Shruti also provides reference tones. Sa (Shadjam), Ma1 (Suddha Madhyamam) and Pa (Panchamam) for all katta (aka key, shruti or mane) in four sthayis are in-built. If you need other swarams, they are available through an inapp purchase. The reference tones provided are clear and mathematically accurate for Carnatic music.
You can use it to tune any musical instrument: Violin, Veena, Tambura, Mridangam, Mandolin, Chitraveena, Flute and even Guitar. Vocalists can also use the reference tones for practice and to check their intonation as well.

FAQ === WHY DO YOU NEED MICROPHONE / RECORD AUDIO PERMISSION?To be able to detect and show you the swarams, the app needs to listen to your singing or playing through your device's microphone. This requires microphone permission, sometimes referred as Record Audio permission.
HOW DO I USE THE APP? 1. Set your kattai / shruti / mane first through the orange circular button. 2. Just sing or play, the app will show you which swaram. If you are close to a swaram, it will indicate below the swaram button. Swaram button will animate once you sing or play that swaram perfectly.3. If you want to hear, how the swaram sounds like in the selected kattai, tap the swaram button. You can stop it by tapping again.
IS THIS A SHRUTI BOX?No. It is a tuner app. It is meant to help tuning of instruments accurately. Vocalists can also check their singing accuracy.
I AM SAYING 'Sa', BUT IT IS NOT SHOWING 'Sa'? This app does pitch recognition; but will not consider the words. So if your singing matches the frequency of Sa swaram, it will show. Of course, first you should set your kattai / shruti / mane correctly.
WHEN I PLAY NOTE C ON MY KEYBOARD, THIS APP DOES NOT SHOW 'Sa'? Note C on keyboards corresponds to 'Sa' in kattai 1. So first set the kattai to 1, then try. It will work as expected.
WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY "PURE" CARNATIC SWARA STHANAS? The frequency ratios of Carnatic swarams are different from Western Equal temperament (used in Keyboards and Harmoniums). Shruti Carnatic Tuner is based on authentic frequency ratios of Carnatic music. This is what we mean when we say Pure carnatic swara sthanas.
WHERE ARE THE OTHER NOTES? ONLY SA, MA1, PA ARE PROVIDED.These swarams are sufficient for tuning most instruments. All other swarams are provided as an optional premium feature.

Good app. But expected more for the price. They do not have higher/lower notes detector, if it has, found no explanation or any description on the app. Would have been good if we could choose the different instruments while setting the shruthi instead of the annoying the noise set now.
Congratulation to the team behind this app. Its a great app. The only thing I would like to get added would be a little bit in the UI for Shruthi Selection screen is to have an equivalent label of each Shruthi for the western world (with my limited understanding), where it is referred as Pitch and is in terms of C, C#(or Dflat), D, D# etc. Having my basics in Carnatic , I am having a bit difficulty in exchanging this musical vocabulary between 'katta' to the equivalent in terms of C, C# etc. Probably something i have to figureout. But would like to see this in the app too. A nice to have feature for your next release. Kudos and Pranaams to the whole team
It's a wonderful app 😊 I used to have problem singing different swaras and maintaining Shruthi but through this app I improved ALOT!! Thank you so much! It's the best app to improve the skill in music! And it is very sensitive even with the sound of fan it reacts with slightest movements it doesn't miss a swaram that I sing!
I'm learning Carnatic vocal music and I calibrate my voice with this app for every class, very useful for beginners who depend on sources other than their teacher to improve themselves. The full app purchase was worth it!
If you are violin player(Carnatic or Hindustani) this app is best source to tune and guide finger positions.. If you are learning vocal this app is must to know and practice notes on your scale... The app is very good, but the payment is a fraud. They have asked for premium membership and I have paid on 6th Jan. Now it is asking for payment again and now with increased amount.

Sometimes it feels too delicate for recognizing pitch. It fixes itself when I restart the app
I was totally replying on this app for my carnatic music practice. My phone got updated and now the app doesn't open at all.. I'm using a one plus 6.. Pls can you help fix this.. I feel very handicapped without this app.. Even unlocked all swaras by paying.. Unfortunately unable to use it now.. Pls can u help

Thank you for giving us this app. This app is so usefull that it just changed my life. If any one wsnt to be master in notes this app is ultimate. I am highly recommending this app to every Indian classical musicians.
Really good app. Worth the price. The only suggestion I have would be a function to fix base frequency as a value rather than in cents. Can you publish the ratios used? Hooe this is not equal tempered

Nice App. Have been looking for similar app with 2 options i.e., sing & detect frequency and play the swarasthana by app.. Good utility for beginners or strugglers with swarasthanas.. I have unlocked all featres.

I have finding a perfect app before but now i am happy to use this app. This app made me energized to play violin again. Good application. But if it is cheaper then some poor student can be benefited like me😊
Does the job it is meant for. Free version has only Sa and Pa to match with your kattai. Manageable app for those with swarasthana knowledge.... For beginners, either get the full version by paying or use a shruti box. Blindly practising in free version by matching only Sa n Pa is dangerous for beginners!
This is a very good app for singing in correct swarasthanas. My son learning carnatic music.this app is very useful to him. But I give only 5 stars because this app sometimes stuck.please improve it.
I tried multiple apps. This was the only one with which I was able to tune my violin successfully.
I have been working on to fix shruti on my veena, this app helped me to make it a simple job. It is wonderful and easy to use.
Perfect. Initially had a Problem while trying to adjust the sruti of instrument . It seemed , some times it listened to every sound . . even the car and bike on the road, the sound of the rain drops. .. . Now after being used to the app dont have this problem. Guess it was a learning issue about how to use it properly Perfect for that purpose .....Also you can select ur own voice sruti and practice the swara sthaana s using the app, by singing along with each note and perfecting them
