Simple Search Widgets
Note: If you want to remove the Google Search bar from ICS or above, you will need to install an alternative launcher app, such as Nova Launcher. Then, add this widget to get back search functionality on your home screen.
This widget looks great with other minimalist widgets, such as Beautiful Widgets, Weather Eye, Circle Battery Widget, and Minimalist Text. Check out the last screenshot for an example with Weather Eye and Circle Battery Widget.
To use the Voice Search widget, you must have an app installed to handle voice searching. Google's Voice Search app is perfect for this, as is any other app that handles the android.speech.RecognizerIntent.ACTION_WEB_SEARCH Intent action.

WHAT CHANGED?? This app used to allow me to search my contact list from the search widget, why all of a sudden I'm no longer able to do this function? Sadly, this app is no longer of use to me because of this.
Finally! an app which works and has a simple icon instead of a search bar.
Could have been a good app but doesn't have 1x1 widget as stated which makes it useless for me.
this little app is impossible open after download. wish I would have had the opportunity to try it
This is just redirecting to Google's preinstalled search engine. Useless.
It needs updating, the widgets are all 2x2 even though they should be 1x1
The Mico phone part of app doesnt work.
Apps have become advertising vehicles for developers wishing to minimise development and maximise revenues. In my view, there is so much to be said for keeping things simple and ensuring that they work flawlessly! This widget does precisely that. I simply cannot credit it with high enough praise to accurately reflect the enormity of their achievement. Many congratulations!
This looks simple, clean and discreet. Much better, for me, anyway, than to have a huge search box at the top of one of my home screens (complete with cartoon logo), wrecking the "minimalist" look that I love.
This takes the place of the voice search widget which is no longer existent on some phones. It uses Google it's not its own app. Works wonderfully. Thank you for making this widget.
What more can I say? The app does exactly what its description says, and that's quite a lot! Kill what's needed and maintain everything else required to complete the relevant tasking of the day. Simple and precise; nice job team!
Do you ever feel that Google wants to take over our lives? Is Google working at turning us all into obedient little consumer androids? Well that is debatable but if you don't want the Google search widget dominating your screen, this nice little widget is the answer. And it appears to do no evil. :-)
Great widget that does what it says. Some customization options would have made this app the best thing.
A wonderful widget for one-click access to the Google voice recognition engine in only a 1x1 footprint. Perfect!
Two small icons on each top corner at 0.5 size (nova launcher) looks brilliant.
I was reluctant to install as it has not been updated for 5 years, but I found that it works perfectly on Marshmellow with Arrow launcher as a small 1x1 transparent icon that quickly launches Google search or voice search
Loved it until I updated to Oreo. Now when I hit the microphone it makes me use abomination that is google assistant instead of regular Google Voice search
A 1x1 search widget that automatically pops up the keyboard. One can put it low on the screen meaning easy access to Google search with one hand on lager phones. I can't believe it isn't more popular!
I don't like saying OK Google and find it difficult to hit the microphone icon in the search bar so I looked for a big microphone icon to start voice search from my home screen. Here it is.
The 1x1 size is slightly larger that normal and thus I can't put the widget in my phone's taskbar.
Takes up little space so it doesn't interfere with the wallpaper.
Installation instructions are outdated, but works as advertised.
Small and easy to use. Add it to all of your pages!

Exactly what I was looking for. Now I can have a single 1x1 widget with both Google search and Google voice search.

There's an option to use 1x1 widget where you can choose whether you want text search or voice search according to whether you tap the top-left or bottom-right of the icon - didn't even know that was possible! Very simple widget, I like! Uses much less space on screen than Google search bar widget. I like!
