The app experience is mostly positive. Obvious issue is having to go through the browser version to download job detail files. E-cal support would be a nice feature to make it easier to plan your life around active shifts.
Still unable to view or download attachments Edit: has nothing to do with what you said. Do you think EVERY pdf file for example from EVERYONE is somehow incompatible? The person/team who programmed the app is incompetent.
With an unsteady start viewing job ads on the website, I was able to see and apply by accessing via email notifications. It's almost like a secret club where you have to be invited to get in. You can't just go the the site and browse ads. Also there needs to be a 15km option in the Where I Want to Work - Distance settings. 10km to 20km is a massive jump. Added a star for the thoughtful response and another for the email links. Thanks.
Job is not just a way to earn money. for many people it is hope, it is to feel useful, it is to find new friends, to build network. It is hard for new comers to find a job due to lack of network. but sidekicker aims equal opportunity for everyone. I am a professional engineer now. but when I came to Australia it was hard for me to find a job. I struggled to pay my expenses. all of a sudden I found sidekicker in gumtree and doors were opened one by one. Thanks sidekicker.
They never pay the over time and public holiday pay correctly. You always have to write back to them and make them understand so that you get paid for the following week. This has happened to me many times.
The app is pore, it has a very basic limited menu system, not really any way of showing qualifications and sorting jobs by those qualifications. I can't search for any types of jobs or filter them in a way that is useful like distance or type of work and for some reason the website now only says use the app and has no functionality at all. To add to it although I just reinstalled the latest version my app looks nothing like the example pictures here.
The app isn't very useful for me. The file for a postion fails to download. I thought an update would fix this problem. Will uninstall app and use the Web. Also, the data sorting is not up to scratch for an app in this era. There should be more options.
Great app, great staff never had any issue with them always so fast and easy to deal with, will be so sad now I have to stop using them
Not a good way to get a job. App is buggy and lags a lot. As soon as a job is uploaded it gets snapped up and is gone before the app has a chance to even show you the job. I recieve email notifications for new jobs asking to me open the app, I open the app and there are no jobs displayed. Ridiculous.
You have to use This app to understand it and even then it's by trial and error. I would like the app on my computer to search instead of the phone app, but it doesn't have a desktop version. It doesn't allow you to search for jobs, even though it has a filter saying by company name. that lists employers alphabetically. I am not sure if all roles are on here, but I know my local Council has some roles on there, but I can't see them. I have updated my preferences to ask for within 15 km, so I only get emailed those, but I can be shown all placements. There is no part time it seems, it's full time or nothing, they could improve the days you're available by saying part time, instead of monday to Friday (or weekends). There's no income on roles. I will keep trying to figure it out. The chat function is only enabled in business hours.
Update: since my previous review the job opportunities have started showing up in the app which I can now show my interest in. I like that the app is easy to use and hope that more and more opportunities become available. >> Original: I'm getting emails from Sidekicker telling me I have job opportunities which I can only view if I download the app. Well I've downloaded the app and the opportunities are not on there and I have no way to access them. It's a very frustrating experience.
Im receiving email notifications but the app itself is no longer notifying me when a job is posted. Have uninstalled, and have checked all settings. The app itself has an error. Started about 3 weeks ago. Very annoying cause I'm missing jobs.
The word document of the job ads doesn't open on Android phone. And it takes too long when clicking "pass" on a job. Takes a good 5-10 seconds instead of being instant. I've also edited my profile to say I'm only available weekends and it keeps showing me full time work during weekdays
Frankly it's a waste of time. Receive a notification there's a job, open the app immediately (even almost while the notification sound is still playing) and it's already gone somehow. Obviously some receive the notification before others.
Downloaded this to find to work as I lost my job with the Corona virus. After signing up and logging in, I only saw 5 job opportunities. Applied for some but never got a reply. A week after, there have been no other jobs. Got an email about a job, clicked on the link which to me to a page, which said I had to download the app (which I had done) It also said the job is only available in the app. But I couldn't find it in the app. Support team is nice, unfortunately couldn't do anything to help me
This app is rubbish. Sorting doesn't work for passed, can't download any files, no option to star or favourite, no option to change desired amount of working hours/type of work (e.g. full time/part time), no search function. Absolute trash
Rubbish app, doesnt let you search for jobs. opportunities are e mailed but cant find them in the app. cant use the search buttons. Cant search by company name. I can only see the same five results every day with no option to change them. receive mails about opportunities but when i follow the link it tells me the opportunity no longer exists even when i go to the link instantly. All up a total wast of time. About to uninstall (again) but for the final time. 1 star is the lowest i can go which.
This app can limit the unknown applications and make it easier for employers to choose the ones who they know they want to hire. You don't have control over your applications and the screen will disappear randomly and your profile would not add those applications that you applied through your PC into your applied section in your profile (only mobile applications are matters apparently)
This is a great app and has been a a god send during 2020. Signing up is a process of it you have to remember that this is for due diligence. You can pick and choose the work and the shifts that fit your situation and schedule. I owning but positive things to say hear.
The app is pretty useless. A lot of buttons just take you to the website, which is not at all optimised for mobile. Save yourself a headache and just use the website on a computer if you can.
Great employer, super easy communication. It takes a while to set up your account but it'll be worth it! Super simple interface to navigate and apply for odd jobs.
Not complaining about lack of jobs, but because it's constantly crashing, drains the battery and full of bugs. Giving it 2* because the customer service has been prompt and helpful.
Not able to apply for any opportunities. The link takes you too the sidekicker app and a message flashes that you just missed it within a fraction of second to my surprise! Please fix the bug ASAP.
Annoyingly not functional. Can't short list jobs. Too many irrelevant jobs in my feed to click 'open' then 'pass'. Can't access applications on computer...have to tap tap tap on a screen keyboard gah!! Why why can't I access these jobs outside of this platform??
I don't like it. It makes you put in info that you believe to be private but it's on your profile bio. There's an option to edit but it doesn't work. Not very useful and jobs way out of my location.
Really bad app. Frequently shuts down, app is not up to date with email notifications. Additionally I receive about 10 repeat job notifications per day which don't even show in the app.
Great app! Easy to use. I've been able to pick up extra work while I was studying. Very transparent about hours and rates on jobs. I always recommend Sidekicker to my friends 😁
I appreciate the initiative of this app but I cannot download any of the Position Descriptions through the app. And as there is no way to favourite a job, so I can't then go on my computer and search deeper into the jobs I had seen and liked previously.
I complained about their updated app which can track my private info and surprisingly & unlikely to other companies, they seemed to have changed the features and now you have choice to turn off those options.. So, to give them applause, I rate this app as 5 stars. Now, Just waiting for a job I can apply... which is none at the moment. (I know they are trying hard. 💝)
Good-ish app however too slow ... Taking ages just for loading everytime, looks like there's not background (loading). Leading to missing the best shifts offers for being ”slow". In addition, you need to submit your timesheet same day you worked because there's not option to completed during the next 2 days even though you were totally busy working overtime with clients.
