I understand that a lot of people aren't too happy with SoD because of some progressive elements and "railroading." Railroading happens often in the BG Saga, so this shouldn't an issue at all, I actually like how it nicely sets up the transition to BG2, rather than the normally abrupt BG1>2. I don't have enough space to cover exactly how the progressive stuff is really done well and inobtrusive if you want it to be. Gameplay-wise, lots of tough, fun battles, cool items, and some neat quests.
Game design has far too many narrow spaces & floods of enemies which require loads of micro management. Which would be annoying enough, but we all remember how terrible the engine is at micro. If you enjoy losing characters to horrible design, then this is a great improvement. Otherwise, replaying BG1 will be way more fun!
Just beat this game, used story mode for most of the game, and i must say it was a great game! I spent a week playing it through and ended up enjoying it. Not only did this game contain references to the forgotten realms but it also had a lot of contemt from various books by wizards of the coast and even had a good back and forth storyline if you want to go the npc route and not make a custom party. A good standalone or addition to the series of baldurs gate.
Best played on Tablet. It takes up about 3GB of data, and is a seperate download for mobile devices, whereas on the PC if you buy Baldur's Gate Enhanced edition, this is a DLC and not a seperate game/download. Otherwise the game plays fine, just make sure your screen is big enough.
While it was nice to play a new story in the Baulder's Gate sega, this game by no means lives up to it's name. I am not getting into all the woke politically correct drama the developers were dealing with, I played the game for the game's sake. I was not impressed, plus the game crashes on Android everytime I tried to view the map. The story was dull, the NPCs were less realistic than BG1 or BG2, it did not add anything to the original stories; it's bad.
Great game, really enjoy it. Like the story mode because am totally lost in combats, dont know rules so it way easier to start even play when characters cant die. Could be possible to implent android 8 feature to capture mouse? Would be cool to play it like native pc with mouse and kb locked inside app.
Great game that really ties bg1 and 2 together more seamlessly. Wish it ran as good as the older ones one my old tablet. they don't have as good graphics or as intense battles as SOD so I expected this to happen but it's still very playable with only minor issues. I'm sure a better tablet would solve this issue entirely.
I don't care what anyone says about this game I never played the BG games back when they came out. I recently finished BG1 and then played this. I loved it. You do get railroaded a bit but that's not a bad thing. After BG1 almost having too much freedom. Great story some wicked big battles. If you are on the fence. Just give it a try. You won't be disappointed. Onto BG2 now can't wait.
Edit: my old phone broke, my new Note 10+ seems to work fine. However I lost my save files with the old phone and along with it my desire to continue progressing through all the games. Replaying Bg1 would take dozens of hours! However it's still a great game. 4/5. :)
Devs please help! This game rips. its so much fun and i love playing it! I have a note 8 and the stylus makes gameplay so easy. However ever simce i reset my phone the app wont open! it just stays in the launch /initialising screen! whats going on?
Best RPGs ever. Played bd1 and almost done with bd2. Has minor bugs, like when you tap on an item in your inventory, you can put it anywhere on the screen! That's all really.
The combat is passable. However the story is complete and utter garbage. It does not tie into the other two games well, and the railroading is atrocious.
Personally, I thought this game did a good job of bridging the previous two games and giving some room to deepen one's character. The story was pretty linear but that was probably inevitable considering the fact that it had to get from one point to another to connect the two games.
It's a great game has lots of replay value character classes difficult y settings but you need a tablet or large screen to play not recommend for phones it really gives a reason to go on my Android yoga tablet instead of other gaming peripheral I love it worth every cent great job beamdog!
I love the BG game serie and I played BG and BGII with all the extension on my phone (without any issue). But this porting works SLOW! The character movement is so SLOW. I'd love to play this, but its frastrating how the movement is so god damn slow. Phone: Xiamo MI Max 2
Love the Baldurs Gate series. Best RPG of all time( so far). Since this is a revamp in a way to connect 2 stories. You are getting a lot of this new age Social Justice, Agenda pushing in this game. So I own it. I rated 5 star because I live Beamdog. I have yet to beat game because I do not like games telling me how to behave ( although in a vague way). Why can we not just make a good game . No agenda
Looks really good, unfortunately i couldnt get it to run on 2018 tablet, it lagged to point of being unplayable even with graphics toned down.. BG:EE ran perfectly so i dont know.. got a refund just annoyed as i was looking forward to playing through from BG:EE.
It was a bit of a struggle to get used to the UI but it buffs out. My only complaint is you can't import a multi-player game from BG1.
Excellent game, series & stories you can ever play. The Villains are some of the best. The Dragons, names & creatures are dope & everything about these games get no complaint from me. I would however like to see a release for IceWind Dale II on the androids.
The controls are not the best on android. Misses taps all the time when you touch something small.
They really have the business selling this for use on a phone. Everything is so tiny you just can't see anything even if you increase the text size. Looks like you would be a good game other than that. Hard to find any help to come inside the game as well.
Purchased Baldurs gate 1, loved it, read this was a good game to play before starting Baldurs gate 2. When trying to join my friends game it pops up "Can Not Connect To Session" tried everything I could find online, please send feedback @BeamDog
Unplayable. Galaxy Note 8 and the game won't even launch. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game multiple times, all to no avail.
Worth playing through for some cool battles. The story itself is mediocre but passable. What's unforgivable is the dialogue in the closing sequence. It's very much at odds with the opening dialogue for Shadows of Amn (the direct sequel to this installment, which was published two decades ago). More time invested in the narrative choices of NPCs could have salvaged this game, but sadly it just feels jarring and clunky
