Simple Audiobook Player Free

I like everything about the app itself. The only thing that is annoying is, that the app (ones installed) is called "Simple ABP player". So let's say you want to hear an audiobook and you search in android for "audio" or "audiobook", then this app won't show up. Because it does not contain the word audio or audiobook. It will show up as the 3rd - 6th result if you search for "a", but if you don't remember the exact name it won't be very searchable. I want to hear an audiobook, not an "ABP"

A very nice app. The one major issue that the developer overlooked is the fact that users may want to use the app for studying, for example quizzes or foreign language repetitions. For these users the default 10 seconds rewind is too much especially since with such an easy interface one could easily tap 5 second rewind twice. Still, I'm very happy with the app.

Very user friendly and simple app. I originally downloaded it for listening to audio books, which is does just fine at, but it also works really well as a tool for transcribing audio by hand, pushing the audio back a few seconds on a pause has helped me immensely when going over interviews and such and being able to bookmark important bits so I don't need to remember the exact point it is at is a huge time-saver. Have been using it for a year with no known issues.

Very smart app. Great work from one programer to another. Loving it more after using it longer. Great app. (Only wish is to sort files by date time)😊 I had to move on to another app because of the sorting issue, I can't keep looking for the file every time I download an app so you lose two stars for that, I found another app that does it. Sorting files by time as an option is not hard to do.

Clean, simple, functional app for audiobooks. Everything you need, nothing you don't. The motion activated auto-sleep timer is a reallynice touch. you can set it that if your phone is not touched for a certain amount of time, it will play a beep, and then pause playback. Or just nudge your phone to resume playing. The motion of a car or walking is enough to keep it active, its a great feature that works as intended. No ads, no unneceaary permissions either.

I needed to find an app to substitute for BBC I Player which is being discontinued ' outside the UK ', mainly to rewind 10 seconds when listening to podcasts. While it is not as good as the BBC's own app , this is the first one I looked at and has lots of easy to use features and the interface is intuitive. Listening to an audio download from the player in Google's mobile browser gives you no options other than play, pause and skip. This app does the job for me.

Don't be deceived by the (at first glance) basic-looking UI and the small app size. This is a fantastic audio book player with just the right amount of features. The UI is simple and customisable (you can change the duration of the back and forward buttons both on UI and the notification). Kudos for creating such a useful and lightweight application! If there is one thing that can be improved, it'd be the file browser. It can be made easier to use.

Amazing for audiobooks that are broken up into chapters. It groups them all into a folder and will play until the end. Previously, I would have to click on a new file at the end of each chapter. This was such a nuisance when I wanted to just relax or if I was out walking my dogs and would have to open a new folder each time. The ten and thirty seconds skips are great if you want to here something you missed and don't want to use the slider that has no control.

Thank you SOOOOO much!!! An audiobook player that actually has bookmarks, remembers where you were in the audiobook when you quit, plays in the background (even with the screen off), I even love the oversized buttons. I would give a rating higher than 5 if it were possible, and there's not very many apps out there that I feel that way about. Again thank you so much, well done!!

Does everything I want from an audio book player. Never fails to resume playing after a long pause. Allows to configure how it reacts on all possible headset buttons. And delayed pause schedule is a feature I never thought I need. Yes, the UI is a bit spartan, but it works perfectly well and I'm not even sure it needs a facelift. Thank you. Please don't break it like the one I've been using before.

Updating my review. Thank you to the developer for answering back. I couldnt figure out how to fix that. The app works awesomely now :) When you turn the screen off the audio plays for a short time before making a noise (like a beeping noise) then the audio stops, so you have turn the screen back on and press play again. It keeps doing this, not sure why, other wise this app would be awesome.

The no brainer audiobook player choice. The free version is full featured, with no annoying ads or messages. I love the giant buttons! Also the chapter level and book level total time, time left, and time played are all on one screen with the big buttons. This app design is not trendy, and all the better for it. Why is it trendy to make buttons tiny? Or to make apps "minimal" so you have to tap four different places to see the most basic information? I wish my music and podcasting apps copied this app as an example of great usability.

Almost good. If you've got some audiobooks (a set of MP3 files in a single directory), then this app can play them. However, the UI is overly file centric instead of book centric. For example, to select a new book to play, you navigate the file system to one of the files for the book. It does not manage your entire library in any way. Also, next/previous file buttons are overly prominent. Pretty good progress indicator. Decent widget. Audio stretch feature relegated to paid app.

You can tell this app was developed by someone who was tired with badly designed audio book apps. Simplistic, clean, functional, user friendly, no BS, and free with only 1 major feature behind a paywall. Modifying playback speed. Don't let that discourage you! Try the free version out, you'll agree that it's almost everything you want in a Audiobook player.

This app is simple and amazing to use. You can also export the bookmarks which is very useful. One thing that is missing is an auto timer to switch off the app. Useful for the sleepy books or music. Maybe this could be a request for an update. REWIEW EDITED: yes that worked, the symbol DP was not enough intuitive for me! My bad. I guess know you can add an AI to index the book automatically. (I'm joking but would be amazing)

Don't let the simple looking UI interface fool you. It does what it needs to do - and does it well. Doesn't need to be flashy to be effective. Holding save points for multiple files is great. Slider seek, back and forward 10 seconds ... The free version does what I need - no ads or BS. No reason not to try it.

Lightweight and ad-free, easy to use. I use it for my podcasts and it's excellent. Buttons on screen big enough to use easily while driving and surprisingly configurable. All in all a pretty good app. Also, and unusually, the app offers a pre-amp finally fixing the too-quiet connection to many Bluetooth players/speakers. That feature alone is worth gold.

Very nice interface and great features. I love this app. Two problems I face are: 1. Some times it jitters. I have to rewind 5 seconds and then it plays smooth until it jitters again. 2. I have "resume on replug" option disabled. But still when my Bluetooth headphones are connected, it starts playing automatically without me even knowing. I miss parts of my audio book and have to go through painstaking efforts to find my last known section of book manually.

My beloved Mortplayer has been showing its age (ie, reliability problems), so it was time to find a new podcast/book player. SAP does a fine job and seems to have rock solid reliability. I have made the switch. Some items that could be improved: finished files in list view should be highlighted for easier deleting, I would prefer a setting to have the list view default to root rather than last opened, I would prefer a setting to only show the current file, not folder & file in the player view.

I just got this today. I got tired of VLC forgetting where I left off on my audiobook files. I tried two other audiobook apps as well, but neither would play WMA files. This free Simple Audiobook Player works great! Very easy to use, remembers where i left off even after rebooting my phone. Starts and stops automatically if I want it to when I connect or disconnect my headphones. It is smart enough to back up 5 seconds when I stop, so that when I restart I know I didn't miss anything. Simple intuitive interface, flexible settings. Clearly shows exactly what audiofile is playing (which VLC didn't). Even better, shows exactly how much time you've listened, and how much time remains, in both this file and the entire book. Does exactly what I need - thanks!

Not only did it meet my needs for playing audiobooks, but exceeded expectations and had no ads. I just switched phones and although it doesn't require an account, I resumed exactly where I left off over a month ago. Exiting the app without bookmarking or internet access retains your place regardless. I can only presume the app stored my settings on my SD card.

It has worked wonderfully. But it'd be great if you had the feature to change the playback speed. Also, the books change their cover images sometimes. With pictures from the same folder, that is strange since those files are not related and I've found no way to change them Cheers! And great job again
