No microphone controls (like de-essing). No balance control, which is pretty basic. Loses connection to the headphones even when they're sitting right beside and powered by USB. Refuses to update firmware even when the headphones have mains power. App icon name, "Play" is ridiculously generic. Etc. Could generally be thought through more, and more flexible at this price range.

Wish I bought these sooner. Being able to turn on the mic to hear the environment is such a nice feature. Only wish is that they could go just a tad louder when needed. I don't use the in app player so can't comment on those problems but I have had zero issues with the rest of the app including firmware updates on my pixel 6 pro

Doesn't really work. The equalizer is good, but it won't let me make playlists, keeps crashing, some songs will start to play and then it crashes again. Good headphones, bad app.

Works really well and great control over earphone functionality. For example you can choose the actions that each button on the earphone does. You can make them work as play/pause, turn environment mode on/off. You can define if that should happen with a single tap or a double tap or even triple, etc. Really nice! And I like the feature that automatically turns on environment mode when I pause music. I'm very surprised to see such high quality software from a non software company!

Love it! This is an intuitive app with features that apps for similar headphones are lacking. Easy to navigate. Excellent graphic equaliser options, and great to be able to adjust the ANC level. In fact you can tweak all sorts of things in the app like LED behaviours. I've got Shure's fantastic new AONIC 40 headphones and along with this app they're brilliant. PS to developers: it would be helpful if it showed as 'Shure Play' in app list rather than just 'Play'. Also, a little widget please!

The app works well. It's great for setting up AONIC 50 headphones. I can't understand the negative reviews. It works as described on new hardware.

This app does not maintain connection to AONIC 50s for more than two or three seconds. (Tested with two pairs of aonic 50). This prevents the app from updating headset firmware. Support instructed me to factory reset then re-pair to Bluetooth devices, which has been done with both headsets... There must be an issue with the app interface over Bluetooth as this is repeat behaviour on two headsets. AONIC 50s paired easily with PC and multi point connected with Android (v12) phone. Well Shure?

Amazing, just amazing high clean quality music, wow 😃👌 As far highest quality sound goes, this app has just become my gold standard 👏👏👏 Now you just need to do something about the playing screen, it's embarrassingly ugly. Surely full screen album cover would make all the different, with some visualisation colour spectrum bars, please 🙏🙏🙏🙏

The firmware update worked the first time! Will update this review if I run into problems, but so far I'm happy with the app.

As noted by many other users, this app is borderline useless. Tried updating the firmware on my headphones from two different Android phones, both of which failed repeatedly. Ended up using an iPad to complete the upgrade, which worked first time. The equilizer would be a great benefit if it didn't require manually-loaded audio files. All in all this app is a complete disappointment.

Shure is the best product for listening via Bluetooth or lanyard. The sound can be tailored to your individual preference. Sweet treble and Rich Bass either or.

I have the Shure Aonic 50. I was initially very excited about them. When I first turned them on the sound quality was amazing... A few hours later I turn them on again, and the sound quality was awful. I mean totally awful. The sound was muffled. The music was in the back ground, the voice sounded like the artist was in a tunnel. Everytime I turn them on this happens for about an hour or two. I reset and hard reset my phone. I am really unhappy. I am stuck with these for 299.00.

Now that I have it working I can post an review. The only reason I gave 4 stars and not 5 is because I wish it had a 10 band EQ. I know there is hardly any free apps that offer that but was hoping being from Shure it would have that. Other then that it's a good app. Had problems with it crashing whenever I opened it at first but it's working now. Would also like support for Android auto to make it easier to use while in the car.

The app works fine but it's not very useful after you adjust your environmental mode and ANC settings. EQ works only on playback through the app for example. It has zero effect on anything played outside of it. And since this playback works only on local files it makes it useless with majority of streaming services. After initial setup and updating the firmware there is no reason to keep this app on my phone right now.

I liked this app until the most recent update. It opens with a screen asking me to sync a shure device to it which is annoying. It'll randomly delete my playlists and recently it started separating the albums into multiple albums. I like this app for the eq and vocal control. Shure usually makes pretty solid products, but until these bugs are fixed I'll probably end up uninstalling and finding something else

I only downloaded this app to see if a firmware update would fix my TW1 wireless adapters before I send them back for a refund. So far I haven't been able to. The app generally can't detect that the headphones are connected, and when it does it skips back to the "no device connected" screen before I can hit the update firmware button. I've restarted my phone and delete and reinstalled the app and nothing helps.

Easier to use. I like the volume on the screen. Sounds good but must improve its parametric equalizer. The album art must support 2000 x 2000 resolution. Album art appears turbid even though i tagged 2000 x 2000 resolution. Better remove the left and right album art on the screen to make more elegant as single album art on the screen when playing is enough.

Navigating the features takes getting used to but once you figure it out it's pretty straightforward. Some complain of a lack of a volume button however, it actually does have one. One caveat is that whatever you have selected from the app will be the default if you use another device that does not support the app. For instance if you have environment mode enabled while on your cellphone and then switch to your music player i.e. Astell&Kern then the environment mode will be active.

Half decent app, but firmware update 0.5.9.0 made things worse. It now cuts out audio when pressing the back, home, and minimize buttons, and also changing apps. The media buttons on the headphones no longer work unless you open then original media app and spam-press pause and play a bunch of times, and this must be done every time a new song comes on.

I downloaded this to configure my Shure TW1 wireless adapter. The adapter is great so far, but the app needs work. If I disconnect and reconnect the TW1, the app insists no Shure products are connected until I press the recents key, swipe it away and start it again. Then it works again. I also kinda wish the EQ applied to sound played from all apps, not just the internal music player. Fix the "no Shure devices detected" issue and I'm a happy camper.

It's a great music player for such a well known company! But I do hope the eq can have some changes to it like having a high & low pass filter not just a high & low shelf. and if possibly with some fx as well like reverb, delay, etc. with adjustable parameters (like wet/dry mix, predelay, decay, high & low cut and so on) those would be quite amazing to see on this app 😃

Mik. B. Dec 10, 2021

The EQ now works outside the app, which is great, but this is spoiled by the fact that it doesn't work under LDAC. Then, LDAC is chosen by most Android devices as default HD codec, which makes all other codecs supported by Aonic 50 basically useless - unless you activate them manually via developer options every time. Also it would more intuitive if EQ settings were greyed out when EQ is off; furthermore, the EQ toggle remains in off position even if it is switched on by using the manual mode.

Failed after installing left ear bud update. Thought ok well. Maybe they can detect that the left one is already up to do date and not go throught the painfully slow update process for the left one first again. It did not. You also can't connect just the un updated earbud either since the app forces both to be connected to update one of them. So now I only have 1 up to date earbud since the app fails and never gets to the second one. Giving the update a third try. Might update to 2 stars after

Could be computable with other apps like Spotify. Equilizer is great and functional but ultimately useless if you can't pair it with apps

Potent hi-res Player. I use it on Blon BL03 and Bayerdynamic Byron BTA earphones connected to Lg V30+. There is a noticeable difference in audio output with the 'Loudness' eq setting... this eq preset almost works as an amplifier for Bluetooth earphones. It helps in driving the Byron BTA to its full power which I was unable to do using any other player and it always sounded muffled and underpowered. The clarity and separation is enhanced. Overall a very fulfilling audio experience. 5 stars!

Horrible. Waste. Of. Time. BAD ENOUGH ON AN APPLE DEVICE! MUCH WORSE ON AN ANDROID! Screen does NOT get past the "Attention" on picking the right earphone model. FREEZES! CRASHES! LOCKS UP! CAN'T EXIT! Uninstalled & reinstalled app SEVERAL times. NOT a novice. Will send back earphones to Shure for a refund because of it. Useless without app!!!! STOP just thanking people for their feedback and DO something about all the problems!!! Bose Connect AND Bang & Olufsen better apps. Stick with them!!!

The. P. Jul 16, 2020

The EQ needs to apply to everything, not just the files uploaded through the app. This would have been the one useful feature of this app, but it's practically useless without it. I can adjust all other settings on the headphones themselves.
