Can't even get my $ back after purchasing this. Waste of time. You lose everything if you clear your cache daily and have to redo it over and over to sync from google drive. I need something that can sync across all platforms, because repeatedly doing this is driving my crazy and wasting time.
I used to love this app. It was so convenient to keep my finances up to date because I always have my phone on me. It was great being able to sync across devices. Then a month ago I got a new phone and it took me a week of uninstalling and reinstalling on my phone and tablet before I could get everything to sync again. I emailed the developer and never got a response. And now for the past few days, every time I try to open the app on my phone, I get an error message, "simple checkbook has stopped working."
I paid for this some time ago and it works great for being a simple checkbook app that's easy to use and read. But I do experience a great deal of lag from hitting enter and waiting for it to input the info. I have emailed the developer 4 times and no response yet. Lowered my rating since dev doesn't want to respond.
CSV import did not work as advertised and the creator has yet to answer my email even though I sent one directly to his email address as he requested for a faster response. Sent him an email on January the 3rd. I think I have given him ample time to respond. Going to ask for a refund as my bank account is important enough that I couldn't wait for his response and purchased a different app today and am happy with its functions. Thanks checkbook pro for coming through when simple checkbook failed me.
On the free one all my info disappeared of i didn't get i to it for 2 or 3 days. After the 2nd time didnt use for 2 days went back in and the acct and everything entered gone. So i bought the paid version thinking it would be better entered in all my stuff yet again. Didn't use it for 2 days. Went to get into again and all my entries including the account was gone. I will not enter in everything again. Would like to get my money back but i highly doubt that.
Don't use this app it will screw you in the end. I had to switch phones twice and both times it didnt upload to the cloud, even though it says it does. I checked my cloud and it had a register from the year before and not even that would reload on my new phone losing all of my finances. I emailed this app provider and like others not even a email back. They don't care if their app fails or if you lose out on your finaces. I may be looking for a lawyer to sue this creator sense I payed for this app as well.
Works as described. Noticed the future transactions show up in all my accounts which don't have their own auto transactions set up, so I have to set one up to clear out the info from my other accounts. Like the clean layout. Would like to see the balance beside the future transactions, so you could see your projected balance a month or more ahead of time. Also an option to move future Trans to the ledger before their scheduled date if needed would be great. Overall very happy with it.
I first downloaded the free app, then went ahead and paid for it. I was not able to sync with the Google Drive and find my 'docs'. I sent the developer 2 emails and got not a single reply. I see many good reviews, but without any support, I cannot give one. If you don't need to sync with Google Drive, and/or want to use this on more than one device, then it's probably just what you need. For anything else, go somewhere else.
Use to love this app a lot and still do some, but now every time you try to enter the date the number key pad pops up blocking the ok and cancel buttons on the calendar. Then you have to either exit the app and reopen it, or hit the settings button and exit settings for it to work. This is for every transaction you enter. Very VERY annoying. Could you please fix this for the galaxy s7 please?
update 5/1/2015: GENIUS app! Got it in 2013. When Google Drive Sync feature was added, started backing up each of my 6 bank accts to Drive (takes 5 secs!) Bought a Galaxy s6 today and Simple Checkbook Ledger transferred over with all my other apps but with no data in it, because I had to download the data from my Drive acct where I'd backed it up. On Drive you can't read the data, but it's there. Before transferring read all the developer's help notes about it to ensure you won't lose data. Create IDENTICALLY named accts in your new phone's app first, then 1 by 1, highlight an acct folder on Drive, then open that acct in SCL and chose Google Drive Sync (from the Acct Options menu). Next be SURE to choose "Sync FROM Google Drive" (instead of "TO" Drive as you do when backing up data) For one acct an error message told me this acct was not on my Drive. Huh? Turns out, I had inserted a space in the acct name without realizing it. Those names need match perfectly, so copy & paste your acct. names somewhere ahead of time. I still have access to my old phone or never would have known why there was an issue. Allow 30 sec for Drive Sync to complete. Voila! Easy Peasy!
Used to work well, SOMETHING has went wrong! When I set the color for lines every time I log on it has changed back to all the same color. When I just edit two accounts to automatically debut starting in January 2018 it went back started for January 2017. Check to make sure I set the date right which I had. Ended up having to delete every transaction it made manually. I paid for this app and am very disappointed at this time. Whom every is keeping this app updated NEEDS TO GET BUSY AND FIX SOME ISSUES!
Used to love it coz its so easy and simple to use. You can create as many ledgers as you want and input data as many as you want. But after a week or so, when the app automatically updates, when you open your file, all your ledgers are gone and a message will say "LEDGER NOT FOUND MAYBE BECAUSE A BUG WAS FIXED. Both the free and the paid version did the same. I even tried to enter all my data several times. Again, after a day, ledger is not found. So it's time for me to UNINSTALL!
This checkbook application will not properly backup my checkbook entries, each time I sync my entries with Google Drive, I try to open my saved checkbook document and get a notice telling me my document is unsupported. Correction, this app is Totally useless. Enjoy the money you made off me.
As a check book register it is flexible enough that mistakes can be corrected which is the heart and sole of what any set of books needs to be. You could likely make it into a one app does it all app, but I'll never use those features not in this app. This app is the root. The one that helps keep my other fiance apps on point. All in one apps blend everything together. One mistake affects everything. Used in conjunction this one either agrees or disagrees. The perfect check system.
Note 3: I have depended on this app until just a day ago. It will not open on my Note 3. Email to dev has so far gone unanswered...vey dissatisfied customer herr. Hope a fix happens soon or will have to delete & try a different app. Anybody out there having similar problems?
It takes a minute to set up, but once I did I love it. Literally one of the very few reasons I won't switch back to iPhone is because I depend on this app so much. It is the only one that I have found that does exactly what I need. Schedule transactions, archive completed transactions, multiple accounts, etc
Excellent app when it's working. In the last 9 months it has locked me out of my info twice! The backup function doesn't work unless you are logged into an account, so if the app crashes when you try to log in...well, you get the picture. Will email the Dev. But, like others, I don't expect any help.
Every time I try to open my checking account the app stops. This started 5 days ago and I still can't get in. I can't even get into my csv backup because it stops every time I try to login. My savings account works fine, but that's not what I'm using it for. I just want a checkbook that works. By the way, where are the backup files kept? I was unable to load the backups onto the Galaxy S7 that I bought last year. I have the paid version of your app and I'm not happy at all right now.
This program was the absolute best. Then with my S8 + I can no longer enter dates for transactions. The number keypad comes up and is in the way. The same happens on free or paid versions. I tried to contact developer -- but no answer. Looks like support may be gone.
I really like this app, the ease of use, the looks of it, and how well I can customize it. What I DON'T like is that for some reason, I am now unable to access it! I paid for the ad-free version and had no issues at first. Now every time I try to open it I get an error message and a choice to send a Report. I emailed the creator. UPDATE 11/8/14: Gary emailed back with a fix...apparently my phone did something weird to it. I had to clear the account data, but it's working now. Yay!
I love this app, though within the last month I noticed that the ledger doesn't move up when adding a new entry, you have to scroll down until you get to it. It's annoying when you're trying to see how much is in your account. Otherwise it's a great app.
I like this app. Having said that, like any software product, it has some rough edges. I gotta laugh at people who pay less than a dollar for an application and then expect next day support. Give the guy a break, ffs.
This app has been abandoned, so there's no point in continuing to use it, never mind purchasing it to begin with. Used to be great, but not any more.
Really like the app helps me out a bunch. But lately has been backing out when I try to sync to my Google drive. So I got a new phone went to upload and nothing is there. Very PISSED off.
For .99 this app is great. I have multiple accounts and took me five minutes to setup the way I wanted with passwords on each account. Easy to use and love the easy interface. For a simple checkbook register (with some bells and whistles) this is awesome. If you want an accounting program then get Quick Books
