Terrible App! Worked fine for a while, then I needed to change the WIFI password, and it was never able to reconnect again, even after deleting everything, uninstalling and reinstalling the app. I called customer service for support and they weren't any help. So much for a "smart" fan. On a positive note, the fan is a wonderful "dumb" fan! #FIRSTWORLDPROBLEMS
I have had nothing but issues with this app. The pairing does not function easily, and the configuration of on and off toggle switches are very ambiguous. Frequent crashes, log outs without prompt, and honestly requiring to sign in to use my fan is pretty stupid. Especially when it requires a secure password.
The app keeps crashing during setup. I tried contacting tech support and left 3 days and times they could contact me. They never contacted me. The whole reason I got this fan was to use it with Alexa. Nice fan, but support support sucks. Thinking about putting the old celing fan back up and taking this one back. I will not buy another one that is for sure.
The App keeps crashing during setup. I had two fans and they were working fine. but now I decided to buy another 2 and I have not been able to configure them. The application closes and does not finish the configuration. I even unconfigured one of the fans that I already had of the same model and tried to configure it and now that one doesn't let me configure it either.
Painful setup but dies work. To connect, you need to connect to a 2.4GHz wifi network. My router did not allow me to select between 2.4 and 5 GHz. My work around was to use an old phone that I knew would operate on 2.4. I downloaded the app to that phone and connected through there. Setup, after the connection was mostly seamless. Hunter could definitely do a better job with their instructions. Why 2.4 is still in use is beyond my comprehension other that bandwidth needed.
Setup tries to be, "Simple" but just over complicates things... most wireless access points have 2.4/5g and even 6/6e. My access point has 1 WIFI SSID for all those mentioned and the access point determines if the device gets the 2.4 connection etc.... To get this fan connected I had to brick my entire network and disable the 5g/6/6e... connect the fan and re-enable the other networks. Please just let us connect to the fan and enter our wifi credentials.... I haven't even opened the app yet.
The app is horrible! Worked perfectly the first day, 2 months later, still can not control it from my phone. Update 3-3-22 App has started my fan everytime I've asked it to for the past week. Very happy with whatever they did. Will update if anything changes. 3-25 Not working again, back to 1 star.
Laughable. I'm extremely good at getting finicky apps to work when other people can't figure them out. This app, is just plain garbage. Took me over an hour to get my ceiling fan connected/working. It worked for a week, then just stopped. Expect to uninstall and reinstall this app, force stop and clear cache & storage often if you want your device to work with it. What gives Hunter? Love your fans... hate your app.
Most recent update seems to have broken connectivity. As of the 3/16/2022 or so update, the app no longer controls the device as it should and errors out if the fan is taken back through the process of connecting it to the app.
This app is horrible. I had to perform a factory reset on my phone. When I open the app, it asks me to enter my info. When I click on "login" nothing happens. Smart fan, dumb app...and it doesn't appear that Hunter is doing anything about it.
Still cannot get my fan to pair on this app. The fan is beautiful and powerful but the app is pretty much useless. I know it will by completely worthless if I loose the remote because the app is an epic fail. Shame on Hunter for not taking the time to develop an app that meets buyer needs but developing a fly by night that appeals to the consumer but does not deliver. If you are buying this fan for the "Smart" features there is serious caveat; the app does not work well for most.
Just will not connect. Spent half a day trying to connect to my phone, of course on 2.4, doesn't matter. Cannot connect to my wifi, let alone my Google home network. Nothing smart about this product.
I was trying to add my device to my account and it would crash everytime i tried. i hot desperated tried to connect it with an apple device I have and I had better luck adding it, but now when I try to open the app in android it crashes so badly that doesn't even let me log in. Plus... I cannot get Alexa to control it, it's a disaster. I bought it because we are always loosing the remote control around and it would be easier just to ask alexa to turn it on or off.
The app worked great for about a year from December of 2020 to December 2021. I can still control over Google but I can't get the SimpleCONNECT app to log back in. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app. I tried to reset my password, but the email never comes. Most all of the negative reviews have the same issue. A recent update killed this app. I was about to buy several more of these fans. But not until they fix the APP. How hard is it to program account management. Come on...
Garbage. So many issues. The app crashes before fan is able to get connected. This company clearly can't keep up with technology.
Constantly stops connecting to my very expensive Hunter fan. Every update to the app causes more problems. I will never buy another Hunter product again, and I am very angry about paying so much for absolutely miserable functionality.
The app is still broken. The login button can't be clicked. It changes color when you touch it, but that's it. It doesn't actually function. It's been almost a year since I've been able to use voice control for my fans. Hunter has stopped replying to my emails. If they would just fix the app, most of these negative reviews wouldn't exist.
Recent update locked me out of the app. Can't recover password. Can't create new account because of course my email is already registered. Incredibly frustrating and totally useless app. It's a brick now.
Dumpster fire of an application This application is hot garbage. I installed and connected the fan initially. After a couple of days, the app lost the authentication information. I got back into the app, but the device and home information were missing. I recreated the home and tried to add the device after about 5 minutes, error 111 'device registered to someone else, call support' Called support. They said they needed to email me a form to email back to send to the device team to fix?
Originally had simple connect wifi app Trash app Nothing works in the app. Same for this new version. Can't update password. I have an extra home profile listed and can't delete it. Alexa has discovered multiple instances of the fan and doesn't know how to address them. I turn the fan on and the light coes on too. Better off buying a dumb fan and install a smart switch that works with tuya or smart life app like i did for other fans in my home. These apps work
This is the most frustrated I have ever been using an app. Took 10 minutes of waiting for it to tell me fan successfully connected. Then it went to home screen and fan asked me to resume connection setup... reset app and now the login button doesn't work.
Sporadic at best when it did work, now it doesn't work at all. Tried to log out/log back in, now I can't even access my account.... not a good effort on Hunter's part.
This fan cost $400 and won't connect to wifi and forget about customer service because they don't want to help you. I don't recommend this fan to anyone that wants a smart fan.
Can't register fan. It will not see my 2.4 GHz WiFi. Tells me to check permissions. I did. This app is non working. Very disappointed.
App will not connect to fan. Tried several times after each install. Great fan, terrible app, and support.
04/14/22 - still failing to connect. App just crashed after entering code. Tried multie devices 03/09/22 - app never sends password reset link, registering new address 03/10/22 - App crashes when trying to register a device No help from support
Camera scan doesn't work. App crashes before completely the steps. I've reinstalled and same issue. I'll try from a different device next.
I can't even get beyond login. Update- I got logged in, but app quits working after a few days. I have start everything all over each time.
App does not work. Time spent troubleshooting was a waste. This company has no clue how to get their product working. Avoid the frustration and go with another company/brand.
This app is hilarious. It's called simpleconnect, but you can't even locate where network settings are and it makes you jump through hoops just to connect at all. How is that simple. Connecting my tv to the internet is 100 times simpler than this half baked app. Also, if you connect to an echo, it thinks the fan and the light are one and the same. So, if you change the routine on the light or the fan it will also chsnge the routine on the other. It's stupid. Piss poor development on their part.
