Sign BSL

This seems useful as a learning tool. It's not in any order tho, you can search for signs but if you want to string words together it will be difficult. You can't set videos in an order to watch and learn in sequence as you would writing words on a page. There is a lot available and showing different ppl signing shows you don't have to be exact. The only main issue I have is with the speed of the examples, some are too fast to see what's going on, even with repeat play on.

This is an app I use everyday, very useful although needs some level of quality control to be 100% trustworthy, as some content is not always accurate snd you need to use your own judgement or outside sources to check (videos by grey shirt man with blue background are usually the best!) Also recently the app has stopped allowing me to search for another word after I've searched for one already, as the keyboard no longer opens when I click in the search box. This bug means that I have to close the app and reopen it when I want to search again. Just a very recent thing, as for most of the rest of the year before the last month or two it had worked fine.

The app is really useful and I use it a lot to learn words when they randomly come to mind. Something I think would be a really good addition would be to make it so we can turn the definitions into flash cards! If you did this I think it would really increase the amount of people using it, and it shouldn't be too difficult to add!

A really great app, especially since the most recent update. I use it to communicate with my 1 year old son who has not yet learned to speak and it's proven really helpful. What I would love to see, however, is a "my top words" section for quick reference to words users frequently search. This would really help with learning and speed of using the app. Or if you could create your own personal library of words.

Can't search any words or browse categories. It's only a list of random words to choose from, not helpful at all. Uninstalling minutes after download. Edit to reply. The search bar does not work, no keyboard will appear for it. There's a list of random words to choose from (likely previous searches of others) but no way to browse or search myself.

Nice idea but too basic. There's more words than on that first page but not many. Maybe if they get funding they could create categories like useful for work or school or travel or add more phrases as I k ow phrases are not always the same as words put together. Keep up the good work :)

Keyboard doesn't work, so can only see what others have searched for? No way of finding anything else so is pointless. It would be good if the most common words could be categorised in the menu, at the moment the menu just takes you to the website which defeats the object of an app.

Good app and USED to run smoothly. Now I am facing the same problems as some have mentioned. The keyboard only appears once after the app is opened . Once I make my first search I have to restart the app to do another search. Not ideal when I am trying to use it for work 🙁

Much better to just go to website. The app is pretty rubbish. I find going to the website, on my phone, is easier than using the APP. Also over half the App screen is taken up with adds.

Really useful for me just starting level 1 bsl. A search will bring up multiple related words with definitions to make sure you get the right word in context e.g have/own/receive. Also has multiple videos for each word so you see right/left handing sign and regional variations. Ads are unobtrusive

fantastic upgrade, however im still struggling with my keyboard launching when using the search function. The very first search is fine, it operates as normal, anything after that my keyboard doesnt launch when the search bar is selected.

It's a good app to refresh what you know about sign and learn some new words. Best used when practicing with someone who knows sign, but the keyboard disappears when I what a video and I have to close the app and re open it to use it again. (bug fix?)

This app is awesome. I would definitely recommend it. I've always wanted to learn sign language and this is perfect. I can count this as another language! As most people are saying that websites or other app doesn't help or cost money, so this app is perfect.

Think it's a great resource but the bug is doing my head in, I only search one word and keyboard disappears and looking at other reviews I'm not the only one, come on sort the issue out and make it a great app.

Big improvement on the last app, which itself was very good and helpful. There is a list of words other people have searched for and a quick results page when you type in the word you are searching for.

Very useful and clear. I've been using this app for about 2 weeks and have aimed to learn and revise everyday. I find the videos of various people signing helpful to get an idea of variations and styles. Brilliant app!

I felt like I wanted to see more words put together like a phrase and If I didn't understand the video or the how to do the sign in got confused. So maybe if I could slow down the video it would help very much.

Disappointed that it's basically a dictionary. I was looking for something to learn BSL - a guide to simple phrases. Think Duolingo, but BSL. I'll keep looking, I guess.

After searching and viewing a video it is necessary to rerun the search to get the keyboard to reappear. Aside from that it is a very good app.

Absolutely rubbish. Will not let you search for work that are not on the list. Mobilesign2 was amazing would let you search for any word. Would not recommend this app at all

Amazing app! Really help me learn sign, however when I type in a word I wish it would say "This is not a word in sign" and "could not find" so that way you know if it's not a word instead of having to do research! Still do love the app. X

Fantastic. I'm a BSL tutor and advise students to get this app. Most students prefer this app rather than using a traditional dictionary. Make sure you get familiar with your regional signer, sometimes the options can be a bit confusing for beginners. Check new signs with your tutor or local Deaf community.

Massively limited vocabulary. I can't see this being useful at all. In situations where I have my phone and a network connection, which obviously this needs, there are plenty of resources available online without putting ad revenue in someone's pockets.

A few videos with a limited number of words. The videos which are there however are clear and repeat themselves There isn't an alphabetical index however

This is a great app to learn new signs. Many signs I have searched are there and clear to understand. In future upgrades I would like to be able to report a missing sign and have a bank of commonly used phrases.

When searching something theres a few videos and each one has a different way of signing that particular word or sentence. It's very confusing to know which one to use

Pointless. Cannot use the search bar. All vidoes are for signs of random words and phrases. No structured learning.

To basic. Even the simple of conversation cannot be found. I do think for one word that can be found they are accurate, but again not enough words found

I like this app but it keeps showing a picture only and no video. If I restart my tablet then it will play the video. Must be a bug.

Really nice! No sentences but a life saver for a beginner learner. The "words other people searched" for can get a bit weird. 😂
