I dont know if this app is in development but a bit disappointed. Tried using the sign dictionary and nothing came up. Just a blank screen. There's signs for a through to z and numbers 1 through 9, but when you click "topics" the same thing happens as the dictionary. It's just blank and there's nothing there.

The people in the videos sign way too fast. There is an option to slow it down, but then it's like a normal speed, so when you're trying to see exactly what hand shapes they are using, many times you can't. Good variety of signs though, and I like the concept of the app. Just slow down please since your audience are mostly beginners.

I like the lack of membership fees and adjustable speeds for learning at your own pace. I am not seeing the games or quizzes that are in the pictures. One suggestion would be add a feature where you can swipe or press a button to go to the next sign in the set. Also, when I click into a new term or set, my device volume gets muted

Seems promising. But it would be helpful if the slow down feature was actually slow. Not a slowed down video, because it's blurry. Also, maybe a side and front angle would be helpful so you can see exactly where on the body the hand placement is. Or at least some kind of description of hand positions and shape.

It should be more clear in topic options. Some signs can be used in multiple contexts & a sentence/definition to clarify would help. You can't always see proper hand position & people don't always have facial expressions. There's also some signs shown left handed instead of them all being right handed. It's confusing for deaf people if you sign both right & left handed. The app doesn't work well & freezes/crashes too much. It does have a nice amount of vocabulary for a free app. Good potential.

great bones, but could use key features to start, the app focuses largely on the overall gesture of a word, and it is offen hard to tell how the persons hand is oriented. the sweeping movement is clear, but details such as what fingers should be used and how to hold the wrist are left out. loved the slowed down speed option, though! third point: there is no resource here on how to structure sentences or combine words for complex thoughts - it is only a dictionary. not a problem but noteworthy

This is great! Though at times I find it difficult to navigate, it still contains a lot of signs that will come in HANDy 😉 My only wish would be for a few ready-made sentences beginners can use, especially like "I don't understand Sign Language" or "I can't sign". Those are sentences I would personally like just so I can show that I won't be able to have a conversation in ASL just yet! Other than that I find it very useful

This app has some major issues. The sign which appears in the home section, shows without its meaning, the database refuses to update, the dictionary search function doesn't work, nothing is visible in the topics section. Going directly to the website is the better option right now.

Overall the resource is good if you already have some basis of ASL, but if you're just starting out it isn't the most helpful. The dictionary section is more of a vocab list, it'd be really cool to have the meanings of each sign especially for the repeated english words that have different signs. Definitely a good studying tool though!

Helpful it doesn't give you sentences just words. Better than other app I suppose. I love it as I'm now hard off hearing and unable to get help elsewhere to learn it. It would be nice to be able to ask for sentences. Maybe in a purchase or something. That would be kinda nice. Or maybe converse with others as you learn idk

This app didn't work. It gives weeor messages when you try to sign up for the word a day email. It wouldn't move past the first sign on the intro page. The topics list doesn't open.

App doesn't have a lot of basic words and the topics section doesn't work at all. It's blank. Would be great if you could also favorite signs you are trying to learn in order to revisit. It's better that most of the FREE ASL Learning apps out there. This will get you started but isn't what it bills itself to be. This app is also not certified by Google Play Protect. Given the issues Android faces, I uninstalled.

I really like this app. It's so far a free service that is helping me learn my basic signs. I'm not sure why but it does deafen my phone when I open it. Which is an ironic or suitable feature given the subject it's teaching. Not sure why the videos it uses bother to give audio. I figure they could have saved on memory/usage if they were all gif type videos.

Wow. People were not kidding. This thing is BUGGY. Will not update. Does not work. It's a real shame because the desktop version is great and I find the pictures way easier to understand than the illustrations that other apps use.

I tried to sign up and it kept giving me an error. Uninstalled and reinstalled, same issue. Would like to sign up and use it, but it just keeps failing to do ANYTHING! If you can get back to me and fix my issue I'll gladly use this app!

This app is good for learning asl. It shows multiple ways of using one word, but doesn't discrib the differences. Aslo it doesnt have a little quiz on what it showd you which I wish they had because it makes learning much easier and much faster. I did not fin the game section shown in the pictures.

App is not that good compare to your website. I learned a lot in your website before from introducing ourselves to having a real conversation. since it is lesson by lesson you can easily memorize the signs especially that review part at the end of every lesson. Im so disappointed with this app because it keeps crashing everytime i go to topics. It is way different than what you have in your website :(

Love the idea but too many flaws to be useful to beginners. Though facial expression is a necessary part of ASL, many expressions made are exaggerations that make Deaf people look moronic! Dictionary lacks several basic terms. A notice that a particular sign is being used by a left hander would be helpful since switching dominate hand is confusing. The weekly quiz via email is nice & shows that app videos don't need to silence phone since website doesn't do this.

The app will open but won't respond or load any of the menus or buttons. Soon after, my system gives me a "this app is unresponsive" message. I have tried it both on and off WiFi. I also tried restarting my phone and uninstalling/reinstalling. None have worked.

Great for people who have some ASL skills and want to increase their vocabulary. Ability to browse endlessly rather than clicking through links to pull up signs means you can see dozens of new and useful advanced signs each session, including signs that aren't likely part of the first few courses people typically learn. This is rare that an app has this richness and accessibility of vocabulary. This is the one to download for people who want to increase an already established basic vocabulary.

so much bug when I want to go in. It freeze most of the time. I can understand there is a lot of video but that is upseting anyway. But I like the video, loop and slow motion. Maybe join a short description with the sign? like be sure the hand is like this or move 3 time. Should have a topic for the everyday phrases like How are you? Things like that. thank you

Emb. Mar 18, 2020

It helped a little bit with some asl, but it was nothing at all like what it's described as. It's one page with a button that says tap to start and then it just gives you randomized signs. I got the mobile app because the website doesn't work on my phone. The app lagged bad and made it unable for me to use my camera. Uninstalled.

Hai. S. Jul 27, 2019

The topics section was entirely blank, even upon refresh. It did not change even when I closed and re-opened the app, nor when I switched over from Wi-Fi to data connection and vice versa. Please fix this bug!

Tyg. M. Jul 22, 2020

Adding daily / common / everyday phrases would be substantially helpful. It doesn't really help me to learn just words and letters and not be able to correctly sign it in a sentence. I'm just currently assuming that it's the same sentence structure as if one can hear.

Kit. Mar 23, 2021

To be honest I didn't try this app for more than a few minutes because the video even after using "turtle " was hard to see detail in signing. The angle isn't right and its hard to see details needed for each hand and why is everyone so angry looking. I know expressions are very important in asl or any sign language. Why does everyone look like they are really giving you the slicing your throat sign you see in movies?

Amy. Dec 28, 2018

like this app categorizes similar words and phrases together so it's easier to learn. pretty simple to use. just wish they added quizzes at the end of each category to help practice. seems like it has a lot of content

M. E. Oct 12, 2020

I can already tell I'm gonna love this app. I'm not quite ready to move into sentence structure as I'm still learning just singular words. So I LOVE THIS. Throughout the day I wonder what the sign for something is. So now I can just pop on the app and look it up. The only thing keeping me from 5 stars is that it's a little slow. And I wish the sign would just continue to repeat, like a gif. Instead of having to hit refresh every time. Some of them also look like they hate their life.

Ril. L. Feb 13, 2020

The app functions really slowly when using the vocabulary builder, and it crashes often when using it making it not very effective to study with. I like the quizzes every week that you sign up for, however.

Tom. B. Dec 17, 2020

I like this app a lot, although there is some room for improvement with regard to user experience, and making the signs easy to understand (like why the hand actions are what they are). Still worth 5 stars though, as the dictionary is great, as is the slow-down feature. I agree with the other reviewer about them looking mean or fed up though. And the first words I learned were things like "kill", "jail", and "defense"! What do they think I'm going to be getting up to?! XD
