Simple Spotter Play Counter

Most kids youth football league requires that each player play a certain number of downs. Unfortunately it's very difficult to keep proper track. For example, you check off all eleven players on the field just before a play begins. Then that play gets called back for a penalty. Now the play doesn't count. The coaches then swap some players out and you are left having to trying to un-check the players you just marked off. It really becomes a mess.
I wrote this app after spending a season as the spotter for my sons football team and realizing there is no way I would go through that nightmare again the next season. To use the app, simply add your players names and numbers. Then select the minimum number of plays each player is required to play. Now as you see the players on the field, click on their number on the screen. As you click the number, it will turn a different color and the counter will show you how many players you have selected. Once you reach eleven, you know you got them all. Hit the Next Play button and those 11 players are now marked as having played one play. If a penalty is called, simply hit the Undo Last Play button and it's as though that play never happened. After each play instead of having to select all the players again, you can select the "Select Same Players As Last Play" button and the same players will all be selected again. Now if the coach switched out one or two players, no biggie, just touch those players numbers and they will un-check and the new players will be there instead.

Under each players jersey number you will see the total number of plays left that a player still need to do. You can also list the players by their name and select any player to manually change the total number of plays left. So for example if a player is injured and out for the game, you can change their play count to 0. When a player reaches their required minimum number of plays, the color of their number will change to green. This allows you to quickly see who still has plays remaining.

This app was designed to run on larger devices with a display of 800 pixels or larger.

Though my son plays for a Pop Warner youth football team, this app will work with just about any league that requires a minimum number of plays.

I was asked to spot for my son's team this year. The first game I used the paper spotter's sheet and I found it confusing. I said to myself, "There must be an app for that". Simple spotter made the job much easier and faster. A few suggestions: Put the cursor in the Name field by default after each player entry. It feels like a step too many to have to touch the Name field every time when you're rushing to enter a roster before a game. It would be good if the players numbers turned from green to yellow when they get half their plays in, (4 or 3).

My screen isn't wide enough. And I'm on an S8 plus. It's exactly what I need...but players first digit only shows

Will not allow me to change the number of plays required and does not show a players whole number. Good concept but useless as is.
