Identical to the original but adapted for phone use. Equally has hard. I'd love to know if ANYONE has completed it without a walk through guide for some parts? Gave 4 stars for controls, as there is one point in the game where the "?" icon is covering something you need to do. There is absolutely no way I could have got past this part without a walk through, because I couldn't see it. Using Xiaomi Mi8. Everything else, spot on. A reeeeal blast from the past!
It's Simon the Sorcerer, a great game, maybe four stars, but I'm reviewing the port. Completely spoiled by the control scheme. Maybe it's fine on phones, but I have a Chromebook, which has a touchpad. One would expect with a mouse and keyboard, it would behave as it did on PC in the old days. It does not. The port forces us into its weird touch screen controls. I'll be installing my original copy and running it in ScummVM, instead.
Just like the first gen games with color that were point and click. But just as before l still seem to have to eventually go to a cheat walk through in order to get through the game. Although this game does have alot of flexibility in order of finding and doing stuff there are some important things you can't skip so one would be lost completely if hasn't played something like it. Also was abrupt 3/4 way done when I couldn't figure out which game save was one I was playing, quit to tiring,to redo
I last played this game on my intel 486, I had it on floppy as no CD drive, so missed the excellent Chris Barrie voice acting. There wasn't enough space on the floppies for the game and the voice files. So playing it today with full voice files on something the size of my hand was a surreal experience. I didn't really remember how to solve things, but this time it only took me two days from download to finished... I think I prefer the days of agonising for weeks over my PC!
Played this many times before but for some reason I couldn't get to the end this time. Wouldn't give me any option to get to the fiery pits so had to uninstall. Bloody irritating when you have played through the whole game and know you're at the end but can't get there. Don't know why the game allows you to send the demons back without giving you the info you need to proceed. However its definitely a great classic and worth the play.
This game is tortute more than Sordid. There's no logic in any of the puzzles, too many screens and paths you can use. No way someone can finish it without a walkthrough and even then it's exhausting. Worst quest I played. Good port and pretty scenery though. 1 star just for that.
Pretty good point and click. Not quite as good or funny as the classic Lucas arts ones in my book but I'd not played this first time round. The humour's a bit more English which is refreshing but as other people have mentioned you're going to need a walk through at some point and the amount of fairly sparsely populated scenes is a bit tedious... I'd recommend drawing a map in retrospect. Fun though
You should be able to choose the old style music and for some reason.... no matter how low I choose the music, it is louder than the voice :-(
The game is cute and all, but I had to take off 1 star. A large number of tasks are not intuitive, not even by guessing. They seem forced and put just for them heck of it. The wise owl gives hints at random so it's not very helpful to find the answers you're currently looking for. You'll have to resort to walkthroughs.
Played for quite a while and when I went to save and exit it kept saying "unable to save at this time". Lost all progress, so a waste of money because starting over again would be tedious. Not my sort of game, too outdated. Hated that there's no demo to try before u buy too.
Ive restarted game 5 times by deleting and reinstalling! now I went to the shop aftervgetting the gold coins, finally! and wouldnt hou know, I have 2, (two letters), from Calypso! no grocery list!!! What the HECK is wrong with this game? playing on Android Alcatel one touch 7.1.1 Xfinity WiFi! hey I paid for this? I'M beyond frustrated at this point? going in circles?
I love nostalgia and point and click so was kind of surprised not to particularly enjoy this when I fired it up. Not sure it is the developer's fault though - think it was one of the point and click adventures that was a little *too* old, before they became more streamlined with lucasarts ones
Such an enjoyable game. I love the old school graphics. Reminded me of the old Police Quest and Leisure Suit Larry games. I had to use a walkthrough at times but that didn't take away any enjoyment from our it.
Nostalgia at its best. I remembered this game from when I was a kid but had no idea how to do anything. A great blind play through but very frustrating at times!
Real nostalgia playing this again. Had to resort to a walk through, and think it would be almost impossible without. You do spend a lot of time wandering about but that's the nature of the game.
A lot of fun, great characters, great dialogue, awesome world to discover. Puzzles are basically impossible to figure out.
Such fond memories playing this on the Amiga1200 and the CD32 which has the voices. This is really well done turned into a mobile game and how all mobile games should be like. Not the plethora of crappy greedy socalled Free2Play games that even plays the game for the player instead of the player actually play the game xD
First time ever playing this! This game is amazing, very smooth, and I love the touch controls, and the British Banter makes me laugh, awesome game, I'm stuck but I don't give up, Thank you Devs! Worth every penny, 5 Stars.
I never got around to playing this game when it was first released in the 90s, 25 odd years later I've finally completed it! Chris Barrie is brilliant as Simon and the other characters bring their own comical moments
Great fun and lovely graphics. Persistence is required as not all solutions are that obvious!
Fun game. I remember a lot from the original years ago so manged to get quite far on the first play. Shame saves aren't cloud syned as wanted to continue progress on another device..
Brilliant game played this and second 1,just waiting for the third 1to come out,I love these games the second 1 could do with some work though as words don't match with their mouths but love them 🤭🤗😁 definitely more than five stars
An excellent point and click, well worth the cost. Simon is a funny narrator and the plays on classic tropes are wonderful.
Not too far through yet, but enjoying it so far. Not easy, but I'm making enough progress to avoid feeling frustrated.
Great game. I had to use online walkthroughs a few times, but it was mostly solvable.
I wasn't sure about the 2 HD icons in the top 2 corners of the screen, they don't quite match the retro pixel graphics. After a short time of playing, I got used to the new overlay. Also, as a plus, this version is more playable than the original, because you can choose to highlight all interactable objects on screen, thus saving time and making the game easier, no more pixel hunting with a mouse. I found the longer I played it, the more I enjoyed it. 5 stars.
