent and fun - I purchased the whole version too. Hope it's a good investment. On the phone app, would it be possible if u can let the timing feature to be avaliable on the daily study period planning page too. So u can time while u finish a task.
Whenever I open the app in the mobile phone and tablet , it say that email and password are not in correct combinations and never let me login ! I was really thinking about using the paid version but what's the use of it if I can't use it on phone and tablet which is easier to access than computer
This app is phenomenonal and support staff is very kind and always ready to help. I was facing some problem with payment and they readily helped me through. If you're looking for a time management app or Time table, then SHOVEL (this app) is best in the business. Love it.😍
I am not truly satisfied with the app. I tried to log in but it doesn't let me. Even sending the recovery link to my email, the link does not work. I tried using a different email to sign up and it doesn't work either. ☹
The app launches very slowly. And it sometimes doesn't launch at all! Very frustrated that I have to always uninstall it and reinstall it to be able to get through the login page.
Great Planner. See a lot of potential in it. It would be great if you add some more features like a Pomodoro timer and maybe add videos in as a task category. Widgets would be great also.
Requires to have an account in their paid web-app. Disappointed, couldn't even have a trial. | If there is indeed a possible trial, then it should have been explicit at the app (+have a guide to attract clients). My review represents my experience, which is disappointment: not even 2sec after I opened the app, I was told that the app was only for the ones who had an account in the paid web-app (no links) - if this is different than what your programmed I don't know, that's what I experienced...
I've used the web app and I couldn't get enough of it, so now I have the app downloaded. The new update looks great and I'm eagerly waiting for the update on the web app too :) The app takes much shorter to load than it used to, which is an amazing plus as well! It's a nice app compared to others. It's easy to use and is a good planner for studies. Those who want to manage their time and work, I will suggest to use this app. But in terms of timer, If it had a pomodoro timer and white noise, I would Have been given 5 stars. I hope thapp maker will add these details into them.Rest of it is okay Thanks~~
Not recommended Total waste of money. What can done in this app can be done in a simple excel spreadsheet or notion. They don't have free trial. If still want to buy try for one month and decide for you self.
Great app for organising school! Customer service is also great. It would be nice to have an alternative to the GPA calculator for users from other countries too - do you think you could do an A-level system? Love the app so much!!!
Not gonna lie, I love your interface design (web, can't access in app). And i have tried a dozen other apps. But you could give some functions free rather than giving 15 day trial.. Also, not able to login to the app, it keeps roatating
Every student needs this app! The developers are completely devoted to making Shovel the best it can possibly be - I had some questions/comments and they contacted me just now for a call! Not only did they discuss everything with me in depth so they can improve the user experience, but they also gave me specific advice for my studying! These guys are serious about their work, so any concerns you have, they actively want to discuss with you!
Why can't you do your planning on your phone? We downloading the app thinking it's for phones, we are literally wasting our data because some of us do not have computers or tablets. Please make a plan about this and stop manipulating people into downloading the app knowing very well that it does not work on mobile phones.
This is my first year of college, and I first started using Shovel at the beginning of my first semester (I am currently beginning my second semester). I tried the free trial and loved it enough to pay for a lifetime subscription, $47 is not bad for all the features and I figure that money will go toward making the app even better! There's not enough room in this review box to say everything I like about Shovel, but it has been really awesome and unlike any planner I've ever used. :)
