Absolute nightmare! I don't know if it's just because I have a Samsung J6, but trying to do anything with this app is almost impossible. The mirror screen doesn't work at all, I click one place and it does something completely different. All I really want to do is take photos off, and add music on but it makes it so incredibly complicated I have to disconnect the app to do it! A proper users guide with step by step directions would help, but a complete overhaul would be better.
I like this app and really enjoy using it ... WHEN I can get it to work! Unfortunately, it is really finicky about the connection quality and seems to prefer a 5.0GHz connection, which is not always available. I hadn't used it in a month or so, and today it took me over an hour to troubleshoot and get it going. It just would not connect. I wound up having to uninstall the cellphone app and REinstall the exact same version (latest one both) to get it working! This makes the third time I have had to do this. Also, during the initial setup, the use of two separate install codes is completely unnecessary. I couldn't get the QR Code option to work at all. There's a lot to like about this package however, if you can get it working! I would gladly give it 5-stars if it weren't so darned difficult to setup! And I'm an IT Specialist too!
This is an awesome app view either you're phone on a tablet or both on your computer screen (one at a time), not an emulator but a perfect replica. Features an "Always on top" and "Transparency" option so you can play music videos while still using the computer without touching connected device. The only issue I have had is the initial connection and once connected never fails. I should note I purchased S10 and gave it away when I found this feature was discontinued.
The app doesn't always work over wifi, there's definitely room for improvement. Seems as though not all options are available on all the devices it supports. Would be nice if you could more easily copy and paste from PC to your device. Seems it works sometimes but most of the time it doesn't. Seems better now but now you're going to cut support for the S9? Ihave a $600 hunk of junk? Iwant a refund!
Well Samsung, you've pushed me over the edge. I just may go back to Apple if I don't find an android phone that doesn't give me all the hassles to connect my phone to my PC. The app worked well enough the first time but my phone keeps diconnecting from my PC now. After selecting the photos, if you want to deselect some of them, that is difficult. If you make selection on your phone, when you reconnect to the PC, the selection is gone. It's been years that I stopped trying to do so and when I lost my last phone, all my files went with it, because I don't like using the cloud. Please make this easier and more stable.
Windows 10 & Samsung S8. Just needed to transfer some photos to my PC. Now I cannot find them on my PC or my phone. Multiple drop outs. I Do not understand why I need to see my phone screen when I just want to search for folders. Many more user interface issues to report but I do not want to waste more time on this app.
I don't use any of the samsung apps because inho they aren't the best. This app however is pretty solid. Does what its supposed to do and fairly easily. Once my screen died. I was able to use sidesync to connect via usb and was able to back up the contents of my phone. I could even send texts and make phone calls, all without touching my screen.
This app is exactly what I was looking for to be able to use the capabilities of my phone on my desktop. It has a USB connection capability that is unique to other screen casting apps. The viewing quality is great, the lag time is not unbearable, and I can still use all of my phone's capabilities, just through my computer now.
It works really well. Love to use it, it doesnt run too smoothly on weak hardware (I'm running on PC using a pentium processor for context) but it does run. For the connection to be solid it's best to run it connected to your pc via USB. You can run it connected via wifi but i've usually had an unstable connection with it and cannot mirror the screen over wifi or the connection will drop once it connects. Other than the wifi issue, its top notch runs very well and I definitly love the convience.
It's great, when it works. Connections via USB are usually unstable and laggy, and it sometimes causes your phone to overheat. Every now and then your home screen wallpaper gets temporarily changed to black, and you can't transfer files while in presentation mode. Once, SideSync suddenly took 1GB of my storage, and it wouldn't stop until I unplugged my phone from the computer. And I wasn't moving a file. While most of the features are genuinely useful, I'd like to see the problems fixed soon.
When I finally realized I may have been expecting too see too much it all came together with a rather bland screen... but that's where it all starts. Now I can send or receive any files on either device (SS J8 & Laptop) without hassle; almost with just single clicks. you may have best access luck with bluetooth. But once setup it's a real and simple goer. The ability to show AND control the mobile screen ON the laptop might be a bit of a gimmick BUT one that actually works. Best 1 for transfers.
I used to love this app. It worked well and made transferring file practically a breeze! Lately it has been so glitchy and slow. At one point I could connect because it claimed "Wifi is unstable." What happened to the app??? Please work this out. in the mean time all just open sidesync and link pc and phone by USB, but even with doing that the app is slow. Please fix this.
LUV this app. No need for Dex hardware. My phone is almost always plugged into this. It is a little resource-heavy for the average spec computer but I use it on a workstation that can handle it. I did get a good USB 3.0 cable and plug it into 3.0 ports. I would not want to be without it. P.S. dev's - I just noticed the current update removes features in Android 9. What features and that could impact it's usability for me?
Awful. The connection was seamless initially, and then i tried to open various apps and the connection immediately ended. Tried to open a game, my text messages, etc. Same result: disconnected. Pretty big problem considering screen mirroring is supposed to be one of the main features. Also noticed that even though I was using a USB cable for the connection, my Bluetooth music wouldn't play. Altogether, this app was hugely disappointing.
File transfer feature need to be improved. There is no sort button or search button to find a file. Imagine having to scroll down through thousands of photo in the gallery to find a certain photo before being able to transfer it. It is so frustrating. Please also enable sharing option to file transfer upon selecting any image/documents.
like it except that when you connect, it doesn't offer the choice of USB or wifi each time it is launched. Sometimes, I want to use wifi while other times, I would prefer USB depending on my situation at the time. This app only offers the option once at the time of installation.
Great app. Easy to setup. Works as described. Used it for 3 years with Galaxy S6 and Windows 7. Recently upgraded phone to S9 - now can not use it because it is not designed for S9. Imagine, both S6 and S9 phones are made by Samsung but SideSync does not work with S9. Samsung forces you to migrate to Samsung Flow - but Samsung Flow does not work with Windows 7. Clueless product planners at work in Samsung! This is the type of arrogance that got Microsoft into the toilette before they changed their approach!
Works good when it wants to work, sometimes it just refuses to work other times it won't stop working, even after closing on both my phone and computer, and forcing stopping. Some days it decides to just randomly connect without being to, other times it won't connect no matter what you do. I ask Samsung how to get it to turn off when I'm done so this doesn't happen and their answer was to install it, apparently that is the only way to turn it off??
Primitive interface that sometimes works and other times does not. very clunky. Wifi/Bluetooth works sometimes and not other, if I need to pug in a USB then why use this software. Wish there was something better, Samsung is happy to sell you their phones, but software support to interface with computers has been poor. Barely passable when it works wirelessly, two stars for working 30% of the time, maybe others have better results.
This is a great tool that should be developed further rather than discontinued from S9 Note 9. I bought my parents a Note 8 each so they could use their phones on the big screen of the computer. Much easier for their eyes and typing and even video calls. I use it on my PCs allowing for work on the computer and phone. Really good for increasing productivity.
I can never know how much time I've spent screwing with this program and every conceivable combination of settings and configurations - many following fresh reinstalls. It doesn't consistently work right on my new S8, and it didn't consistently work right on my old S5. I've also had these bad experiences on two different computers. One being Dell laptop and one being a custom PC. So with the dysfunction under all these different variables.. (out of space)
It used to run so well, but after the most recent update, I cannot access my device's touchscreen while connected with Sidesync. I am a content creator who does live videos using my phone; Sidesync is a greaty way for me to check for comments on my live videos without having to scoot over to the phone as I can see everything on my screen. Now, I can't even adjust the zoom on my camera. :(
Utterly broken. It connected, but the shared screen was not visible on my computer. And no, I cannot share a screen shot of how there is no phone screen on my computer screen. EDIT: I was able to move the shared screen onto the PC screen, and it is now visible, but finding out how to and actually moving the screen took research, and it should not do that after it has just been installed, so please fix the problem.
Amazing!!! but a bit laggy KB/mouse controls (no lag/jitter in audio when checking voicemail) and issues with no display when you should be being prompted for credentials for the Blackberry UEM/Workspace mode. There is also issues with scaling and X to Y aspect ratios (ex homescreen is stretched vertically and compressed horizontally:looking at gaps between icons, 2nd ex in playstore everything is zoomed in 175% to only see 3 app icons wide) Please feel free to contact for details.
"This app is incompatible with all of your devices." This is quite a statement considering I have about 50 Android devices, and all but 2 are Samsung including Note 8, 9 and 10...but not compatible? I guess a better question is what is this compatible with since the support page indicates I should not be having an issue since I do not have a Galaxy 9 or 9s which are the only Samsung devices listed as incompatible. VERY disappointed in Samsung.
I managed to connect to my PC initially via wifi, and it seemed like one of the best apps I've ever used. But then I was never able to reconnect again. The PC and Android SideSync apps saw each other but just could not make a connection. I didn't bother with a USB connection, since wireless was my motivation. Uninstalled it, and I'm now using a third-party app that actually works.
