Simple Notes

It would seem my notes were simply cleared out, with no input whatsoever. The titles were still there, but the contents of each were completely blanked out. This on top of all the other things that've happened to this app make it unfit as a free version of anything. Downloaded this and a few other of their apps through an article recommendation back in the day, sad to see it come this far. "No more updates" shouldn't mean low-key pushing an ad campaign more than 6 months after the last update...

As far as I know, there is no limit to the amount of characters you can put into the notes. Though it is a little too simple. I cannot format text into italics, bold or underline. Not really problem, but I'll have to get used to it. Good app though. EDIT: The font size and color options is no longer included, a giant star icon four lines in size takes up a decent portion of my screen. Pop-up "please buy" is too frequent. A pure shame on this money grubbing developer. Absolutely rediculous.

Simple, just the way I need it. You can put a note on the screen as a widget, pick colours, make background as transparent as you want. The only issue I'm having is it can't export a note as a text file to my SD card. It can overwrite an existing file, but not make a new one. And when it writes a file, it leaves out some (>10) characters at the end.

Used to be good, now not so much. Before, it was a simple note app and that's all it wanted to be. There is a pro version that has some other features that don't really interest me (printing, checklist, and something called 'improved design' implying they only put their good UI in the paid app - lol!), so this one worked fine for me. Well now you can't even open a note without incessantly being directed toward the pro version. More features aren't worth it if I don't need them.

I used to love it, but this new update turned the features pretty ugly. Also, something that's supposed to be quick, easy, and simple now has a bunch of unncessary features, looks clunky, and the screen is way too busy. I used notes because it was supposed to be a quick jotdown of thoughts or to do lists. I'm not writing a damn novel in Notes, I don't need 99% of these new features!

I don't use most of the functionality because out of all of the notes apps I have tried, this does exactly what I need (and for some reason, what most notes apps do not do): gives me the illusion of just writing notes on my phone screen. With the background set to transparent, I use this app multiple times a day to jot down quick reminders or to compose and edit a longer text message before I send it.

4.5 Rounded up because it was free so a few minor quibles can be overlooked and I will forgive the nagging messages from last year to switch to pro. I love the visual design, interface & concept of all Simple tools. Clean & readable, significant visual customization and even some formating. If I were to be picky I'd ask for a "share" button and my personal preference for a "folder view" table of contents but having in mind it's meant to be SIMPLE and it was a FREE app, I am well satisfied.

"Improvements" ruined it. Used to be able to export ALL notes as text & import folders. Those features, which I relied on -- gone. The export all was first removed from the "pro" version, which I wrote off as a waste of money. Hey, developers, I just got a new phone; now I'm SOL! Thanks for nothing... P.S. Whatever you added to the "pro" (i.e. PAID) version are more than overwhelmed by what you've REMOVED.

Until recently it was my favourite notes app, but it started to aggressively promote the premium version, and now there is a "mark favourite" button at the bottom, hiding text, that would only work in the premium version, so it sends you there. So I'm uninstalling, bye. Update: then they have the gall to promote the pro version in the response as well, as if it weren't obvious that this aggressive promotion and that the free version is now NOT USABLE is the problem

So far, so good. I won't upgrade for the notofication type/ making list because I don't have the money to and I'm okay with just doing it the old fashion way and making it look like a list without being able to check anything off, simply delete something, but great app! I'm sure the upgraded version is very useful and good. Hope others enjoy

must say I love the fact that if you exit out it saves every word you type text animation point I love speaking into it one of the best translations from my mouth into my phone I've ever ever discovered HAPPENS IN THIS app. NEVER Would have guessed. Thank you! Simple design and layout. Very helpful to take a fast and quick note 😊 HAPPY that I discovered and download it to give it a try now it'll stay right here with me. I'm a writer, I do go on and on it doesn't have limits/caps I love it!

KISS To the Devs! GREAT JOB! I can't tell you how much I appreciate this app! KISS = Keep It Simple Stupid. I love apps that don't have unintuitive features or extra garbage. Never had an update break this app! It's super awesome being you can just Export each note as a sample.txt file! I will be getting the Pro Version in hopes it doesn't have any forced garbage! Potentially the design aesthetics its possibilities are the best of all that note apps on Google Play but is too frequently unresponsive or responds with a messed up disaster. One has to struggle fight to get it to work. Very unfortunate because the great potential is there but what stars to assign when it just only rarely works & some install retries not at all ---

The notepad has only one folder to store all the notes and the interface with external keyboard sometimes does not work as it makes unintented command. There is also an ads at the bottom of the folder screen which cause minor annoyance. It otherwise is useful as a basic notepad.

Font size used to be included in this version. Also the widget. The author updated this "no longer updated" version to make it a paid only feature and it's now blocked. I find it very dishonest act and actually goes around Google's rules that don't allow turning free apps into paid apps, and asking other users to report him.

What a truly convenient app. It saves time from looking for a paper to quickly jot down something and it automatically saves for you. No need to save constantly and you are less likely to lose your note. Very wonderful.

Good app, folks! I only use widget and it could be even more perfect if 1)it would close itself from opened apps list after using it; 2)the typing cursor would appear right at place where I initially tap at in the widget, not in the end of whole note. Anyway great, thx!!!

This is the only free notepad-like app I've found that can edit text files. Like other apps it can create its own files but this app allows you to give them file names so that they show up in your phone's filesystem when the phone is plugged into a computer.

Been using the paid version for years because it's a simple app with text export. It filled my needs. For about a year now the app constantly pesters you to rate and upgrade. I already paid for it. Then they additionally introduced a star icon that blocks parts of the text. Uninstalled after years of use

I noticed this free version was "no longer maintained", but I figured it was usable—why else would it be here? But I now see the developer's website says the paid, maintained version has "many stability improvements and bug fixes"… [Reply to developer:] OK, if that's true, maybe you should change your paid version's description… It doesn't inspire much confidence in this one! 😯

Simple Notes is a great way to save bits of information for lists and addresses. I use it like sticky notes and pull them out when I need them. Easy to use with no save function needed. Thanks for your product.

I like this app developer's quality, always consistently good, useful, creative, and they never marginalize their work with ads that frustrate the user, ads that ultimately minimalize the time and effort it takes to produce them.The developer seems to place a stronger emphasis on app development and app evolution to the extent that anyone using the free app would GLADLY pay for any upgraded version! I like these apps and continue to install them because they are so dependable and easy to use.

Works fine. Some small glitches like if you delete a note it switches to the note at the top of the list which is kinda silly. Other than that it's quite lovely for a few app.

Great app, no ads, very customizable, and the widget is beautiful! One thing to improve though, there could be an option to change the font on the notes and the widgets too!

Love it. I use it for a grocery list. I also have lists for several other reasons. It automatically saves any new additions to any list. I have not had any issues with this app. Very easy to set up each list

Don't waste your time installing this app. Sure, it appears free, but, under settings, it says, "This app will not be updated. You need the Pro version". Most of the settings have been deactivated & cannot be changed. Therefore, it's hardly FREE. I believe the technical term for this type of app is "CRIPPLE WARE"! To answer the developer's comments to other reviewers, this app BARELY WORKS! It needs serious updating which you've made perfectly clear is not gonna happen. Hence I've deleted it.

Easy to use but it's frustrating that if your screen times out no changes are saved. Tedious to constantly have to save it at risk of losing changes. Otherwise good.
