Simple note is so wonderfully simple it's a pleasure to use it. Sadly EVERYTHING you may write is going to be stored in plaintext on the servers. That helps keeping the infrastructure price low and the service free for all. Yet when one reads the headlines today, I would want something less readily accessible for all. The portability aspect makes the offer even harder to refuse as I can magically access my notes from any device and desktop, even from the browser.

I love how simple and easy to use it is. No glitches, no ads, automatically saves all my data, honestly great. My only recommendations are 1, ways to organize notes into folders, 2, more personalization/editing options (italics, fonts, colors/themes, etc), and 3, possibly an undo option if I accidentally delete a note/chunk of text. Otherwise, this is my go-to notes app and has never disappointed!

Oh my, I'd been using Google Keep for years now but decided to switch due to syncing issues so I searched all day for a replacement. This app is even better than Keep Notes. It's incredibly fast with no lags so far, and has a quick sync so I can use it on my desktop browser too. Only thing I'd like is to find a more visually appealing way to manage tags/folders. I hope there can be a nice implementation of this in the future without sabotaging the simplicity of this app. Thank you!

I like this app, but it becomes hard to navigate through it after sometime, because having just tags isn't enough. I would love, if you add sub tags as it would make it pretty much perfect. Also it would be nice if you allow markdown mode to be active on all notes at once, rather than adding it each time to every note. Other than that I love this app and I was using it for a long time, until I met this problem, so I changed my notes app, but still haven't found a better one

ive been trying so long to find an app similar to samsung notes that could sync in any platform, and i finally found it. literally one of THE BEST note apps ive ever downloaded. not buggy nor glitchy with the UIs, incredibly fast syncing, minimalistic and very user-friendly, and you could even publish your notes and share the links to other people. tho its not recommended for professional use. more of just casual note-taking or *ahem* fic witing. but im very satisfied it bc it fits my style ❤

It's a very good simple note taking app. If only the sync issues weren't there. Of all the cross platform syncing apps I use daily (onenote, dynalist, evernote, etc.) this is the only one which doesn't sync properly. And in the app there is no way to prompt a sync. Not even closing and re-opening on all devices helps. It has been that way for ages. I would be willing to pay for this app with a decent sync experience. I wonder when this will be fixed.

I recently switched from a Samsung S10+ to a Google Pixel 6 Pro only to thoroughly miss Samsung Notes. Simplenote is the closest thing I can come to it, so kudos. Thank you so much for the individual notes widgets. Nobody else does that. However, when I expand the widget any larger than a 1x1, it seems locked in a loading phase and I can no longer gain access to it through the widget. Also I would absolutely love to have Bold, Underline, Italics as well as the option to colour my text.

The app is really useful, the simple organization system makes it easy to navigate as well. The one noticeable flaw is that the mobile version has a bug where if i scroll and let go the keyboard immediately pops up wihout fail every single time. On normal websites you can scroll normally and click on the spot you want to type to pop up the keyboard but on simplenotes the kryboard appears when you let your finger off the screen after scrolling. My phone is a samsung and i would appreciate any fix

If I could give this 6 stars I would! I give it that score not because of its feature set, which to be honest, I only use a small fraction. My score is based on the one metric which truly matters: how it helps me. It makes my phone an extension of my laptop. I'm of an age (70+) where I find a full size keyboard so much quicker to use so if I am say, researching a place to visit, I grab addresses and phone numbers from Google straight into a note and then it's there on my phone. I'll even write long texts on the laptop and then on the phone cut and paste into Messages.

Love this app. Used Evernote for years, but the recent updates and increasing usage limits have driven me here to Simplenote. It may not have as many features or be as powerful, but it stands head and shoulders above Evernote in terms of usability and speed. You can even import all your notes from Evernote using the desktop app. Highly recommend if you're looking for an alternative to Evernote.

I was looking for a simple, lightweight note-taking app that would sync with my work Mac, my home Mac, my iPad, and my Android phone--and here it is! It syncs blazing fast, and I never have to worry about losing my notes. I like the bullet list option that was introduced. I do kind of wish for simple text styles, like bold, italic, underlined, and different colors, BUT I also understand that it would spoil the simplicity of the app. The only problem I'm had is when I want to undo something and, because of the super-fast syncing, the version I'm undoing TO isn't the one I'm expecting. Does that make sense? To soon up, Simple Note is an integral part of my workflow and it's almost completely transparent.

Been using this app for a while. It syncs in an instant and is cross platform, so its very convenient for me. Would be more convenient if the read/preview mode can be set to a fixed mode rather than toggling it up manually every time we open the app. Also a drag & drop feature for checklist would be a lot helpful. EDIT: Yes, if that's possible. I prefer if I could just make the preview mode the default rather than the edit screen. Thank you for the response! Kudos!!!

Have to write a review to counteract some of the negativity on here. Simplenote is seriously great: clean, easy to use, ad-free, and with no lag. As an on the go writing tool I prefer it to any of the expressly "distraction-free" apps out there, and in the last six months using it I've had no issues with syncing at all. It's also super easy to categorise notes by tags. Overall, it's an unfussy app that knows exactly what it's there for and doesn't overcomplicate things. Highly recommended.

This app is good, but I've occasionally seen some messed up bugs. One time I started appending to a note. Once I was done I locked my screen, assuming that the note was saved. When I unlocked it, that new portion of the note was gone. Frustrated, I began retyping that section from memory. As I was in the middle of typing, the previous note came back, but there were 10 copies of it placed right where I was typing! Now I'm a little afraid to touch the app.

Suggestion to anyone still experiencing data loss when switching apps: reinstall simplenote. It fixed the issue for me. I've been using this app for years to keep my notes synced between PC and mobile. It was flawless until a certain point when the data loss bug started. It's been happening for months and I was still experiencing it despite the change logs saying it got fixed. Dunno how they screwed up so badly. I tested reinstalling to see what would happen. It seems to have fixed the bug.

If only there was a web clipper. Syntax highlighting and a dark mode are very welcomed. The app is incredibly polished on both Android and Linux while keeping a clear consistency between the two. It's very satisfying to know that no matter what platform, whether it be mobile or PC, the experience will be the same. Tons of note taking apps exist, many offer more, but very few are built as well as this.

Great, minimalistic interface. A tool for taking notes needs be simple, not cluttered with pointless, fussy options. This app delivers perfectly. Also, the company has **extraordinary** customer service. I complained in a previous version of my review that it was a bit slow for a 'simple' app, and they replied within *minutes* in a very friendly way to ask how they could help. It's probably more of a hardware issue now that I think about it (my phone is old & cheap).

I like this app, very simple and easy to use with markdown support and internal linking. The only drawback is the missing image support. It's kind of a deal breaker for my use. Too bad. I hope to try it again soon when the feature becomes available. PS: thank you for the very quick reply. I actually saw the document to include the image, but it's a hassle to upload the image to an external service then include it. The app itself is super clean and easy however. Congrats.

A really useful, simple note system that connects to all my devices, computer, phone, tablet and there is an internet browser version. I have it open constantly to keep up with ideas, my contantly running to do list, and or even something as simple as a grocery list. I much prefer it to either Keep or Evernote. A big plus is that Automattic bought it, the same company that is behind WordPress. That's good because they are putting some manpower into it and keeping it on a regular development schedule. They are also are supporting it and answering technical questions. And best off, it's free.

Brilliant app, use it to store tagged articles and notes. One major letdown at present is that it doesn't accurately remember where you were if you were halfway through reading a long article, and then come out. I thought it had started doing this. Now you go back into a half read article and it seems to jump to a random-ish and incorrect position in the article. I'd love to just be able to pick up where I left off reliably.

I use Simplenote mostly on desktop. It is a great tool for people like me who take a ton of notes and are constantly switching between operating systems. The software makes importing notes really easy, and its search feature is big plus. The app is pretty cool too because now I can have all of my notes in my pocket on the go without needing a thumb drive. Great product overall, highly recommended!

A good note taking app that focuses on pure, streamlined simplicity. Most note taking programmes feel bloated and packed with to many options, or do not support other platforms. I like that I can sync between my Android and Windows 10, there is also the website option using a browser! It's also fast at syncing! It's not as good as I would like it to be, no widget options, no easy way to make list or even checkbox; I'm kinda bummed about that, but I'm using this over the alternatives.

I've tried a dozen note-taking apps, and this one is THE BEST. (I use the app on my Chromebook.) Easy to use and virtually impossible for you to lose the note even if your computer crashes in the middle of writing it. Only wish it was easier to print out the notes -- just hit "P" to do it, for example -- but this is small stuff in light of its stability, effectiveness and absolute integration with my chromebook. Beats all the other note-taking programs I've tried hands-down.

I still like this app and how it's so easy to access my information across devices. I can easily go back & forth from phone to tablet to computer. However in the last several months when using it on my chromebook there have been issues. First I couldn't hit return/enter. Now it is deleting any links upon leaving the note. Super frustrating as I rely on this app so much for my work/research.

This is the app I've been looking for. I needed a straightforward text/notes app that would sync in the cloud and allow me to work between my MacBook and Samsung phone. This works a treat. It does all the basics well and has a few nice extras built in, but not so many as to be cluttered and to lose the simplicity of it all. An easy 5 out of 5 from me 👍🏻

This app could be fantastic if the undo function worked properly. I once lost 250 words in a 4000 word text because the app decided to go crazy on my pc. Without me moving a thing, the app selected a few paragraphs and deleted them. I said, "no problem! I'll undo." Well, the nasty surprise was that the undo didn't work at all. Time machine or whatever that slider is called only gave me a few options (from too far back) that did not allow me to recover what I had just lost.

Ann. C. Aug 8, 2020

Good interface and convenient when I want to jot something down quickly, but there's been so many times I lost what I've written because I exited the note or I had to close my screen to tend to other things. It's really frustrating when I have to rewrite a long paragraph from memory. There's no indication whether the note has been saved or not. Please fix this issue because I don't want to search around for a new app and import all my notes onto it.

I'm in love. I've been looking for a simple notes app that has an easy search feature. All the other apps let's you search notes but not INSIDE the note. It just opens the note with your text. I have really long notes and this search feature highlights the matches to your search and even let's you iterate through them with arrows (like on webpages). Another huge plus is it support markdown! It's super light weight and any changes I are immediately synced across devices!! 🤘
