VR headsets like the Google Cardboard, Durovis Dive or Eyedak vrAse are giving us new ways to experience games, however it seems that no one is thinking about new ways to experience movies and videos. By utilizing their smartphones and a compatible headset everyone can have a screen at low cost, which is perceived as bigger than a cinema screen.
The Side-By-Side Video Player enables you to have this cinema-like experience wherever you want by playing your plain old videos side by side, so they can be watch with a VR headset. Just open any compatible video file directly from your device or stream videos via the web. While there are other "cinema experience" apps for Android, our solution is the only one available, which focus on delivering the highest video quality and usability by abstaining from VR cinema environments.
Some of the Side-By-Side Video Player's features are:
- Play regular videos or movies side-by-side
- Play webstreams (which can be started out of a browser)
- Play videos with no restriction to resolution (as long as your hardware can handle it)
- Fullscreen for a high degree of immersion
- Zoom in and out of videos in order to find a comfortable setting
Restrictions/How-to use:
- To watch a video with the Side-By-Side Video Player open a compatible video file through a file browser of your choice (if it doesn't work, try ES File Explorer)
- This app can't be started by itself and does not show up in the app drawer!
- The Side-By-Side Video Player plays regular 2D videos in a 2D fashion. There is no 3D effect and currently there is no intent to make the app play 3D videos or create a 3D effect

Can't give a honest review on something that won't work. Requires you to have a file explorer (this app recommends es file explorer). I get a blank screen, then notification stating sbs video has stopped. Tried restarting the phone and still nothing. Tried a few different video files from phone and memory card couldn't get it to work.
This app worked great on my old phone, but I upgraded and now it does not work for me. I haven't found an app that has the very handy zoom function this has, I will miss this app. Update,: it does work on my new phone (nokia 6.1) I just had to give it permission to acces files
Straight up does not work for the files im trying to play, even tried opening them with es file explorer.
Would of given 5 stars but the app keeps cutting in when I use the Internet then saying something went wrong and taking me back to my home screen, I'm having to unistall it to use the Internet and reinstall it when I watch a film.
I was really hoping that this app worked on my phone but every time I clicked on the video to open up it said that the app stopped working.
This app should have a premium paid version with no ads. I would probably buy it if it existed. As it is now, I have simply stopped using the app altogether because the ads never disappear, and ruin the experience. Pity. It could have been good.
Cant open any movies no matter what file extension, tha application just crashes. Waste of time.
Simply refuses to start after chosing it in ES explorer...then simply a prompt of sending report or not...diasapointing
Why do you need the Cardboard. The reason people would want a screen splitter is because their phones can't install Cardboard. Sad..

Really great didn’t think it would work after reading all the negative reviews! ! But the app worked straight away and the 3d video looks amazing hours of fun and it's totally free :)
It used to work great, but now crashes immediately on my S5 on Mashmallow 6.0.1.
Used to work perfectly and was my go to side by side but doesn't work any longer.

Only tells you to download something that plays sbs. Thanks for wasting my time.
Crashes on every attempt to use it! Mp4, avi, and mkv will not play when I click on any of the video files. Stops working EVERY time!
Whenever i play video from this player than it says the video plaver has stopped working
Um..... I really don't get it. I got the app, loaded it up and there was a white screen and it says to get Google cardboard. I don't know what it means but i couldn't get passed the introduction.
Found 8 different file formats. Stopped every time

When opening video with an external app from within some browsers, eg Firefox, SBS Player is available when the URL is http but not https. Is it possible to do something? Great app. Can you please supply a full list of formats supported. Does it support .avi? If not, will it in the future?
